Just pulled mine off the charger. My aspire coil is registering 2.3 ohm. vaping at 4W it is registering 3V. Seems like a 3V vape to me.
At 5.2W, I am getting 3.4V.................................

My Protank at 2.6 ohms is burnt tasting at 3.0 volts indicated on the istick. On the MVP, or eVic, it's just perfect at 3.7 volts indicated.

This seems like two different chips in our isticks.

Yours bucks, and mine doesn't....

I dunno what Up with the iStick you got.

A 2.8 Ohm Clearo on my iStick set at 3.0V gives me a Very Weak Hit. Very Weak.

Hi gerrymi.I don't know if I am being stupid or does this really work on MVP2 Corn Cushions?I have OA too like Peter.Thanks.

Cut a piece of "Dr Scholl's Corn Cushions" to stick on it. You'll LOVE it!!!:headbang:

It helps but it can still be a pain (literally) on a "bad hand" day. That is why I have/had such hopes for this device. I'm up to five VV v3s now to keep my charging rotation going all day. Okay, the fifth was mostly because I wanted another Nature series vine. But I really, really prefer low wattage, even on a bvc nautilus, so I'm going to wait now until the low wattage issue gets cleared up.

I have to agree with pcrdude......2.5 ohm coil....lowest settings on Istick.....very powerful, maybe not burnt tasting, but stronger than my MVP set at 3.7 volts.

Non-techie customer service people at eLeaf/Joye checked with the manufacturer who told them that the the iStick does not have a buck circuit. My particular iStick tends to confirm this information as it does not reduce power when checking it under load on a Smok Omnitester, a very inexpensive meter.

However, I would like to make it abundantly clear that I do not consider this to be absolute "proof" of anything. It is possible that something got lost in the translation between eLeaf/Joye and the manufacturer, that my iStick is not performing as it should and/or the Smok Omnitester isn't correct.
My findings exactly, but I will go as far to say that my Smok Omnitester is accurate enough to show that my Istick will not buck below battery voltage.

I have 4 other regulated devices and they all measure within .1v to .2v of the set voltage on the same tester.

It's not all that uncommon, hell, even the famed Evolve DNA 20 and DNA 30 won't buck below battery voltage.

I showed the chart that is posted in this thread to a friend. This is what he had to say about some of what he has read in this thread.

The problem I think is the op of the chart says the device doesn't "down regulate" and only "regulates" above battery levels. Sounds to me like he's talking about "boost", not "regulation". Or at least only talking about true watt monitoring & regulation. If you have the ability to regulate the voltage to say 3.0 volts (which I think the iStick can surely do) and send it to a 1.8 ohm coil, as long as your battery is at least 3.0 volts or higher, Ohm's law says you will only push 1.66 amps through the circuit, which is 5 watts. It's regulation regardless as long as the device keeps the voltage at 3.0 volts and the coil stays at 1.8 ohms as it heats. Same for a 2.1 ohm coil regulated to 3.0 volts for 1.43 amps giving 4.3 watts.

True that in the last example it may be regulating voltage rather than watts, but it's low watts (4.3) and regulation nonetheless.

I haven't tested a darn thing, just using logic. And besides I think I'm a low watt vaper at 5 to 6 watts, and sensitive to burnt juice. In the am when I wake up and am most sensitive, my 5 or 5.5 indicated watts with my overnight charged battery taste just like the ones at the end of two days when I go to bed and put it on charge. Maybe if all the "low volt/watt" vapers get scared & don't buy, the price may go down.

Edit- And if that makes sense to you SG, feel free to quote me over there

All true, but there is one key phrase in all of that. " It's regulation regardless as long as the device keeps the voltage at 3.0 volts "

Right and anyone that is not comfortable there should probably look for a fixed 3.7V device. Why even have VV/VW if you truly like to vape that low. This is all JMO We all have one.

I was looking around on the site that I bought my first Riva kit from last night and saw these. http://www.cigeasy.com/dealoftheday.asp

Those used to be very popular when they first came out and may interest some folks in this thread for their size. Not to mention that they are only $6

Humm, using my in-line voltmeter on my black one when set to 3 volts it reads 2.9 volts, @ 3.6 volts it's reading 3.5 so about a tenth of a volt low. I'd guess that it's PWM (in-line display is flashing) but without hooking up an o'scope I wouldn't guess at the frequency, I certainly don't feel the pulse while vaping. The blue one reads pretty much dead on but both subjectively feel hotter than my MVP. This is straight off the battery charger so those who cannot get the device to down-volt may have issues with their devices. :(

I know that there are many here who are defending the istick. Please understand, I am not writing that it is a bad device, and am NOT attcking it. Not at all. Other than the voltage thing, I love mine!

I just think it's important that low wattage vapers are aware of the limitation. And it IS a limitation.

YMMV

Since this will be my first experience with VV, will I be needing different coils to avoid issues with burning on a fresh battery? I current use EVOD tanks with 1.8 ohm coils.

The only way to really know for sure is to do scientific testing. What I do know, is my istick doesn't appear to buck.

I look forward to confirmation if they are supposed to buck, and mine just doesn't.

Best thing to do would be to go back to where you bought it and get it replaced IMO. Not sure that much of anything is being accomplished with all of the guessing going on. Except maybe confusing some folks with what could be incorrect info. You have to have an issue with your device since most of us are not having the same issues.

I just put mine on to charge.

Chain vaped it pretty continuously for the past 6 hours. Refilled the Kayfun twice.

For my money it's a keeper.

Wish I'd bought two before JV chimed in.

Tell me about it. His site has done more harm than good in many ways to the discounts and deals IMO Vendors either run out of stock too quickly or get so overwhelmed with orders that they raise the price.

It was more fun looking for our own deals IMO

Interesting, I have one of those inline volt meters and it won't read anything one this device. Does your meter apply a load or something? because the Istick wont fire unless it has a load between 1.0 to 3.0 ohms.

Of course now the Ebay prices are going up if anyone has noticed. VJ finally noticed them and as soon as he posted the price of $31.99, the prices went up.^^^^^^^^^^^

WOW!.......That was QUICK!:( Vape NW still has a listing there for $31.99.....BUT, it is a PRE ORDER price......MAKE SURE that you read the entire listing before you buy, because if you buy it @ this listing, you will probably have a wait. You're right SG, they do also have it listed for about $40........and I guess that's if you want it NOW. They must be running low on them.......GLAD that I got mine already!:)

These are so new and they are mass produced electronic mods...there will be lemons. My first order of two was one for a friend and one for me. My friend is not able to get her KFL minis to fire I'm having no issues....we will be together for the weekend in 8 days...he's I'm counting then we will test them out together switching attys etc. if for some reason hers is an issue with the mod I will return it, but it may be the build, atty...only time will tell. Sorry for the ramble but we do all need to remember there will be some of these mods that have problems just like any other mod produced.

I should clarify she loves the mod and is vaping away with her KFLs and other attys....we are just going to try and figure out the differences between our KFL mini setups.
