Hear me out. E-cigs are simply a substitute, hell even a worse substitute for smoking. I have been addicted for 5 years now, and I used E-cigs for 2 of those years. People, smoking cigarettes is not the problem, the problem is nicotine! It is the DRUG, a highly addictive one at that, which keeps you addicted. Now imagine you have a hand tool at your disposal at all times, doesn't require going outside and lighting up in a controlled fashion, just a tool that you can press a button any time to get the nicotine, that is what an E-cig is! I know I ingested the most nicotine ever when I used a vape. The fact that you can just press the button several times a minute and inhale with no concern means you will ingest more nicotine. And of course, with the way our brains work, you will become more powerless to avoid pressing that button and inhaling, because it feels oh so good with every cloud. Another problem I wanted to address is your skin. There have been a lot of questions and rumors about vaping and acne. These aren't rumors, they are fact. Persistent vaping each day will indeed cause skin problems, especially on your face. It is not traditional acne, it is a form of skin necrosis. Nicotine is a vasoconstrictor, and of course vaping encourages an even more prevelant dosage of nicotine in your blood stream at all times of the day. This constant vaping, along with the effect of propelyne glycol, a main ingredient in E liquids (also used in anti-freeze) will dry out the skin and constrict the flow of skin enriching nutrients through your blood vessels. This will cause dry, itchy, irritated skin with in-grown red bumps. This happens because you are constantly de-hydrating your skin while simultaneously constricting the blood vessels. Whether it's cigarettes or vapes, both are just horrible for your lungs, heart and your skin. My advice is to seek professional help, and maybe start on a nicotine gum or lozenge that you can ween off of. Those products are not pleasurable compared to vaping, which is why they will work better in terms of quitting. Vaping nicotine will never make you quit because vaping feels even better!

Congratulations! You are the most uninformed alleged vaper to ever post on ECF. Honestly, that really took some doing.

The acne is from quitting smoking, something a wee bit of research would have told you.

PG is in many things including bread, toothpaste, fog machines, cupcakes, soap, asthma inhalers, etc. It’s in animal SAFE antifreeze because it's nontoxic and, hello, doesn't freeze at normal temperatures. Seriously, do your bloody homework before posting a rant on here, otherwise you look like a fool.

Oh yeah, nicotine has many medical application but you probably don’t even care about them. Ever wonder why so many “mentally-disabled” homeless smoke? No, probably not, considering your post. Way to go, you caring person. Look it up yourself.

Hope you don’t eat potatoes, tomatoes, cauliflower, etc. and get hooked on the nicotine from them either. God knows you might have a heart attack from your salad.

@Robert Cromwell, don’t be a killjoy, we’ve needed a good free-for-all thread for a while now. Have at it everybody while the getting is good.

    Yikes! Just to report:
I'm getting less nicotine vaping than I ever did smoking cigs.
I smell nice. Today people said I smelled like cinnamon rolls.
My skin is clear and clean. No pimples here and with excersize I have a nice youthful glow. Folks say I have the skin of a 24 year old (I'm 34).

My advice is to seek professional help, and maybe start on a nicotine gum or lozenge that you can ween off of.

Please explain to me why you believe nic gum can ween you off cigs but vaping can't (by reducing your nicotine level downwards, it's very easy to do with eliquid.)

I am one such person. I use ZERO% nicotine in my vape.

I will agree on some things, vasoconstrictor, yes. wouldn't recommend nicotine to somebody with serious heart disease and/or someone who was going to have heart surgery.

Skin - yes, vaping can dry it out if you don't hydrate.

What I dont like about vaping, as a woman, is that like smoking, the constant pursing of lips around a drip tip will give you the same wrinkles around your lips (mostly above top lip) that cigs will. You can always spot a former smoker or smoker by looking at older women who have those LOL

So I used vaping to quit smoking, and am pretty close to quitting vaping so why would I need nic gum????

So what do you guys really think? I think you can call off the attack dogs now. You know, maybe this guy believes all that and we could have given him some good information to read. I guess not.

I did that and I was polite.

My doctor is the one who encouraged me to quit smoking, and was terribly excited that I was able to quit through the use of ecigarettes when nothing else we tried had helped me.

Her words were, nothing is always better, but vaping is much much better than smoking. She asks me how it's going with every doctors visit, and is extremely supportive of vaping.

And she is not your usual pharmaceutical pusher. She loves to prescribe vitamins and exercise more than medication, it's what I like the most about her.. I think I'd rather listen to someone with a PhD in medicine, whose goal is healing, than some idiot on the internet.

Whose goal is what? To try and get everyone back on the same things that were NOT helpful for quitting smoking?

I have no side effects from vaping, I'm a whole lot healthier and happier than when I smoked, and I can go without nicotine anytime.. I like the benefits of it myself, and it does have them. But, when you and the fda make ejuice impossible to buy, ill make my own, and vape without nicotine.. But I'm not stopping vaping because of uninformed opinions..

If you don't want to vape, then quit. No one is forcing you to vape.. It's the habit that is addictive, not the nicotine per se and you can wean yourself off that if you find that nicotine is habit forming for you personally.. just decrease the level of nicotine in your juice periodically until your no longer using nicotine, then wean yourself off the hand to mouth habit.

What you may not realize is that this forum is full of people who already tried gum, patches, Chantix, Zyban, hypnosis and simple cold turkey and didn't succeed in stopping smoking. If we followed your line of thinking, many of us would still be smoking with the morbid health results. Some of us likely would be dead.

I applaud any successful approach to reduce smoking and cannot understand entering a forum focused on this solution just to tell those that succeeded that they are wrong. I suggest getting more information about the consequences of smoking versus vaping before calling ecigs worse than smoking. I think you will find you are mistaken.

All the nicotine maybe why america is addicted to tomatoes lol. Pasta, pizza, dipping, seasoning, toppings, ect...
    Tomatoes have nicotine too.

Maybe we should all quit eating tomatoes. Its bad for us going by OP standards.

OR people should eat more tomatoes instead of smoking to get their nicotine fix.
