I have also read that low and slow is best for batteries. So, it is not just you :) However, the eleaf Ismoka site states that using a 1 amp wall wart is best for the iStick.

It doesn't say best, it does say "more fast."

lol

But from what I understand, the circuitry in the charging part (in this case, inside the iStick) would only use a maximum amount of current (amps). For sake of the discussion, let's say it uses 1 amp max. If it took 2 hours on a 1 amp, it'd take 2 hours on a 2 amp, and 2 hours on a 30 amp. As long as it hits the max, excess is not needed.

Similar to plugging in a light into an outlet. Regardless if the outlet has 10a, 15a, or 30a, that light is the same brightness.

I also concur with the "low and slow" philosophy for recharging and ribs. :) I use a 700mAmp USB adapter from my jawbone earpiece.

And why not, I plugged it into my "kil-a-watt" meter. (It goes between the outlet and whatever you plug in, and it shows amps, wats, volts, frequency of the AC current, and records kilowatthours if you leave it in. Excellent for finding out just how much energy a air coditioner, fridge, or pc is eating up.

Right now, the iStick charging is drawing 0.04 amps, 2 watts. I'll let you know if it records anything on the kWh part (which is a LOT of energy, and this charging chore is tiny. )

Unless its explained, the word "Best" as used by a manufacturer is interpretive. They very likely mean 1amp charger is best for quickest charge, while anything over 1 amp may damage the battery.

Yeah I too have read numerous times that a slower charge is better for the long term life of a battery.

Well, common lithium-cobalt (i.e. ICR) batteries have a limitation to be charged over half its nominal capacity. That's what technical guys call 'charge at 0,5C'.

But lithium-manganese (IMR) and many lithium polymer (like the one inside the iStick) can be boosted up to the 1C limit. That, for a 2200 mAh, is 2,2 A.

I'm not sure if the battery of the iStick can support that, and it does not matter, because common wall chargers, unless they are designed for tablets, have an 1A limit. So in the worst case scenario you'll end up charging with a normal charger at 0,5 A, thus 0,25C, really safe, or 1A, so 0,5 C, ideal for any lithium battery.

And even if you are using a wall charger for a big tablet, those which go beyond the 2 A boundary, the electronic circuitry inside the iStick for regulating the charging process will limit the current to safer limits, probably the 0,5C limit. That also happens with all the gadgets with charging inlets, whatever they could be (propietary, USB, etc). You must use a charger capable of supply at least the current expected by those circuitries. In phones, between 0,5 and 1 A, tablets usually go beyond 2A. The iStick, like a big phone, 1A.

It's all related to the capacity of the lithium battery or battery pack inside the gadget.

Despite of the many urban myths on rampage out there, all lithium batteries lack of 'memory effect' and can be charged equally safe at any current below their limits, 0,5C most of the times, so there is no advantage involved in a slow charging. That only serves to lithium tech, the others are another beast.

In case anyone is concerned about the message ebay has put up since they pulled the listing on the pre-ordered iStick from VapeNW. I have 6 iSticks pre ordered from them, so when I saw that I kind of freaked out and emailed VapeNW. They responded to my email within the hour and said "We are still going to fulfill your order."
So if there are any other nervous Nellie's out there like I am, that is what I have just found out. No, in case anyone is wondering, not all 6 iSticks are for me. I ordered a red and a blue one for me and my daughter. Other family members and a co-worker saw them and asked if I would order them one. I love this little sucker!

I emailed vapeoutlet too, and didn't really expect a response, but I got one within a couple hours and they said it went out today and to give it 24 hrs to update. I'll remain optimistic for now.
What I love they create a shipping label and that shows up immediately but we are to believe when usps scans it there is a 24 to 48 hr delay. What's wrong with that logic?

When I make a Shipping Label using PayPal, the Information is sent to the USPS Instantly. But when I drop a Package with that Shipping Label on it at the Post Office, the Package may sit in a Bin Un-Scanned for 24 Hours.

I found them by selecting "all designs" and then when you click on a design, scroll through the drop down box to pick your mod, they have it listed as "istick eleaf" :)
