Your experience with the istick sounds like bad luck. A brother of mine has vaped an istick 20 exclusively for the past 18 months. I can think of no rational reason why resting them would matter.

I'm thinking a lot about durability these days because of the FDA. My favorite form factor is the Pico. The USB port needs to be treated gently. The part that takes the most wear is the fire button mechanism. I press the button 5-700 times a day. That adds up. My solution, get 5 of them before August 8 then get 5 more of something else in case there are shelf life or other issues with one or the other. With all that I'm not expecting more than 10 years from all 10 but may be they will do better than that.

I plan on getting a few more too, but I thought come August 8th, anything on the market up to that point could continue to be sold for 2 years while paperwork and so forth is dealt with. Am I wrong? If I'm right, what is going to suck, is seeing everything else that gets released elsewhere in the world.

As for wear and tear, I've been using mine non stop as my only device since March with no issues for what it's worth.

Having a strange issue on my black serpent mini when attached to the Pico. The afc will not turn at all. I have to unscrew the tank about a 1/4 turn for it to open and close. Any ideas?

Could be it is hitting the battery cap? if so could try a heatsink to lift it over the battery cap

No, the Lil' Serpent is 22mm and there's plenty of daylight between it and the cap.

I'm looking at mine and while the AFC ring is flush to the bottom edge, it rotates freely when mounted. Could that one have come off the line sitting just a hair too low?
Yea, 1 side is a little lower. Might take a Dremel to it later.

FWIW-I keep 4 18650's in rotation. 2 are rewrapped just because I think I saw a tiny tear in the original wrappers. the 2 rewraps do not fit into my Pico's. so now I am more mindful of battery rotation habits. and it tells me to buy a couple of more batteries soon just in case.

Both of my batteries are rewrapped and I haven't had any issues using them in the pico. Which wraps are you using? Just curious why one would work and the other not.

Sure thing. :) Here you go....
Joyetech Cubis Pro

Thanx Garn...

As a MTL Tootle Puffer...I LOVE my eGo AIO's with their BF SS 0.6Ω coils...and after playing around (to work out their gargling/flooding idiosyncrasies) with the BF Clapton 1.5Ω coils...I LOVE my Cubis's.

So...I'm thinkin'...the Cubis PRO is probably gonna' be my next vaping "adventure"...:headbang:

I just recieved my 'brushed silver' pico. OMG i cannot believe how small it is.

I thought my rdna40 was small. This thing feels like is half its size.

The only problem right now is most of my toppers look ridiculous on top of it.

Any recomendation for a small single coil tank?

My kayfun 5 looks so wierd on top of the pico.

Only con I can find for the pico so far is it seems just a tad inaccurate with reading ohms. All my toppers are about .03 off when sitting on the pico.

Also, my screen is not perfectly centered. Is this normal?

The screen and res accuracy seem to just be a "JoyeTech thing"
Not common, but no consistency either (my RX screen is slightly cocked and my VTC screen is a tad low. Out of 12 total, not bad).

I'm still recommending the Serpent Mini, and I use my Bachelor Nano right along with it all day. But a small few have had inexplicable leaking with their Bachelors so I'll just enjoy mine and let others decide.

I've never had any of SMOK's TFV4 line, but the middle two (Mini & Micro) would be a good size. At least I think there's a single coil RBA deck for those.

There are too damn many new RTAs to keep up with, and with the EU regs more and more will be smaller than 3ml. Lots of choice.

Yeah it's normal. It's fixable though, if you wanna bother with stripping the Pico apart (which is easier than you might think lol).

The screen sits on rails mounted to the Pico board and is "moveable" to center it (though you might need to stick something into the end of the rails to keep it centered).

That's what I did to mine, and the screen is much better centered now.

My VTC also has a slightly crooked (or rather, sunken at one end) screen... but I can't be bothered to strip the thing to fix it lol. Maybe one day.

nice to hear that the pico is easy to take apart. I like to tinker so I'm sure I will have no problem figuring it out.

What did you use to keep the rails centered?

Foil-plastic medicine pill blister pack backing, cut out to fit the space and stacked as needed.

Arguably not the best "spacer" material but hey, it was within reach and was easy to cut to size lol.

Nonetheless, it's serving its purpose pretty well lol: My Pico has had a couple of drops since I "re-centered" the screen... and the screen hasn't moved at all.

Hmm i cant think of anything I have on hand that I could use to keep the screen centered. Do you think hot glue would work?

It might, but unlike my removable "shims", your fix would probably be permanent.

Try to find something flat you can cut up to fit. Maybe even slices of unheated hot glue, cut around the edges to form a fitting square?

Hmm im going to have to search in my toolbox. But maybe some double sided tape or something might work.

The unheated hot glue is not a bad idea either!

On another note I seriously cannot get over how small this pico is. This is probably the coolest purchase I have done in a year or more for vaping. Seriously this is the first product I have opened from the manufacturer packaging that I have actually said "WOW" this year. Wow factor is extremely big with this product. I am using it with a hastur RDA at the moment just cause its the smallest thing I own. I've already purchased a serpent mini for this stellar device! I mean, just look at the rdna40 with my kayfun 5, the thing is a monstrosity when compared to the pico!

I hope the chip inside the device doesnt disappoint me though, thats the only thing that is uncertain for me at this moment.

You're welcome. I still have it set up for MTL on an iStick 40 and it's working without fail. I'm really bummed about it being basically useless for DL, especially since the flavor and vapor that the BF .5 and Notch coil put out is awesome, but oh well. I just can't deal with gurgle and spit back like that. The amount of flavor and vapor coming from the small BF .5 at a relatively low wattage is amazing too, and I really had high hopes for the Notch, but it's not worth it in the Cubis or Lyche. Which brings me back to the Melo III I have from the Pico. I'm really excited to try the new EC Notch coil for it as soon as I can find them for sale. Good luck, Ger!
