should be 3mm I used a coil tool to make it and then just pulled it out to space it. I did a lot of dry burns to make sure it glowed right from center. Works great.
3 mm id, 28 ga ss316l should be about 6 wraps for .8Ω.

It might have been. It was dark when I wrapped it, and was trying to count the wraps under a lava lamp light :).

Well, be that as it may, but in order to figure out what's wrong - as there's something clearly wrong with the temperature you're at - correct information about your coil is pivotal.

The mod is reading accurately on the resistance. I just tested the post and ground with my multimeter, and it came out at .8Ω. (I didn't remove the coil, I just tested the copper center pin and the ground)

Also what ohms do you think it should come out to?

That depends on the id, wrap number, wire gauge and wire type. If your multimeter reads .8 (after subtracting the lead resistance), the resistance reading is most likely correct (though you might have a source of increased resistance somewhere, details on the coil are needed). The temperature reading must be of, however, if you're getting a good vape at 300f.

Just measured a piece of the ss wire. I took 4 inches and bent it so I knew where the 4 inch mark was. I hooked it up to multimeter and tested the ohms between the end and the 4 inch mark. It came up to 1.1. That measures out to about 0.275Ω per inch. With the coil I built, That would be about right. Just built a test coil and it came out to 3 in of wire and measured at about 0.8Ω. So it's not the resistance. But I don't think you can change the TCR on the stock TC modes, Only the M1,2,3 modes as far as I know.

Maybe I missed the details of what alloy of SS and if you're running a memory slot with a higher TCR.

SS at 300F sounds a lot like our old school trick of running Ti in Ni mode (with a drop in set temp) or similarly running SS in Ti mode.
I got the wire from HERE on Amazon. Their specs say 2.803Ω per foot.

I think your Pico's had a stroke.

:p

eta: Or you've got the res locked too high. I NEVER use the lock if I don't have to, and I have't had to for about ten months.

Can you (have you?) let it cool down unlocked and see if the res settles in a bit lower.
I tested the resistance with the multimeter and the tank off of the mod. It came up at 0.9 minus the 0.1 lead resistance so it was 0.8 with it cooled. So the res is locked at correct amount.

If it's vaping fine for you at 20W 310F and you're happy, there really is no issue here. The advantage of these configurable mods and your own coil is you can get exactly the experience you like. Mine might be far different, but that's the whole point. Finding what's right for you. Not what's right for me.:)

The point is that there's something clearly wrong if those kinds of clouds at 300f are possible. It might be a wrongly read coil, or something wrong with the device itself. It's great that the trentenmarschel gets a good vape, but if the temperature is off on the device something else might be broken as well. Perhaps tc isn't working at all, for example.

but IF IT's WORKING...

I'm using a SS-1.08Ω @ 22w / 330°

:|
The point being that it's not working properly. It's like a reading of 80 mph when your actually going 55. In all likelihood it's something simple and fairly inconsequential such as the resistance being read incorrectly, but there might be something wrong with the device.

Telling you it's not the resistance. I just built an identical coil earlier used about 3inches of wire, and used the same coiling tool and pulled it apart to space. And using multimeter it came out at 0.8Ω. So it's not resistance, and I can't change the TCR in SS mode I don't think. Also it is limiting the watts when I use it. You can watch the watts go from 0 to 17,19.9,11,etc and temp protect mode kicking in.

I probably have another crazy mod. But when I first had the Ti wire in I had to have it at like 500+ for it to even get somewhat warm. With the ss coil in 300 is a little warmer than it was at 500+ with the ti wire. I think some said the the tc mode on these pico's aren't that great. But really it doesn't matter if it works.

This is my second pico, the first was defective. But really the temp accuracy isn't that big of deal on such a cheap mod. If it isn't warm enough/not enough vape, just increase it until it works. If it were a DNA mod, then I would probably be returning it.

Like I mentioned one of the pluses of SS wire is you can run it in power mode, bypassing TC. Set your watts and Vape. Take up TC vaping when you get a DNA mod.

FWIW: I have none of these problems on my 4 Pico's, but they don't see much use after the DNA75's were released. Good luck!
