I got my girlfriend an istick 50w. Is the wattage and voltage independently adjustable or do they both go up if one or the other is increased. I'm guessing they coincide because that's how it seems right now. Sorry for the stupid question.

Volts are the force that causes a current to flow through your coil and Watts is the measurement of the output that is caused by the flow through your coil. To increase the output you increase the voltage. Whether you are reading the voltage increase or the output in watts doesn't matter. You can't increase the voltage without the output going up. And if you dial in an output in watts the voltage increases to meet it. You are correct. :)

I'm now thinking that my iStick is underpowered and will probably return it. But before I do, I wanted to ask: has anyone else had a similar experience with the 50W?

I've been using a Vapor Shark DNA 30 prior to getting my IStick 50w.

With a .5 ohm coil, I tend to set my VaporShark to 20.5 Watts... same thing now on my IStick.

What I do notice about the IStick is, it seems to display ohms higher then what they really are... my .5 ohm coil is displayed as .6 (it's displayed completely wrong on my VS, as 1.8 ohms, but I've heard others report that their IStick 50w displays their resistance as one tenth of a degree higher then what it actually is_)

Not a big deal for me.

Perhaps you got a bad IStick 50w? I'm completely loving mine... amazing power, easy to use, small size and battery life that goes for days.

Where in Los Angeles are you? I'm in Woodland Hills... PM me if you are nearby, and I'd be more then happy to let you try mine and see if yours is a defect.

I received an iStick 50W yesterday and after charging the battery, I started vaping on it with a Silo tank, set it to 12.5W and noticed it was running cool and not producing the vapor it usually does. I had to crank the iStick up to 19W before the Silo started to perform how I like it. I double checked the tank on three other devices set at 12.5 (Sigelei 100W, IPV Mini and iTaste VTR) and all three devices produced a noticeably warmer, fuller vape. I then checked my other attys on the iStick (Tugboat, Magma, and Doge V2) and noticed the same poor performance.

I'm now thinking that my iStick is underpowered and will probably return it. But before I do, I wanted to ask: has anyone else had a similar experience with the 50W?

Inquiring minds want to know also... I'm still on the fence between the i50 and Sig 150 , I only need 50w but I need a full amount of power. I can't stand reduction in power as battery fades.

Question for you, what gauge are you running at what ohm load? Each type of chip has its limitations and sweet spots.

I said this same exact thing a couple days ago. If i use the same atty on my iStick 50 and my Sig 150 and set both to 40 watts, the Sig 150 will instantly heat the coils up whereas the iStick takes a second or two. I actually start pressing the button as soon as I grab the iStick in order to reduce the lag time. The power coming off my Sig 150 and IPV3 just feels cleaner too. That's the best way I can describe it. All that doesn't matter though because the iStick is only my secondary device for out of the house. It's still a great device and will serve it's purpose well.

Bike stein thank you for the response. Well put and easy to understand. That's what I thought I guess both reads has a purpose, I'm just not sure what it is.

If you set an output in watts and leave it in watts mode, it will adjust to that same output on any device, regardless of the resistance value of the device you put on it.

I just ordered a 50W from Cvapor plus 3 blue silicone covers for the 20's and 30's for 49.52. Free shipping. Says they're in stock.

Eleaf iStick 50W VV/VW Mod Battery - Cvapor.com

Now the wait begins.........Coupon code 2015NY

That's a good price, but how long does shipping take? I just ordered one last night, too, but I went ahead and bought the complete kit so I could have the iStick USB charger, and the wall charger. The kit was $55 at Sweet Vapes. I usually get my orders from them fast, like 3 - 5 days.

The wattage and voltage are independently adjustable; I watched a video last night after I ordered mine. It looks pretty easy to set up, and operate. I think she'll love it! What kind of tank does she use?

Thanks for the replies so far, guys. In response:

My version is showing me the same ohms as my other devices so I'm not sure that's it. I'm thinking I probably received a bad copy. Thanks for the offer to let me try yours but i'm in Downtown which, with LA traffic, is basically on the other side of the country from Woodland Hills. ;)

In answer to your question, here are some specifics on the attys I've tried with the iStick so far:

Tugboat: 26 gauge dual coil at .8Ω
Magma: 28 gauge single coil at 1Ω
Doge: 26 gauge dual coil at .6Ω
Silo: 1.6Ω Aspire BVC head

Yeah, I really like the form factor and small size of the iStick, but having to crank it up for my attys to perform as expected is a bit of a drag, to be honest. I'm definitely leaning towards exchanging it for a different copy.

Just when I thought I got out.......you pulled me right back in!!! I've have been reading up on diy juice, and trying to convince myself to be happy with what I have.
I have been happily getting along with my 2 original 20W's.......I don't need another 30W device....I have one.......but damnit all to hell.....I MUST HAVE THIS 50W.
Thanks for the link Drew!! Pulled the trigger on a blue one.
p.s. my 2 original 20W are still going strong...no issues....no bad threads...just minimal rattle on one...used everyday with Magma,Atomic or TOBH 1-1.10 builds.

I still wonder if ohms play into this; when comparing the two. It always has on my other devices, Thanks

Yes, if you use voltage mode, going from a 2.0 ohm coil at 4v and 8w to a 1.0 ohm coil at 4v , your watts would go to 16 (approximate). You would have to decrease the volts to get the same power output in watts.
If you are in watt mode, your voltage would drop automatically. If you are at 8w with a 2 ohm coil and put a 1 ohm coil in your v will drop from 4v and the output will stay at 8w. It all depends on your preference of adjustment. I prefer voltage mode.

I normally use Rayon as it is the absolute best wick material for flavor and ease of use. Since I ran out and can't find any locally, the Labo Puff (KGD style) package was right there with the Kanthal on Amazon and I'll run some of it for a while as I have used KGD in the past.

I really need to find someone who can purchase from the local wholesale beauty supplier, then I'll pick up a big box of the stuff. :vapor:

PM me your address and I'l send you an envelope full. :)

It is my first order with them. I'm not in a rush for it and when I saw the silicone covers so cheap I jumped on it. I'll post here when it arrives.

So took some pics of my IStick 30w and the Aspire K1.
Love them both!
The form factor and long battery life are my favorite features of the 30w.
The K1 is great little tank for a MTL, low wattage flavor vape, but I'm waiting on the cotton BVC before getting more.
I figure the 50w is on the 'to do list'. :p
I will post pics some time later of the 30w with my new Kayfun V4.
