What is the Ti build you have in the Merlin?
Wire gauge and coil diameter, tell me you are NOT still using Silica as a wick. That would have a lot to do with the poor vape quality...

What is wrong with using Silica? I use it almost exclusively.

The test to try here is once a coil is wound and wicked - prime it so that the wicking material is translucent. (both Silica and Cotton will do this, IDK about other materials as I have not tried them).

Once the tank is reassembled try it out. If the vapor production is good for a half dozen or more pulls and then starts dropping off then it is rather obvious that you have a wicking problem as the good pulls were from the juice you wicked the coil with and your setup was not able to replace it.

Cotton and I've heard Rayon wick better than Silica. If your coil is getting dry it will hit "temperature protection" quicker than if it has full contact with juice and your wick.

Yea, I've never really had any issues using silica with the wicking.
I just put a new coil build in last night because I was having some tank issues. But I used a coiling tool and wrapped a longer titanium coil (it actually bends a little bit because it is a little longer than the distance between the post). It comes in at 0.83Ω. Now when I have it in TC, and set the watts to 25, it actually hits 25w a few times when taking a long draw on it. With my last coil (Much lower resistance), I could set the device at the same 25w setting, and the highest the watts would go when taking a draw was 17w. So with a higher Ω coil, the mod will actually put out the wattage that I set in TC mode.

There is nothing wrong with it, I use it in some of my old Genny's as well as Mesh.

There are definitely other issues involved with trentenmarschel's Merlin, which we found out after I posted that.

Yes, yes there is. I just have really really bad luck with things. Often the bad lucks hits all at once and covers large periods of time such as a month. (Had both my bank cards hacked, Got a defective Pico, Got a slightly defective Merlin, The tinting chipped off the Glass tank the first time I washed it, and I never win the lottery (probably because I don't play). lol.

How do you even know what watts it hits? Watching it in the mirror? It doesn't really matter what watts it hits as long as it gets to the set temp and stays close to the temp.

Your NOT looking to hit a set wattage number when in TC mode. I suggest you do some reading on using TC. Or as Evolv calls it TP = Temp Protection. The watts you set for TC mode are to help get you to the TEMP you set. The wattage readings you are looking at are what the device is delivering to get to and keep you at your set TEMP. When a mod like a DNA gets to your set TEMP, you see an on screen message: "TEMP PROTECTION", which is what it's supposed to do. Stop thinking of a TC device as a variable wattage device and wrap your head around what the technology is designed for. If you keep looking for problems that don't exist you'll find them, and it's seems you have enough real ones to worry about. Have FUN, and VAPE ON!

Lol, I know this. In my earlier post I had the lower Ω coil on. I could set the device to the highest temp and watt setting in TC mode and fire it and it wasn't getting nearly as hot as the set temp. The wattage also never passed 16-17 watt. So it was a cold vape even at highest settings. I just put a higher Ω coil in and now the wattage is actually going near what I set it at (I haven't tried setting the wattage higher than 25 because my batteries suck and probably wouldn't make it that high.)

I know the device isn't supposed to stay at the watts I set, They are only a MAX user set wattage setting. It has to change the output to maintain the temperature I set. (I still think it will work better when I get my new batteries next month. ) :)

I have no problems getting a good Vape with low ohms in TC mode. Those AW batteries you have are good for mech mods. See what results you get with your VTC4's.
Ill order them on the first. I am almost certain that they will make a big difference in how well the mod performs.

Hello Ladies and Gents. Pico fan here. I wanted to order my 3rd tonight and can't figure out which of the 2 silver ones is actually stainless. Direct Vapor has their listing marked as either stainless steel or brushed stainless steel. I don't want the painted silver that was originally used on the iSticks 20 & 30. Can anyone tell me if there is an actual stainless Pico 75??
    Much appreciated. :)
Pics would also be appreciated.

so I weighed all my picos and they were all almost the same
so going with SS would be heavyier, I think not - maybe why they call it " brushed silver "
but it is not paint on the brushed silver one, it is brushed surface material...;)

I have the one that Eleaf calls "Brushed Silver" and it looks like SS but since they don't say Stainless Steel I'm guessing it most likely isn't SS. That being said, it does look nice and I haven't had any issues with the finish. I bought mine at LitecigUSA and they sent me the painted silver by mistake even though I ordered the Brushed. They were awesome about correcting the problem and had the replacement in the mail Monday morning with a return label. They responded to my email about this issue, that I sent on a Saturday, in about an hour, even though they weren't open on Saturday. Great place. Sorry for the ramble, I was just impressed with their CS.

I've dealt with Litecig a lot recently. The CS IS wonderful! They actually answer their phone within seconds. I just ordered the 'brushed' from Directvapor. They're calling it brushed stainless steel. It's out of stock but I spoke with CS (also great CS) and she told me as soon as the new shipment comes in, I will get an email that it's getting sent out. 23.95 w/free shipping (no tracking #). That's a steal!

That is a great price for a state side vendor. The brushed silver is my favorite so far for finish durability reasons. I like the looks of my blacked out version better but I know the finish on the top/bottom plates won't survive daily use without a sleeve.

I have a white and grey and they seem to be very durable also.

Yes, they don't have the painted top/bottom plates like the full black version does. I have more pico's than I can be sure of at the moment. I think somewhere between 6 and 9 but I haven't counted in a while.... I have 4 more in a cart I plan to buy next month, and likely even more before the year is out.
