I turn them off, plug them in, the little charging bar runs and runs like normal...but they don't charge. What the heck ?
The blue one, I don't think I have charged 5 times even...I mostly use the pink one.

This is not sounding good, classwife. The odd thing is that you're having the same problem with two devices. I would start by swapping out cords and wall-warts. If this doesn't solve your problems then I would think it's an internal wiring or actual battery issue. Let us know if we can help further. Please keep us updated.

Provari 3 owner here - totally agree.
The 50 performs every bit as well as the P3.

One word.

Like WHOA.

From my perspective, sealed-soldered not-easily-replaced LiPo batteries versus user-swappable IMR 18650s is a "you say to-MAY-to and I say to-MAH-to" kind of thing. The pros and cons of each can be argued, but it comes down to user preference.

Brilliant, Bill. Me liketh.

You're absolutely correct, my friend. Eleaf has addressed the glaring issues from the original iStick. All that remains is the questionable quality of the Chinese battery that is utilized. I don't believe the batteries are inherently bad. However China is not well-known for their high quality consumer batteries. Consistency in their manufacturing process is abysmal. We will see very disparate experiences with the iStick batteries. Some, perhaps half of us, will see the 500+ charge cycles Li-Po batteries are known for. The remainder of us will see less than 500 charge cycles before the battery(ies) shows signs of deterioration. Currently, this is the cost of purchasing a device in this price range.

First let's understand the scope of this problem. As we all know, forum threads are a repository for user complaints. Yet this thread has remained overwhelmingly positive regarding these devices. Out of nearly 12000 posts, less than a handful of forum member have complained about the battery itself. It's simply too soon to draw any conclusions about the battery. Over the coming months, paying attention and reporting battery issues here will be very helpful.

The batteries in the 20 & 30W iSticks are simple enough to replace but require moderate soldering/electronic skills. The 50W shouldn't be that difficult. I have not had one apart yet however. The question remains of what to use for replacements. Although a standard 18650 Li-Ion would be sufficient, the Li-Po characteristics are part of what has made the iSticks so brilliant. This takes me back to a months-old rant, asking that manufacturers begin supplying the vaping industry with quality batteries designed for our intended purpose, in both chemistry and form-factor. This is the next step that must be taken for customers to be happy long-term with their purchases.

I do hope everyone read and re-read this most marvelous post. Thank you (as always) alden hero.

Hi guys. I'm an MVP 20w user. Love it, but switching teams. MVP is going to be my out of the house /backup battery. The 50w is too hard to pass up for a few reasons.

The wife wants one to lay with now too. Since she doesn't vape much, would the 20w be ok? I know there were thread issues, and rattles, but if it's treated gently, would it negate the issues?

Does the bending adapter fix the thread issues? If I add the bendy adapter, I might as well just get the 30watt instead. I just answered my own question I think.

Can you guys put my mind at ease and tell me the build quality is on par with the MVP?

Sorry, the question and opinion...... I would recommend the 30. :)

Bring back that Zippo feeling with the Vintage Eliquid collection.
I really need to try some of these, just for the Zippo style cases. :)

Now you're really making me miss my Zippo!

Gave myself blisters learning some of these Zippo tricks...

Trip down memory lane.....Thanks Anson :toast:

Makes me want one of these just so I can hear the click :)

Dammit, my wife and I have a small collection of zippos. Now I'll probably have to get em and and look at em.

One of my (least favorite, but definitely cutest) mods...

OK, my short attention span wouldn't allow me to read your entire post but I gather that it's my voltmeter's fault. Why didn't you just say that:D

:thumb:

Yes!

As you gracefully pointed out, I've got some memory disorder....

The formulas are good (yours, that is, those linked) and my short resume is not. But it was (good) on the source 'paper':

I always preferred to use graphs instead of calculations or 'rules of thumb', but it is surely better (and you'll end sooner) just to ignore everything and use your taste buds....or purchase a well adjusted 30W or 50W....:D

Or two.....:p

But if you like them:

(Now it's the time of throwing me tomatoes and all that 'other' jazz)

I must say......... it's just a tad bit difficult to come back on a Katurday nite to this. I think it's wonderful, but haven't a klue.

Mine vapes as good, if not smoother, than my IPV mini at the same wattages. It does take a bit longer to heat up, but the IPV mini does boost a bit when first fires before it delivers the setting whereas the iStick is just straight volts/wattage.

Because I had noticed that my 20W and 30W iSticks seem to "ramp up" gradually to full power over the first second of actual firing...your post prompted me to check out PBusardo's IPV Mini review. He did find that the IPV Mini had a 1-second 0.8 volt boost followed by a gradual downward slope to the set RMS watts (when in PWM mode).

Found the IPV Mini in the Clearance at 101Vape (they only have GOLD...but GOLD is the one I wanted) for $39.99 + $2.99 shipping:

As for the 50Watt-iStick...a poster in another thread said he noticed the same "power boost" with his 50W-iStick as with his IPV Mini: "the iStick 50W feels (to me) identical to the iPV Mini in the immediacy of full power upon firing"

That quote was mine, but you've misinterpreted. My perception is that the iStick 50 and iPV Mini 2 70 both fire immediately upon pressing the fire button, with no ramp-up delay to reach the selected wattage.

Only the iPVs (Mini 30W and Mini 2 70W) have the 0.8 volt 1-second boost beyond the selected wattage. The iStick 50 does not boost. What you set is what you get, and you get it immediately, with no ramp-up.

Well what do ya know...I found another charging cord...
Tried the "old" on a mini iStick...trickle and poopy charging - not charged beyond 25 after 3 hours
Tried the new cord I found - charged right up !
Used the new cord on the blue one - charged right up.

Yay !!! Thank you !!

But...

It seems that the pink one is now MIA
I've turned the house upside down looking for it.

it stayed in the wall...
But inspection of the plug, I can see the edge of the wire casing like it was pulling out from the plug....and noppers, I don't yank cords, I grasp the plug...I also don't let things dangle from a cord.

Oh well...it's not like they are really meant to last a life time

Just really thankful my iSticks are ok !

(still can't find that pink one for crying out loud !!!)
