Hey all. So I'm thinking of biting the bullet and getting an eleaf for my Christmas gift to myself. The eleaf has been out for a bit now, So I've been wondering what is the consensus on it? Do you all like it, love it, hate it? or should I just get another MVP since my hubby took mine since I got a vamo. I want something smaller to carry around while out and about.

Thanks

I've had mine for about 6 weeks--really like it. Some people have had 510 thread issues so you might consider getting the "bendable" adapter as well if you can--it protects the threads and has a spring loaded 510 connection. I just got one of those--didn't have problems-just being pro-active.

Single vertical coils tend to be able to handle more heat and watts than equivalent resistance single horizontal coils, since verticals are wrapped in "wick blankets," which provide better liquid saturation to the coil and are thus less likely to burn. So, I ordered some of these to try out:

Vertical Coil Replacement Heads for T3S / MT3 / MT3S / Protank and More (5-Pack) from fasttech

Have you used them??? Do they work OK? I've never seen a vertical coil Kanger knockoff... Interesting.

And what's that filler made out of? I hope not fiberglass... ;)

I've bought more than 180 PVs over the past four years. About a third those were worth buying. Of the other 2/3, many were overpriced or deficient in any of numerous ways, from bad design to lousy performance. Some just didn't last long before they malfunctioned in some major way. Others were retired, sold, or given away for various reasons.

I now own five iSticks. That should tell you something. All are in service. All perform as they should.

iStick positives:
Small size
Ample power (20W)
Low price
Good ergonomics/design/finish
Long battery life (2200mAh)
Great performance

iStick negatives:
Calibrated in mean/avg voltage rather than RMS; not a deal-breaker, but sort of foolish on eLeaf's part
Doesn't step down; may not perform well with all cartos/clearos/tanks that need lower voltage settings
Slight "rattlesnake" effect from 48Hz PWM; not a big deal to me
Soft threads on the 510 connector; take care to avoid cross-threading or use an adapter to protect the threads
Only average quality of parts and manufacturing; to be expected, given the price
Fixed internal battery; must be recharged via usb; not much of a negative, though
Won't sub-ohm; not even relevant for most users

In balance, the iStick is one of the best variable-wattage regulated APV's I've purchased. Better than a VAMO or MVP. Much nicer than a kicked mechanical. Longevity yet to be determined (all five of mine are fine after three months).

You won't have it for Christmas, but I would recommend getting an MVP 20. It's a much better battery, also 20 watts but with a step down, which means it will actually fire below 4.2 volts, and spring-loaded 510 connection. In other words, the MVP 20 addresses the two main problems plaguing the iStick.

It's not as cute, but it's better and the price is similar. I've seen them on pre-order for 39 bucks or so.

I LOVE mine. I currently have 2, and have another on order. Pair it with a Nautilus Mini and I think you will love it. Just my :2c:, but I'm using Nauti Mini on all of mine and love, love, love it.

I also have an eGrip and love that too. There are a lot of nice options for vapers out these days...

They just came on the market, so no, I haven't used them before. My order from fasttech will probably be delivered after Xmas. I've rebuilt Kanger heads with vertical coils, but in regular EVOD-style heads the short diameter and length of the chamber where the coil sits makes a vertical-coil rebuild more of a hassle. Higher-gauge wire (32ga and up) is necessary to avoid shorting. In addition, getting the smooth, airy draw I like is challenging, since only small coils fit. I'm hoping that these new heads will have a slightly larger chamber.

I don't know. I too hope it's not fiberglass or ceramic. The picture on fasttech showed what looked like a "traditional" wicking material, some kind of batting. I ordered them with the intention of rebuilding the heads with new coils and cotton or rayon wicks.

I'll let you know what I think of them next month.

Have you tried rebuilding dual-coil atties with a single coil? I've seen a tutorial from a guy who rebuilds Kanger BDCs with an oval coil--it's a single coil but it fills the entire empty space in the atty. He uses zipties to wind his coils! Pretty clever.

Innokin MVP 3.0 20 Watt - Vapor Tek USA

Just my :2c:

Katya,

Do you know the dimensions of the 20-watt MVP? Apparently only one of three models has been shown so far, and I haven't seen any dimensions listed. The MVP 20 appears to be the same size as the existing MVPs, which would make it a no-go for me---I love the diminutive size of the iStick.

I'm watching the scramble among manufacturers to come up with an iStick killer. So far, nothing has really excited me. I don't care about getting 30 watts or higher; I don't sub-ohm (well, not much---I do sub-ohm RDAs on some of my bottom feeders), and everything in the pipeline I've seen so far is both bigger in size and more expensive than the iStick. Heck, my five iSticks cost me an average of $27 each. That's hard to beat.

eLeaf left themselves vulnerable, though, by using mean vs. rms calibration and having a sub-par 510 connector with its soft threads (shades of VAMOs!). I understand eLeaf's decision to use a non-replaceable battery with usb charging, but an IMR 18650 would be an improvement to my eyes. Surely some company will come up with a serious challenge before too long. Perhaps Innokin will surprise me.

To the best of my knowledge, the MVP 20 is the same size as the other MVPs. Haven't seen any specs anywhere, though.

I'm actually hoping that the MVP 3 will be redesigned, so I'm still waiting. I also hope that the promised "high-end" version will come with Evolv's DNA 40 board. But there's absolutely no information to be found anywhere on the subject except for Innokin's initial announcement.

So yeah, if want a small cute mod, the iStick is it. :D

My Istick is starting to get wonky on me. It's changing wattage settings on its own. Is anyone else experiencing this?

My 2 work exactly as delivered - going back weeks now. I put probably 6 ml of juice through primarily the black (most stealthy) one daily.I also don't have threading issues nor do I use any adapters.

Well one month in and having my first issue with one of my isticks. I have 3, red, silver & black. I have been using mini nautilus, vivi novas, and k1's on all three. The k1 is ego thread, so I use the adapter for those. Yesterday the red istick stopped working with the k1. It reads "no atomizer found". The other tanks still work on the red stick, and the k1's still work on my other sticks, but the red stick and k1's just won't play well together anymore. Should I attempt to pull the center pin up? I'm a little leery of doing that because I've never attempted it and I don't wanna ruin the red istick, it still works fine with other tanks.

What to do, what to do??

I love mine. I now leave my provari mini at home collecting dust. Once you mate the iStick with the right topper its battery capacity combined with the form factor are unbeatable for me.

Get that bendable adapter with a floating pin? Or try circuit board spacers from Madvapes???

The links to MadVapes don't work here, but this is what they look like:

I wouldn't know--mine has been on its lowest setting (voltage mode) from day one. I have no idea what kind of voltage it's putting out.

Yeah, they do get wonky... Sorry, SKYl!
