$50 for a carton! That had to be back in the 80s or something since it's $100 if not more depending on where you are these days with the high cig taxes a number of states impose. MA being Tax-we-chew-your-money! I calculated a lot of mula made free since I went vaping full time and now have a nice growing collection of things!

Now I have to wonder about the DovPo E-LVT "indestructable" mod soon to be in from fasttech I ordered on Cyber Monday. That's another Cloupor model there.

no - but the next time you replace a nautilus coil take a look inside the old one .............

I did a lot is searching about this today after I read your earlier post and what I found was that the "crumbling" wick material, that some people worried about inhaling particulates from, is only in that state before its saturated. Take a look at this link http://www.thexlab.com/vaping/aspire_nautilus_observations.html#BVC_atomizer_wicking_material_safety and this video http://youtu.be/xU9PlSfNWSs

thanks! i wonder if that is the lab report aspire had on their website and/or forum and then deleted without an explanation? tweety would know ;)

in the end though your finding these 2 sources reaffirm my conviction that bvc coils are not for me. i'm not worried about the gunk accumulated in the filler material after 2 weeks of use but the layer next to the coil looks burned to me and i won't subject myself to that again.
everybody has to make their own decision what they can and can't tolerate but i hope that everybody will take a look inside their aspire bvc coils once they are done with them and see how their vaping style affects this material.

In an apparent response to this, Aspire posted an undated news item entitled “The Safety of our BVC Coils” stating that the wicking material had been certified to be “both nontoxic and heat resistant.” The news item included a PDF download of an 8 July 2014 report from the Guangzhou office of SGS S.A., a Swiss-based testing, inspection, verification, and certification service.

Aspire has recently deleted all that information previously provided by rep. Tina, as well as the copy of the lab report, from their website... I contacted them several times and was told that there was a mistake in translation. Translation? The Swiss lab issuing a report in English made a mistake in translation???? Seriously?

Anyway, here's where all this information about the wick material cited in the article came from--and now it's gone:

Ran across a DOVPO DT-50 (DOVPO DT-50-New products-Shenzhen Dovpo Technology Co., Ltd) last night with an Aspire Atlantis (0.5Ω) on it. It vaped like a champ. Now I understand the fuss about the Atlantis. The DT-50 is a 25A device capable of 50w at low resistance, 40w in the .4-.8Ω range; has a 4000mAh LiPo, adjustable 510. It's the size of an MVP2. Some sites (NOT DOVPO's) are listing it as having a YiHi SX-330v2 chipset, though I doubt it. FT has it for $61 ($60.96 DOVPO DT-50 4000mAh Variable Wattage APV Box Mod - 5.0-50.0W / silver at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping). The 4000mAh batt will be welcome with an Atlantis. It's not for me but we are starting to have options galore...

You really just have to decide for yourself, what you want to vape.

You could also argue that without the fiber to collect the gunk, it was vaped directly off the coils in a standard atomizer and into the vapor.

We are lab rats.

Indeed.

I'm with ya on that, four2109. It's 1.5mm taller than an MVP2. If someone wants 4000mAh, it's a size trade-off.

Yep, I had an eroll coil die after using a local vendor's "tobacco menthol" for a day. No tobacco or menthol flavor, just sugar. I don't know why I even try them... I know better.

I have pretty much stopped using all dark, sweet juices. With the few coffee and dessert juices I still use, frequent (every 5-10ml or so) coil cleaning is a must. OTOH, when I vape clean, clear eliquids, or unflavored, my coils last for days, if not weeks...

My coils last for months! Unless I screw around with vendor flavors. I know better. I'm a hand to mouth vaper. I don't care what's in it. I have enjoyed some WTA lately but even that hasn't killed my coils. It's the sweeteners that gunks them up.

We all knew, with the overwhelming interest in the iStick, that others would have competitive products out shortly...

The iPV Mini is not so "mini". It's just a hair smaller than the an 18650 HANA-type mod. It's biggest advantages are it's ZNAish design and the YiHi chipset.

The Cloupor mini is much closer to the iStick in size and looks to be a great alternative. It's a little boxy and not quite as "cute" as the iStick. Hopefully Cloupor has gotten their act together with their electronics after 3 versions of their HANA clone. My biggest hesitancy with the Coupor Mini is their quality control. I have purchased two Coupor HANA-style DNA 30 v3 clones for $5 each. They were returned under warranty. Many people have purchased them with the intention of transplanting an EVOLV DNA 40 chipset. Many come in working or repairable condition. One of mine worked right out of the mail. The other had a snipped wire that needed to be soldered. I now have 2 working DNA 30 clones for $11 total, shipped. I have two FD 510 connections on the way and am waiting for more Coupor stock to purchase two more. For $5 each, they're perfect for a basic DIYer with a bit of a gamble involved. Hopefully the Mini won't suffer from similar QC issues.

Both have "adjustable" 510 connections. I don't believe that either is floating or spring-adjustable. Meaning, we may have to carry a screwdriver on the go to switch attys. Overall, when these devices hit the $40-45 mark, I expect they will fly off the shelves...

So far I've had good luck with Cloupor products, and have seen better QC then there ipv devices. My cloupor dna30 type box used to be my all day device, with no issues, and now my cloupor ZNA50 has taken its place, also with no problems (dna30 still works great, I just love the feel of the zna in hand, and the 50 watts :p

I have an e-lvt and it's very good. Don't for one second think that it's waterproof, but the swappable battery feature is great. Heavy in the hand - use a light topper.

Oh I know it isn't waterproof as some assumed it was apparently! Water resistant always helps however in the event it falls into a puddle or snow bank! The VTR is heavy in the hand as well. I am just wondering the E-LVT will fit into the Innokin belt holder now that I was able to replace the leather loop they only glue inplace to keep the snap from coming undone. That will be seeing the Atlantis however since it fire down low enough. The Beyang 30w mod still looks interesting however for the smaller size while the E-LVT may end up being the last mod ordered for some time as I sitll have the Smok Guardian E-Pipe II mod coming in likely during the week as it was shipped last tuesday. Been waiting since 11/13 for that one on pre-order!

The Nautilus tanks will find homes on the pair of Vamos V5 and V6, The Vamo Fire(wooden covering over V6 with same chip, The VTR only 15w max which is about where I keep the Nautilus usually 13-15w while some flavors go up.Plus I still have two Smok ACEs now put aside with some other spare batteries.

A carton runs about $58 here in Northern Va. As much $$ as I've spent on gear in the last month, I've still saved over what I would have spent on smokes.

You have to remember you are down in tobacco country or in a state where health costs are not paid for by slapping large taxes on tobacco products. Here in MA they were just raising the tax another $1.50 the same month I was resolving to dump tobacco entirely and the wholesale club which had the lowest carton price Costco also had a pharmacy where a new law prohibits any pharmacy or store with pharmacy like Walmart from carrying anything which unfortunately still includes ecigs! The carton price already seeing $1 a pack brought prices up from $74 to $96- or while I was already finishing off the last pack out of the last carton on 3/30/13!

KOOLs DOA 3-13-2013.jpg

Hey hello Night Hawk, I spent a good (bad) part of my youth in Springfield, MA.

Well someone from the home town I see! I didn't actually come from Springfield originally just mostly by circumstances and employment. One thing you probably are not aware of if you have been gone for some time is how the downtown has changed with a new vape shop across the street from what was the Civic Center notw the Mass Mutual Center. Well you know how the insurance companies are the ones who own MA not Big T or Big Pharma! Several shops are springing from state line to state lately.
