Wow. I just changed the TCR setting of M1 mode to 400 for use with the titanium. Set watts to 20 and I am getting a lot better results with getting the vape warmer. I have a 0.80Ω coil in.
That is one thing I never did with my pico but it was what made my SDNA75 a much better vape. Anyone know the TCR number to use for the pico with SS316L?

edit: checked google and the manual: 80 - 200. I recall setting my sdna75 to 092 so I tried that for one of the Mx modes and set the other 2 at 105 and 120 so I can toggle between them. Undecided yet if it helps. Will need to play around with these numbers and compare them to regular TCSS mode a bit to decide.

Why don't you just increase the temperature setting? The only stock setting on my 4 Pico's that is not accurate is their SS316L TCR. The stick titanium TCR 0366 matches the output of my DNA200's, and DNA75's perfectly. 460-480f set at 35 watts.

I had it at max temp and it wasn't working well. I actually have to limit the watts now cause it hits what i set it at pretty quickly and stays there, but I guess I'm just jacking around with it till I get the new batteries. I think 600f is highest temp setting it goes to.

I just looked in the book for my 400 setting. 80-200 is what book says for ss.

These are my TCR notes. I still believe the SS preset on these mods, as well as the VTC Mini's are set to work best with all their prebuilt coils, which CLAIM to be 316L. And when I use those coils, it's fine. But when I use known SS 316L wire, I have to use a higher TCR if 0105, which is acknowledged as the TCR of SS304, a cheaper grade.

Firmware updates delete TCR memory settings!!!
M1: 0366 (SteamEngine TITANIUM)
M2: 0092 316SS (works with Triton SS316 .04 ohm coil)
NOTES: SS304 = (TCR-0105, accepted value)
"0108" 304SS (matches SS setting on PICO Mod with Cubis SS coils)
M3: 0700 (DRYBURN at 570f, 5-10 watts - Titanium)

thx, edit my post after checking google and the manual. Will have to play around with the tcr numbers and see how it compares to regular tcss mode.

I noticed a big improvement over stock tc settings. Have it set to 490f and when i go to stock tcti mode, at that setting there is barely any vapor.

Should have done this sooner. :)

Save up for a DNA mod, maybe some of your problems will disappear. Playing around with TCR values is a last ditch effort to overcome a perceived or real problem, or an out of the norm personal preference. (Like super hot vapor)

If one owns an accurate mod, using known wire and their matching published and tested TCR values, that's called a BASELINE! DNA geeks know all this as you have ultimate control and software that can test and display everything.

Now you get TCR adjustability with far less expensive devices, which is a great feature, though I suspect is being easily abused by those that don't bother taking the time to understand what they are really doing.

These companies post a chart showing a range of numbers for TCR values, but if you spend some time on Steam Engine web site, you'll notice there is a SINGLE number TCR for a known wire, like TITANIUM G1. Not a range of numbers. There are far more grades of stainless steel, and that makes it harder, as it is difficult for you to know what's in a prebuilt coil or a spool you buy.

When you choose to play with TCR values, you have to keep in mind, you are over writing and ignoring the science behind temperture control/protection. It's nice to have the ability, just use the power wisely. You are making up for something when you do this. As I mentioned in a post above, the only TCR values I've ever bothered to play with is the SS settings as I believe they are not real SS316L Values built in.

Never had to change a titanium TCR, and never had my temp above 480f. And I've been using that wire for a long time. If you could not get the warm Vape you desire at 600f, you have more problems then I could ever imagine.

That's why I say, save up for a DNA mod.

Honestly I have to say that I totally agree with everything you just posted. It really is a last ditch effort. I'm not sure what it is with the ti wire. But yea, with some of those temps i was setting, the juice should be burning and probably my mouth as well. But its not. Maybe I need to source better quality wire. Ill take a look at my ti wire later. I think I'm just going to get some ss wire next, as well as batteries.

I set a higher tcr in hopes of it increasing the power as the temp goes up. In a way, im basically in watt mode, but it still cuts power and im sure the temp settings are rendered inaccurate (I am just adjusting the temp setting by feel and taste, not the tcr its staying at 400 unless I lower it) . I know on the last pico when I had the ss notch coil it worked great with stock tc settings. I would set a reasonable temp and it felt like it actually reached that temp. I just got to get by till the first. I also watch the output watts now and set the cutoff lower (under 20w).

Maybe I just found out why not that many people are using ti wire with the pico. Or I just got a cruddy grade wire.

To keep on topic, can some of you pm me where you buy quality ss wire from with cheap shipping? If I order notch coils, I'll get those from fasttech because ill buy those in bulk. Any spool wire I want from a us vendor. Thanks.

What's the brand or label on your titanium wire?

Shouldn't be an issue. I tend to buy most of my wire from Temco, since that's what they do. The known accepted TCR of Ti G1 is 0366. As far as your "why" some folks don't use titanium, it's because they were scared off, by ignorance. And because of that, I don't really care if people miss out on using a pure metal, instead of an alloy. So I just say use SS, even with its low TCR value. It's easier as you can use it in TC or watts/power mode. Most folks prefer easy, and that's fine. Is vaping off a wire of various alloys, is better or worse then titanium, is a decision an educated informed vaper has to make on their own.
