Other than those, they are not a piece of C4-dynamite, you know!
Cell phones are more likely to blow up in use while chargin. I blew up a marine battery on a work boat once welding on the battery bracket. It blew my weldin hood off, had to run to the shower station. I knew it was gonna eat up my clothes and told the captain. They padded my time sheet with enough to buy 3 pair of jeans and shirts.
Personally, I think you would do better to worry about bein struck by lightenin than a Dirty 30 blowin up in your face :)

Why is that? Do you know of some incidents?

In the Spanish forums and in Fasttech it seems to appear some complaints about burning circuitries on the Cloupor mini used while it was charging (in pass-through mode). It seems to be just a minor faulty quality check, something related to the battery used, or something non-related to the rest of those mods (which seem to work in pass-through mode flawlessly).

The iSticks (all of them) are advertised as pass-through capable. Also the Hana (originals and clones). But there is a relevant difference, if you are using the 1 A charging current than iStick can accept but Hana's cannot: my Stick heats up a lot when I'm chain-vaping (as usual.....:)) and charging it at once. I don't like that, so I refrain of charging when vaping, even if it is more than probably safe. I consider this possibility as an emergency back-up (to vape or not to vape, that's the ultimate question.....:))

Other could have different experiences, or it might be a consequence of the pass-through scheme.

And there are forbidden-pass-through devices, being that because they cannot properly handle the heat or the process, as a cautionary measure, or because they are two in-line battery operated and they lack of the proper charging chip (for the balance of the charge between the two batteries). Some Sigelei-100 watts were reported with pass-through enabled capabilities but after a while that was scrapped down by Sigelei (and discouraged that use on the first devices), because some faulty electronics charged one battery to more voltage than the other......

The Li-po and Li-Mn are different chemistry, the Li-po will vent much more violently than a Li-Mn might. Both are reasonably safe when used properly.

Agreed. I would like to add that Li-Po & Li-Ion (IMR & hybrids) batteries are very safe the way we use them. Basic safety precautions are always a good idea, however.

Having, as I do, a whole gaggle of iSticks, I never vape them when I'm recharging via USB. In fact, I turn them off during recharging. I just figure that the possibility, however small, of something going wrong when vaping-while-charging is not worth the risk to me personally. I prefer to err on the safe side.

That's not meant as advice to anyone else, just reporting what I do. As always, YMMV.

I have a friend that was interested in getting some vaping gear to quit analogs. He purchased an istick (20w), used it for about 2 weeks or so.

It was working great, but seems to be dying after just 2 weeks of use.

- display is blinking non stop. If I hold down the fire button, it reads "no atomizer" without blinking, then goes back to main display and starts blinking again (like a strobe)

- all atomizers I tested will read "atomizer short". they all work perfectly on every other mod I test.

- it's not holding charge. it seems possible to use it as pass thru (if it wasn't for atomizer short msg), but as soon as you unplug the usb, it goes out. been charging for over an hour, it sits there with the display blinking, the battery reads full as soon as you plug in the usb, and "low power" as soon as usb is unplugged.

I realize it's a long shot but, any suggestions? Anyone heard of similar issues before with the isticks?

Thanks!

Read a post on ECF yesterday that said rockymountainvapor.com was having a sale. Never bought from them but I have not heard anything negative about them. Late last night I ordered an iStick 30W Full Kit using NEWYEAR15 coupon code and got the iStick for $31.50 with free shipping from Colorado. I have 9 other iSticks and this price was by far the best.

Thanks for this! I was going to wait until February to get an i30 (like SOMEBODY suggested ;)), but I couldn't pass this up and ordered a black one. Too bad they didn't have the silicone cases. Wanted the 510 to ego adapter and with no "Express" kit being advertised anywhere, this was a super deal for me. :)

Guess now I gotta go check out that FT Erlkonigin mini "clone" ... :p

I don't think you ordered the iStick 30w. The 30w kit is $42, minus 15% for the coupon is $35.70, which is a really good price for the entire kit in retail box. (Evape is a pieced together kit for $33.99, but they sold out anyways).

The 20w iStick full kit is $37, minus 15% = $31.45. If that is what you got, I would contact them immediately and see if you can cancel/change your order.

NEWYEAR15 gives you 25% off or so it's been reported. That would make it 31.50

My friend just got his iStick 30w last Friday. Today he called me and said it was reading "No Atomizer" while he was driving in the car. He's using a full size Nautilus on it. Put in a new coil last Friday too.

This puzzled me because the firing pin is spring loaded, so it should be making contact. I told him to clean off the firing pin and the 510 connection on the tank, and he said it still wasn't working.

Does that mean his coil is bad? I don't have any more details. He just called me to ask me.

Oh, it's one of those companies that doesn't allow you to try codes out until after you've put in all your information.

I'll take your word for it then. Great Deal! Got mine last week though.

Thanks. I only had a coil poof die on me like that once. It was a coil that I had dry burned though. Is aspire still having issues with their coils? I heard a while back there was a bad batch.

Nice math on their part :p. I'm sure it will drive traffic to the site though, so probably worth it.
