Hello friends, been awhile since I have visited this thread. Just gotta question, hopefully someone can point me in the right direction.

So my local vape shop gave me a 30 watt istick today. Apparently the owner returned it for exchange because it was saying "protection" on occasion. So I brought it home, threw on my Orchid with a 0.5 ohm build, and it worked ok. Strangely, at 25 watts, it seems a little weak, and it also seems like the mod is getting warm. If I take it up past 27 watts, it says protection and wont fire. I tried to throw my tugboat on their at 0.35, and it says "atomizer." So I assume it will not go below 0.5.

Just wondering if anyone would know what could be the issue. I cleaned up the contacts, took the top off to check the pin and oring, as well as the wiring and solder contacts. All wire are clean and snug. I just don't understand why it says protection when I go above 27 watts on a 0.5 ohm build. And for some very strange reason, at 25 watts it seems rather weak. Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated.

Ryan....I would suggest not maxing the battery out...if you want to vape at higher watts, an iStick 50 would have been a much better choice.

Try the EHPro Kayfun Nano (3ml), its an easy rebuild, comes with 4 different colored tanks and is a great performer on an iStick.

Hey troll you better either sillycone case, or wrap that 20 before Katdarling sees it an shames you into oblivion. ;)

I see that SweetVapes has them in stock but the shipping to Canada would be more than the case. There needs to be an option in shipping where they just flatten it and put it in a mailer for $2. :)

That 20W has been through the mill and back, not bad for a 6 months old device.

Yeah all of mine are very character rich too, but to keep Kat happy I carbonfibered them :)

TROLL! What did you DO to that thang!!! Oh mamma mia, don't make me go all Pokemom on you!!! (I'm not even sure what that means.)

<ahemcoughahem> One buckarooney and 15 centavos. Eleaf Silicon Case for iStick - Cvapor.com

Hopefully they ship to Canada, eh? ;)

The 20 is a little rugged... It lives in my pocket with my EDC of a Gerber Clutch, Paraframe Mini, Keys and Change...

Dennis from FatDaddy Vapes says the new 510 V4 connector gives it a more masculine look. :)

Not to fear, I will have a solution for it shortly. :2cool:

Ryan....I would suggest not maxing the battery out...if you want to vape at higher watts, an iStick 50 would have been a much better choice.

I have mods with much higher capabilities than 50 watts. This iStick 30 was given to me for free, so I was just feeling it out within it's known parameters.

Anyway, this was all done on a near dead battery. Once I got back up to a full charge, it now has no issues with pushing the 30 watts on a .5 build. So I assume it just struggles with a near dead battery. I normally wouldn't push it to the max, but it was part of my investigation to narrow down the problems, and it helped me find the resolution. Funny thing is, the 20 watt iStick would hit HARD even on a 1.2-ish build, to where I would have to really turn it down to tame it. So I figured that the 30 watt would be the same, plus some. Guess I will try a higher resistance and see if it comes to life, although scientifically that makes no sense lol. I like a hot crackin' vape.

All in all, cool to have a freebie, which is very rare in my world. Not to mention one that is functional.

Cheers. :toast:
