I got bored and finally loaded up the Melo3 tank about twenty minutes ago.
So I've got a question, and some early impressions.

Are the included coil heads Kanthal, or maybe SS? I know they're dual coils.
I can't find the answer and I've played with too much new kit the last two weeks, I'm not sure about this one.
--

This tank looks to be fun... but it's a bit of a beast with these coils.
An 80w rated 0.3 and a 100w max rated 0.5? In a 2ml tank?
With a "stealthy" mod?

Has the world gone mad?

:p

Must be the TFV4 effect.
I'm working the 0.3 up slowly and even at 35/40w it's quite something.
I'll keep going a bit higher, but I didn't order spares, or Aspire etc. replacements, so I'd rather not fry one being overly enthusiastic.

For those who got the tank, and have tried the EC heads... what's your watts?

Passing 45w... seems tasty, happy enough with the airflow. I think it's a keeper.

Gotta learn to blow those stealth clouds, brah. :D

Yeah, the Eleaf EC coils are pretty decent. I believe they're dual parallel kanthal coils. I've taken the 0.3 ohm one up to 75W, and it produced a nice amount of vapor with no dry/burnt hits.

I just wanted to add, for the benefit of anyone still on the fence; that every good youtube vape critic, (Vapin' Heathen and DJLsb Vapes uploaded theirs today), I've seen review the Pico loves it. Every.. one. Take that for what you will. ;)

I've also found, as I had hoped, that my PICO battery issue was a break-in thing.
It shouldn't be, and I have no explanation... much like the first use of some RX's got very warm then settled down, or the battery readouts settling down to better accuracy.

I had a real longevity issue through the first three or four battery swaps, but right now running the 0.3 at 50w... all is as it should be (same batteries).

Best alternate guess... some not terribly old HE4s and/or HG2s are ready to give up the ghost.

Here's the most detailed, complete review ya could ever ask for:

It's actually using 2 connected boards. The power accuracy is great, (TC's good, about on par with other recent Joyetech mods), and the signal is completely flat, with nearly no firing delay.

Daniel's mod reviews are even more exhaustive than Phil's.

This was a very informative video. I feel like I don't need to watch one from Phil anymore, though I probably will anyways. Kinda weird that the wattage accuracy is most off around 1.5 ohms. I guess I'll pass on the 1.7 build I was considering going back to.

I also got to confirm the smoothness of the signal, though I kinda knew that already. Nice size comparison too, except he didn't compare it to any of the other isticks.

Never really seen anyone take apart a mod to the guts except for Pbusardo. Vape nerds should watch it.

Yeah, Daniel is at least as informative as Phil, when it comes to testing performance. Also, it's cool to see the guts of devices without having to start turning screws yourself. ;)

I'll still watch Phil's Pico review, (if/when he does one), cause I like his style.

Daniel is definitely more knowledgeable.

Assuming your comparing the SXminiM or SXminiML to the eLeaf/Joytech chip in the Pico (I own 2 different SX350V1 devices, 1 SX350V2 and 1 Pico):

  • The Yihi and Pico can be charged by USB.
  • Both are software upgradeable.
  • The Yihi has set&forget two button resistance setting, the Pico has the sometimes fiddly new/old coil detection system (which sometimes is frustrating).
  • Pico has top accessable easily screw off battery cap (which may or not be easy with tank mounted), YiHi has a fiddly coin operated battery cap on the bottom.
  • The Pico has the temperature setting on +/- keys, the Yihi has it in a sub menu.
  • The Pico is limited to 22mm and smaller diameter tanks, the Yihi does not have this limitation.
  • The Yihi has user selectable 'preheat', the Pico does not have this feature.
  • The Yihi offeres 2 set wire types and 1 user programable TCR setting, the Pico offers 3 set wire types plus 3 user programable TCR settings.
  • The Pico is smaller and much lighter than the SXminiM.
I've tried 4 different TC wire types in the Pico and they all functioned well for me. I do however use fairly low to very low power builds in TC and rarely venture over 30W of heating power.

With the above said, the Pico can be setup to provide a similar if not (in some ways) better user experience than the SXmini.

However (there's always one of these right?) Given the size of the Pico it naturally has better "balance" with smaller (less capacity) tanks while the sheer weight of the SXmini allows for much larger and heavier tanks mounted.

YMMV.
You forgot the Yihi SXmini price;)

Of course the SXminiM and SXminiML cost >=~4x what a Pico (even in kit form) cost but the OP already has a SXmini and was looking for a smaller device.

While everything I've tossed at it so far seems to work, I've not used my Pico enough to form a strong opinion on it. Due to its size (and single 18650) as well as the limited capacity of the included M3M tank it found a place in my coat pocket as a backup setup for when a 1st stringer fails in some way. (it replaced my TC40+Nautilus) As long as my pocket does not get damp with juice it will likely stay there for times that my 'main' runs out of ether battery or juice (or something else comes up).

Nice! I kept telling Dave at Rocky Mountain Vapor that he needed to start selling the LG HG2 3000mah high drain battery because it's such a hot seller. Well he just started carrying them!

$9.75 retail, $7.31 each after 25% off coupon. $14.62 with free shipping for a pair. That's pretty much the cheapest you can get shipped from a legitimate vendor without going on FT, ebay, or Amazon.

LG 3000mah 18650 Battery - $9.75 : Rocky Mountain Vapor, The Mountain top of Electronic Cigarettes

It's basically the perfect pairing with the Pico.

P.S. They also sell empty bottles with the needle dropper. It's basically required for filling a KFL to have the needle tip to insert into the fill hole. My friend needed one to fill his Triton as well. He's just been using a long eye dropper and usually spills some juice every time.

Indeed. Can I ask you is the Yihi worth the money here in Germany it costs 170€. I like quality build and if it's a sturdy and quality mod I'll invest in it. Imagine when big electronic producers would toss some box mods like samsung, sony, philips... I'm off topic but think about it...quality product tested simplified made by eu usa not chinese backyard firmas sry China it's a fact...

    iStick-30W charges at 500mAh...

    iStick-TC40W charges at 1A...

Haven't run across what Pico charges at...(although it may depend on the battery you're using in it)???

    ..
Daniel from DJLsb Vapes shows the Pico charging at 0.91A. You can see it at the 20:41 mark here.

Charging 18650's above 1 amp kills battery life. It'll take the charge just fine, but the overall life of the battery is depleted every time you do it. Every battery has a spec sheet that tells you the optimum charge rate. Typically the slower the better, but no one wants to wait 6 hours for a battery to charge in a mod.
The vaporshark with it's 2 amp charging on it's 18650 mods...better order up some spares cause they ain't gonna last too terribly long.

Yeah, a ~1A charge is fine with me, especially on a single 18650 mod that also has passthrough.

Ty. I was referring more to the charging circuitry. Thought I remember seeing that external batteries charge slower than internal given same capacity.
