BTW, in case you didn't know--the dna 30 does not step down either: the lowest voltage you can choose on the dna devices is 4v, if I remember correctly. But, of course, Brandon's chipsets are calibrated correctly. :D

Hi Kat! :D

yup! only the dna40 is able to down -regulate. what is puzzling though is i have not found all that much of a difference in the vape :?: possibly my taste buds are compromised by that cold i've been dragging around ;)

The 2.O is going to be so much better,

Save your money.

not necessarily! even with those shortcomings i'm quite impressed with that little stick ;) but i did catch it on sale where it wasn't much more than a good ego battery ;)
as to eleaf's performance claims - that's a different story :D

Old school KR808 vaper here. Have used these cartos on the original GLV, then on my own made up clone and finally, on a Hana clone for about the last year. The big thing for me is the strong/hot taste (like a cigarette). Just got one of these red ones for my wife for Christmas and, well, of course, had to try it out. Size is amazing and stealthy. It worked with a cartomizer that was apparently too high for the Hana. I agree with what I've seen here that the displayed voltage may be off but as others have said, you just adjust it too your liking. My question to those who got these right away, about 2 months ago, how are they holding up? I like everything about it after 10 minutes but it certainly doesn't feel as substantial as my Hana clone. At half the price I don't expect it to but do you think it will last a year or 6 months?

I don't know, maybe I'm just lucky or naive, but I have 2 isticks that I have been vaping almost exclusively for 6+ weeks (I got them the first week that they came out in the U.S.), and have had no problems with them. I use tanks that need to be filled daily (bottom fill), I don't have an extra afc or 510 adapter to protect the threads, and I charge them usually when the power is just below half. Both are still firing and threading the way they did the first day that I received them. If things hold true, I anticipate a good year from these suckers!!!

now... is all this graphs, rms, boost circuitry and all that stuff gonna matter to my wife - i'm picking one up for my wife, who's a very very casual user- and all she uses are the kanger mini protank 2's...
just wondering...

Wife using that system. Little hot on its lowest setting. Coils I have built at 1.2ohms. Going to start building 2 ohms coils now for her Istick. She likes the Istick and she is very picky and likes small and danty. Unlike me that likes big and bulky. LOL

No it will not matter to her. She just has to set it at very low range. Mine runs at 6 watts. My Vamo at 10.5 most of the time. Just tell her to stay between 5-6 watts for this device. She will love the way it vapes!

Wow. I am shocked to read this because I love the vape I get from Istick topped with a Protank. I too rebuild mine and most are 1.6. I use KGD. I roll at 5.8-6.0 watts and never taste burnt. Anything above 6.5W I start to. I really like it with my Taifun (built at 1.5-1.8) but it is so top heavy that I go with Protank.
I have not tried the Nautilus because I am so happy with the Protank.
My daughter tried it last night and begged me for one for Christmas. She runs rebuilt protanks too

A word of caution to you...in my personal experience, single coil Kanger clearos, such as the PT2 Mini, taste burnt even at the lowest setting of 3.0V. I have tried 1.8, 2.2, and 2.5 ohm coils, all with the same end result. YMMV.

She will love it coming from an eGo. Although I have various sizes of eGos, that is what I was coming from too after giving the V5 to the Ms. I can honestly say I like it better than the eGo and the V5. And no the wattage thing won't matter to her...it doesn't matter to me at all and I am a light vapor as well (I am a nonsmoker vaper).

I run mine with a Nautilus Mini both 1.6 and 1.8 Ohm coils and have played with the wattage. I've gone high up to 14 (taste fine just a warmer vape) but I typically run somewhere between 6-7.5. Whatever that comes out to in actual wattage I don't care.

I have 2, about 4 & 6 weeks in. Love them. No complaints at all. Everything I have fits and fires. I expect them to last a year.

Thank you for the reassurances, folks. Not too worried about the threads since I/we use a 510/808 adapter. The buttons were a bit less stiff (flimsy?) than the Hana clone though. That's what made me ask. I'll get one for myself real quick. And she's gonna love the red/pink.

The only odd thing I have found is that, about once a day, I get a dead hit. ie, it doesn't fire when you press the button. Just once, then it's fine. I think it's something in the board calculating, but that's just my guess. Several people noticed it when they first came out, but I think we're all used to it. I haven't heard it mentioned in a while.

If they taste burnt after a day of use, then the problem is not incorrect voltage output--that's sounds more like a wicking issue. Maybe you're using dark, sweet juices? Do you chain vape? Take very long drags?

If the voltage is too high for your particular atty, usually you'll know right away--not after a day of vaping. I'm using a 1.5Ω dual coil atty in my Kanger Emow tank at 3 Eleaf volts and I'm getting a delightful vape. Before that I used a 1.8Ω dual coil in an Aerotank at 3.5v and it was really nice, too. I haven't tried any single-coil atties on the iStick yet. I don't think I have any 3Ω coils in my stash.

BTW, in case you didn't know--the DNA 30 does not step down either: the lowest voltage you can choose on the DNA devices is 4v, if I remember correctly. But, of course, Brandon's chipsets are calibrated correctly. :D

Hi Kat! :D

I primarily have been vaping Gemini Royalty and 100 Grand...not especially dark juices but they are sweet. I vape 2-3ml a day and take about 3-4 second drags. I really think my iStick is hitting way too hot.

Cotay, I'm having the same problem. I seem to be having some kind of wild voltage surges on my istick. Most of the time, even at the lowest setting, my juice tastes burnt and the napalm throat hit I get just cannot be healthy. I can correct it using the "all the way up and back down" method, but it's really starting to bug me. Is anyone else having this problem, or did I get a bad one?

I just finished Pbusardo's review, and perhaps I'll try a lower power clearo. ???

I've also run the iStick up and down several times and it sometimes will correct the issue...sometimes not. I too think that there are some of these that are having strange power surges. In any event, I went ahead and ordered the VS DNA30 last night. I realize that it doesn't do step down, but at least it is reliable in hitting its stated voltages.
