I see only 30% of the people in the poll had connecter problems, not bad.

That would be only 27% having problems it seems. One word of advice for everyone would be if you are not using the 510/eGo adapter or have the Bending Adapter that is available for the 20w model is to simply go easy when putting a tank on or taking one off. Taking a close look at the threading on the tanks being used for any nics or burs would be an idea as well since that can damage the threads on the ISticks.

I'd bypass the kanger 2's, their old and outdated.
Get an aspire - es bvc coil tank.
Smaller then the nautilus mini, and produces great flavor and vapor.

Thanks to everyone for the responses. I'm the kind of person that will want to push it a bit if I am perceiving better flavor, but - not a whole lot.
I'm also simultaneously concerned about doing something stupid that is less healthy, and I don't trust myself to "taste" the danger.

I don't see myself graduating to advanced tanks and coils anytime soon, if ever, so I guess I will use the existing charts - and then maybe push it just a bit beyond.
I happen to really enjoy the simplicity and results from my EVOD tanks, and my next step from there will simply be to glass Kanger Pro Tank Mini 2s.

I'm convinced that this stick won't be a bomb in my hand, though, so thanks folks for helping me find my first inexpensive mod.
I was going to go the tube route, but, I don't see why I should do that for my next step.

My wife is completely happy with her current equipment. I just wanted to surprise her with a nice gift. I 'm not goin to give it to her if I don't find it suitable. I don't understand why I should let her choose a gift I want to give her. Do you know how hard it is to find a gift every year for your wife after 40 years of marriage?? The fushia and the blue are both bright, brilliant colors. I like them both.

I completely understand the gift motive.

Let me just say this, you do have the right to find a suitable gift for your bride, period. If you do not think it is worthy, so be it. Can't tell you how many suitable gifts I've purchased over the years only to later find out they sit in a drawer unused, or having been returned.

Not trying to sell you on the idea of the iStick. But, given the form factor, size, battery life, this thing is an amazing piece. I do like it for those reasons, it has more than enough power, and battery life to last me over a full day and then some (depending on stress) something my VV didn't have. I am hard on my gear that I use at work, and I still use both of mine to this day, mt iPV will likely remain at home waiting patiently.Many have found using the EGO-to-510 adapter suited the thread/pin issues worked very well. Personally I didn't care for using the EGO 510 adapter and a beauty ring to help prevent thread issues.

I foresee that this will be the year of ultra small box mods. So if you are so inclined to find something you deem to be a suitable device, return or sell the one you bought and wait for one of the many new devices to hit the market. Although I am sure we will find issues with those as well. Or let her see it and let her make the decision herself. Either way I'm sure both of you will be happy in the end and that is what matters most.

Just got my iStick and Protank 3 today. So far, I am in love! The plan was for this setup to be my home vape and keep my Genitank/iPow for portable but I just may have to order another iStick and possibly an Aspire Nautilus for my daily driver. Gotta say, impressed so far.

The only "issue" I had is attaching the Protank 3. The threads with the stock air adapter were rough going in, but once I switched out to the adjustable airflow base it went in smooth as buttah. Weird nonetheless, though.

In semiconductor supply and development contracts I've negotiated, epidemic failure rates are typically set anywhere between 2%-5% depending on the supplier. A 27% failure rate in any industry is atrocious.

I'll have to ask my youngest son about that since he's a math teacher and was put on the faculty to tutor Auburn football players in calculus when he was attending there. I seriously think that rate would be far different in a vaping forum. Anyway it's of no consequence one way or another. I wasn't trying to reveal the percentage of faulty isticks. Someone else referred me to that poll. I was only trying to show my math was right in saying the poll results showed 30% faulty connecters versus the 27% that I was being corrected with. I could care less about the poll. I initially was making a joke about it. The world is losin it's sense of humor or I'm in the Twilight Zone

The problem with the 510 connectors is in the design of the 510 connection altogether. It was designed (poorly) to be used with cigalikes in a more disposable unit usage.

Any power connection in common use has a tongue and socket construction with the two conductors positively separated, never a conductor butted against another and as close as it is in a 510 connector. Look at any power cord for your computer, laptop, tablet, or the charging cables for all your electronics, none have a positive connection similar to the 510 connector.

Poor connections have been discussed, and work around methods posted as long as I have been reading ECF. The fixes provided by manufacturers have been to use floating center pins, adjustable pins and spring loaded pins to cover up the shortcomings of the design.

Once the pin problem is covered over there is the problem of the threading. Does anyone believe the $5-$10 topper you screw in has precision cut threading, a precise diameter? Go to the hardware store and find any bolt with the same diameter with threads as fine as a 510, larger bolts always have coarser threading. Cutting very fine threads on a larger diameter item is difficult and expensive. Fine for high priced precision instruments, for an APV or topper, unrealistic.
