holy cow batman!! I thought I was bad with volts and egos hahahaha I have a LOT to learn clearly!

Just keep in mind you dont have to buy all that stuff. The 1st PV I purchased over a year ago did what it was supposed to do.
It wasn't until I started hanging out on ECF that me & my bank account stopped seeing eye to eye.

I get called into work early, come home, shovel snow and then see 5 NEW pages in the istick thread...

Busy Monday.

I was thinking about getting a wrap for one of mine, but today with the snow and sub-zero cold, it never once slipped from my hand, naked or gloved. So I think I'll just continue to appreciate the royal blue color.

I looked at this poll:

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/polls/619469-eleaf-istick-connector-poll.html

Threads faulty out of the box 2.22%
Threads have become sloppy 15.00%
Topper won't fit if it is screwed on 12.78%
=30.00%

Topper won't fit if it is screwed on 12.78%
Topper won't fit if it is "screwed up"! 12.78% can also apply!

That sounds more like an issue with the tank end of the equation especially since there are all kinds of tanks out there coming from any number of sources. And if you have a cheap tank with soft threads that has a nic or has a bur in the threading and force that on it can tear up the threading on any mod. This is one reason I made the suggestion earlier about closely inspecting the threading on any tanks that will be used in case one has a problem before damaging the threads on anything essentially.

Threads have become sloppy 15.00% Another thing no one seems to include is using too much force to get a tank on as well as having a tank with worn threads being an actual cause. People often don't want to admit they handled something too rough and had an oops?! The 30% isn't written in stone afterall. A lot of that can come from being used to larger batteries and mods with more play in the threading either from manufacture or wear over time and then slam a tank without realizing it isn't going on as easy as something else due to worn or sloppy threading on the tank itself.

Just got my iStick and Protank 3 today. So far, I am in love! The plan was for this setup to be my home vape and keep my Genitank/iPow for portable but I just may have to order another iStick and possibly an Aspire Nautilus for my daily driver. Gotta say, impressed so far.

The only "issue" I had is attaching the Protank 3. The threads with the stock air adapter were rough going in, but once I switched out to the adjustable airflow base it went in smooth as buttah. Weird nonetheless, though.
Be Veeeeeery careful with those threads. I think Protanks were always rough on all my mods and I agree that the ACV threads are a little better. When you get your Nautilus, you will find that the threads seem to be a match made in heaven for the iStick (Smooth as silk).

For the time being you may to use the 510/eGo adapter to eliminate the worry about any crossthreading problems If a tank doesn't ease on right away never force it on! Sometime in manufacturing you can find a hard to see at times bur in the threading on something that only wear overt time will take off. Unfortunately that isn't good for any mod particularly the iStick 20w it seems. If you buy a box of fasteners you will see much more ot this type of problem.

Thanks Shary! Maybe I'll go with the blue this time around. :)

I had a one time solution here.

Yeah, and when I get a blue one, I'm sure I'll have to run out and get yet another. You'd think that most of us never had toys for Christmas, the way we buy up these toys!

Update:
I particularly don't care about whether Eleaf puts an RMS mode in or not, in the future, although it would be nice for all the people that have been asking for it, but, I'm not sure if it is an easy task to do, on their part.
I just wanted to give the people that were concerned with it a final heads up on the 30 watt. I finally got word back on this from HeavenGifts...
Email:
Dear Friend,

We contacted factory and [Pre-order] 30W Eleaf iStick 2200mAh OLED Screen MOD Battery just has an regular DC (direct current) output mode. NO RMS mode.
Thanks for your attention.

Greetings,
Heaven Gifts

So there you have it. I only contacted them about the 30 (not the 50). I'm sure the 50 most likely isn't going to have that mode either.
The iStick worked out to my advantage because at the same time I bought it, I started using Nautilus'. So, from then on, I started using the mean mode on my other mods because of the iStick. :) Now, I hope that the Mean mode never goes obsolete. It's funny because I thought I would never have any use for it.

Agree, and that wasn't "won't fit". It's "won't fire". That's the pin insulator, not the threads.

Just a comment on the poll. It is dated 10-31-14. Those who responded may very well be the early adopters. They are the ones who went into uncharted water, experienced and discussed the good, as well as, the bad. I did not purchase my first iStick until November. Due to the experiences of the early adopters the water was well charted. I knew exactly what I was getting. There has been no buyers remorse.

