Not exactly the case. if i put it in my pocket, i rotate the ring to close off all the airholes. I noticed today that if i had the e-liquid well full, it would ooze out a little when i'd open the holes back up.

so, i don't keep the e-liquid well full and instead just soak the cotton wick

I see. That's pretty much what I do just because there is no way to predict which way the rda will tilt in one's pockets.

The Eleaf Istick has been great for me so far. I use it with a CE5-S and BVC coils. It gets me threw 2 days of heavy vaping before needing to be charged. It also feels a lot more powerful than my Itaste VV V3. Vapor production is a lot better now. For the price this thing is a real winner.

I'm another who thinks it's more powerful than the Itaste V3. I gave mine away to someone who wanted to start vaping- now I wish I'd kept it but that's a story not for this thread.

Way overpriced for a generic China mod with absolutely no warranty. You can get a VS rDNA and have 4 month warranty (short, I know) and Evolv stands behind their product, unlike Yihi.

If it is purchased from an authorized reseller I believe it has a one year, I only have one Yihi chipped box, and that is an SX350, which has held up very well, no issues at all, and it offers more features, better regulation (both buck, and boost) much better then the Evolv DNA30 chips. I also have a couple DNA40 devices, not really impressed with it, the longer I use them the less I like them.

Granted Evolv will stand behind, but as someone who received a buggy DNA40 I'm not real thrilled with the QC, the silly thing constantly asks if it is a new coil or not, forcing a button press before you can continue use. Definitely firmware bugs, and most likely fixed in there current Revision 3 boards. Yeah, 3 revisions already and its been out how long?

Comparing that to my SX350 which worked perfectly from day one, and has been upgraded multiple times, with added features via downloadable user upgradeable firmware.

Evolv needs to take lessons from Yihi, and other china chip makers, and offer firmware upgrades via USB, that way when a revision/bug fix is made users have a path without dishing out additional $$$

Personally not interested in the SXmini, but it will probably be a much better device then the Istick.

The 'Burgh, PA.
Anyone see the ipv mini?

jefsview:

While the design is akin to the ZNA, in their Official Youtube product demonstrations, P4U specifically calls out the Eleaf iStick as a similar device.

The IPV mini addresses what many in the ECF istick thread wished for in the Eleaf iStick v2: replaceable 18650 battery and spring-loaded 510 connection.

It's a YiHi SX-130 board, so most likely the same as with all YiHi boards, which would be RMS regulation. Some reviewers seem to like the YiHi boards more than the Evolv boards.

Now I'm a bit confused.....

Here there is a considerable chit-chat about the IPV mini from Pioneer4You, which is expected to sellers in just one or two weeks. It has the SX130 Yihiecigar chip inside. Are we talking about the same?

It's expected price tag is around 50 - 60 €. The 'H-ANA' Hana Modz clones are now about 35 € (and three weeks away of Europe), but it has a robust spring-loaded 510 and it is presumed to be a real 7-30 watts device (no averages hassling here or prone to burn chips), plus removable 18650 battery, much like any other 18650 tubular mod. It lacks USB upgrades and its size is more like a ZNA boxed with 18650, though. But, if that size is not a big concern, as it still beats with less bulk volume than almost any other serious competitors, it could be a real alternative to the iStick.

True... But not for the projected 50-60 dollar cost

Ugh. I was thinking of a different mod that was $190 (SX Mini).

My bad.

Yihi voids any warranty as soon as you solder 1 wire to their boards. Or upgrade the firmware. If you bought a pre-made box, the manufacturer would (hopefully) cover the warranty.

The SX Mini is $190 so I hope it is a much better device. Both SX Mini and IPV mini are bigger than the Istick and cost more.

My alternative is the VS rDNA 40.

They're having a cyber monday sale (code cybermonday) 20% off everything. $96 for a DNA 30 is not bad. (no issues with the DNA 30 boards)

You're absolutely right about build quality, for both chipset board and the mod itself, and guarantees applied. But it has a price to be paid, *******Oops!, rDNA HAS replaceable battery....my bad!**** actually two: double price tag (under the special offer) and just 1200 mAh battery capacity. And it is not replaceable under daily circumstances.

As always, we want all, we want it now, and we want it cheap (but not without quality)..... We want too much!.....

Once we return to firm ground, it's about compromises. The iStick was far from the ultimately device after knowing its flaws, but even after that for many it has a balanced compromise between desirable capabilities, mostly because its size, form factor and battery endurance. Then we ask for replaceable batteries, a well built 510 and real wattages... but below the $100 price tag. Someone saw the opportunity (actually, a lot of Chinese manufacturers, according to YouTube....:)) and they are working against the clock to provide the new ultimate device, again, based on size and form factor.... and price tag.

This is becoming interesting. I do not know if it is better to watch it calmly seated with a good vape or just pulling something toward Christmas......you know, some PayPal account....

It's definitely a great time to be a vaper. There are so many choices at every budget level. I feel like we're mostly splitting hairs at this point. I wanted something smaller than a Hana box with a user replaceable 18650 and the VS rDNA fit the bill for me. More than I wanted to pay but after tons of research, it was worth it to me. I really wanted an Evolv device after watching the interviews with the Evolv guys and what they wanted to accomplish for us vapers. Yes, the DNA 40 has issues but they've been excellent from what I've been reading about helping us resolve the issues we, as vapers, have/had.

I'm going to sit tight until after the New Year, let the dust settles a little and I'm sure a good all around device will emerge...

Can't really blame them for that, lots of people out there wielding soldering irons that couldn't tell the difference between a good solder joint and a blob of bubblegum.

and considering we are not referencing a DIY box, warranty shouldn't be an issue. I've seen very little factual reports of bad Yihi chips, sure it happens, but on receipt of a DIY chip you power it up, verify function all without even warming up the soldering iron, or at least that is how it should be done.

I love my Vaporshark RDNA 30, its a solid little workhorse, and building your atomizer with the limitations in mind results in great results. However I would love it even more with one of the more advanced Yihi chips in it.

Next month Yihi is supposed to be releasing an upgradeable temperature controlled device @250 watts, not interested in the power level myself, but if past chips are any indication, its going to be a winner.

Hey! You can't edit while I'm posting!!! :p

Yes, they have 3 models. DNA 30 with a built-in 1300mah Lipo, rDNA 30 and rDNA 40 with replaceable 18650. I went with the 40. It was supposed to be delivered today but USPS sucks.

Yes, I was editing my obvious mistake. I didn't see the 'r' but then I saw the two Allen screws and got bumped by the 'replaceable thing'..... Also I was caught by surprise because I didn't expect that the rDNA was also so tiny, it is a real competitor for the iStick, both in terms of quality and capabilities, definitively worthwhile its price. I saw the picture and my one-neuron-brain thought...'it's the LiPo Vaporshark!....boooh!'