The iStick may not be for everyone. For this ol' woman, it is darn near perfect. My fingers wrap around it as if it was custom made and it is very easy to use. It doesn't hurt that it has eye appeal. It is soooo cute.

For ego clearos I use the 510/ego adapter. The adapter fits nicely and I think it looks nice. I screw the Nautilus minis directly into the 510 connector. The instant I feel the slightest resistance from the threads I stop and start over. One person mentioned going the oposite direction to catch the threads. Then, proceeding in the correct direction. It works. When I think about it I hold the clearo so that the clearo threads are kind of floating between the iStick threads. I do not tighten the the clearo all the way to the top of the iStick. There is a gap of 1 or 2 business cards (I measured) between the bottom of the Nautilus mini and the top of the iStick.

I am also careful with the USB port. I have one connector that seems to fit better and goes in smoother than the others. I use that one almost exclusively unless I want to charge more than one at a time which is rare.

I am kind of attracted to the iStick mini but am concerned that it may be too small and thick to fit in the hand comfortably. Again, I'll wait until I see pics and read the experiences of the early adopters, especially the ladies.

FWIW, I did not vote in the pole. At least, I don't think I did.

I see that Vapenw is charging a flat rate of 6 dollars for shipping. I'm having second thoughts on my 2nd iStick. I don't have shallow pockets, but I'm not sure if I want to pay 6 for shipping.
I'll probably end up doing it anyhow, but it would be nice if they had a coup. code to eliminate some of the shipping.

'k, so, I have been keeping up with this thread and have read the whole thing, but never had any reason to post.

Probably because of this thread, I'm happy with my iSticks (all 3). I love the size and battery life. I've avoided any possible troubles with the thread by using the ego adapter and a beauty ring. My 1.8 BDC and BVC coils work just fine at the lowest voltage/wattage settings.

so, thanks :)

I haven't voted in the poll yet- since i wanted to give it some time, and reporting no problems with the threads since I make sure not to stress them seems...disingenuous

That's what I do. As soon as it makes solid contact, it's in.
I took the bending adapter off because I didn't need or want the extra pressure on the center pin.
BTW, That Poll is still open, so you can still vote.
It's been re-posted periodically throughout this thread with notes to wait a week or so before voting.

It's been mathematically proven that 6 times as many people with faulty equipment vote in polls as compared to people with working equipment. Therefore, the true number of bad threads on isticks (compromising all three categories) would be 5%

It is my understanding more people come to forums with problems or to complain, than to praise thee. I'm guilty. I have only started 2 or 3 ECF threads. One was the new member introduction. The other, that I remember, was about Aspire bvc coils that taste like rubber. No vote in the poll.

I haven't voted in the poll either for several reasons.

1. I don't use my iStick much when I'm home because I use a homemade 5 volt pass through with a Squid RDA most of the time.

2. I've read this whole thread and I learned the value of using the ego adapter to reduce the wear and tear on the threads. I rarely take mine off.

3. When the poll was first posted, I had just received my iStick and I still haven't had any problems with it for the reasons stated above.

I think most of the problems with the iStick are due to bad materials and quality control. My second iStick has crooked threads that cause the topper to lean forward just a bit. The top of the iStick is made of a soft alloy and the threads are bound to wear out if the user doesn't leave the ego adapter on. The center pin isn't adjustable or spring loaded but neither are most inexpensive devices.

There have been several ideas posted here about possible repairs that can be done to the 510 connector, including my idea of drilling out the 510 and press fitting an old style 510 connector in. If my threads strip out I will attempt to do just that. If it doesn't work, I'll try one of the other suggestions.

If the battery dies, I'll try to replace it.

If the charging port breaks, I'll probably take the guts out and put them in a box with a charging board (they're cheap on ebay). I'll build it so the battery can be removed and charged in an external charger or replaced.

I paid $30 for my first one and $18 for my second one. That averages out to $24 each. Even if I didn't do the repairs and assuming they last for close to a year, that's good enough for me.

My wife is completely happy with her current equipment. I just wanted to surprise her with a nice gift. Do you know how hard it is to find a gift every year for your wife after 40 years of marriage??

After you give your iStick gift to your wife...and she loves it...and you then decide to get 3-5 more of them...you may want to consider the 30WiStick.

It's about the same "wonderful" size as the original but has a stainless steel threaded spring loaded 510 connection.
