OP - Everyone is entitled to his/her own opinion. However, when that opinion appears to be based mostly upon misinformation (and/or the lack of factual information), yet is posted as if it were factual...it's bound to be disagreed with strongly by others. Your post contains SO MUCH of that, it's hard to find the words and the space to hopefully provide you with the correct information. So, I won't "go there" at all. Instead, here's some personal info. I hope you'll consider:

(1) I was a 1 - 1 1/2 pack a day smoker for 42 years, who'd tried many of the "smoking cessation" products you mentioned in your post. None of them worked. vaping did!

(2) I was diagnosed with mild COPD about 16 years ago. Since I've been vaping...there is NO medical evidence of that mild COPD now, based upon my regular test results for it.

(3) At every doctor's check-up since I've started vaping and quit smoking...my doctor says my lungs continue to sound clearer than they have in many years. He also gave me a huge "high 5" when I started vaping to quit smoking!

(4) The nicotine level I'm vaping is actually lower than the nicotine I regularly got in the cigarettes I smoked for 42 years.

In addition to my personal medical info., you may also want to consider the following:

Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, FL is conducting a 4 year long, $3 million study on ecigarettes. (It's a highly respected, nationally known Cancer Center.) They're trying to find out if ecigarettes should be classified as a smoking cessation alternative. The current products designated as such, DON'T HAVE a high success rate, yet many many former smokers worldwide have successfully quit with the help of vaping. Moffitt's study participants include those who are current smokers only, smokers who also vape, and former smokers who've successfully quit smoking by vaping.

Part of their testing/study involves having various participants test different types of vaping hardware & methods, different nicotine levels in eliquids, various flavors/types of eliquids, etc. They also have bloodwork testing done on participants to check their oxygen levels, nicotine levels, etc. as the study progresses. I know these details are factual because I'm a member of 1 of the study groups.

Last, here's a terrific article about nicotine, that will provide you with some true information on it. Hopefully it will clear up some things for you regarding it:

Well alright then....Welcome to ECF. Now that you have had your mind filled with lies by outrageous news articles you are now at a place where you will hear the truth about vaping and hopefully you will open your mind to the truth. It is sad that there are folks out there that truly do believe all the lies about this life saving miracle....just follow the money

Some people honestly will complain about using vaping as a smoking cessation program.. And not blink an eye at this:

How To Use Prescription NICOTROL® Inhaler (nicotine inhalation system) (prescription vaping)

Lol.. this is why there is all this false information flying around.. big pharma wants a piece of the pie, big tobacco wants it as inaccessible as possible if they can't hone in on the pie for their piece, and politicians do what the money people tell them to.

And people fall for the lies every single day. It makes me mad, that people won't do research prior to making a judgment.. And those who simply work for these industries and spread lies.

As for me, rather than driving the cost of insurance even further through the roof.. I'll stick with the over the counter version of vaping... I started that before there even was a prescription version available. The pharmaceutical companies are just going for their piece of a pie that was found to actually work. They didn't do the research, we did it for them and now they are trying to kill competition in a very successful market with lies and laws.

Welcome to the ECF. If you were bored yesterday and were simply seeking attention, you have succeeded. Two friendly suggestions on the off chance you post here again:
Please hit the return key--your post would be much more readable with paragraph breaks.
Declarations regarding matters of science and medicine lack credibility without supporting references.

In fairness, I personally would have phrased it "you are now at a place where you can figure out the truth".

Just like on the other side, there is a lot of pro-vape "propaganda" here too. Just peruse the threads and you will find plenty of misinformed opinions, often stated as facts, much like (but opposite of) the OP's post. Much of what we have to say is anecdotal, without a lot of science to back it up. At least here you will find any real science that has been done. And even if anecdotal, personal experience (if presented objectively) certainly means something.

My doctor put it this way.
"Vaping has not been around/studied long enough for us to know all of the cold hard facts about it yet. But... it has been around long enough that we can draw conclusions by what we see coming into the doctors office in the form of complaints and ailments. The total lack of medical situations which we can attribute to vaping is telling, in and of itself."

While he said it would be better if I didnt do either, he strongly encouraged me to continue vaping, rather than returning to smoking tobacco. Since I have been vaping for 3+ years without smoking, he also modified my medical charts to reflect me as a "former smoker".

Wow interesting thread LOL. Welcome OP, you have visited a forum that has pro vapers and many success stories using vapor products. We have years of experience and Dr reports of our personal health improving with vaping so you will hear the "rest of the story" from our side of the fence :) please tell us what vape products you used and what Nic level of ejuice and did you try reducing your Nic level? Most all of us reduced our level over time. I am at 3 mg and started at 12. I also eat salad daily with Nic veggies, so I get my needed Nic from food too, but I still enjoy vaping :) 5 yrs for me smoke free. I never tried Nic gum tho, I don't really like to chew gum.

Or for those who prefer something without a prescription (at least in the UK), there's even a minty mouth spray https://www.amazon.com/Nicorette-QuickMist-Mouthspray-150-Freshmint/dp/B004UEB65U .Freshen your breathe while taking a spray.

Funny enough, it's even presented as an option merely to use when you can't smoke a cigarette, which doesn't even sound like a nicotine cessation product. Really, here,
"It can be used to help you quit, cut down or even when you are unable to smoke for example, in front of children, at work or whilst travelling. This mouth spray provides a safer alternative to smoking for you and those around you. How do I use it?"

Hear me out. E-cigs are simply a substitute, hell even a worse substitute for smoking. I have been addicted for 5 years now, and I used E-cigs for 2 of those years. People, smoking cigarettes is not the problem, the problem is nicotine! It is the DRUG, a highly addictive one at that, which keeps you addicted. Now imagine you have a hand tool at your disposal at all times, doesn't require going outside and lighting up in a controlled fashion, just a tool that you can press a button any time to get the nicotine, that is what an E-cig is! I know I ingested the most nicotine ever when I used a vape. The fact that you can just press the button several times a minute and inhale with no concern means you will ingest more nicotine. And of course, with the way our brains work, you will become more powerless to avoid pressing that button and inhaling, because it feels oh so good with every cloud. Another problem I wanted to address is your skin. There have been a lot of questions and rumors about vaping and acne. These aren't rumors, they are fact. Persistent vaping each day will indeed cause skin problems, especially on your face. It is not traditional acne, it is a form of skin necrosis. Nicotine is a vasoconstrictor, and of course vaping encourages an even more prevelant dosage of nicotine in your blood stream at all times of the day. This constant vaping, along with the effect of propelyne glycol, a main ingredient in E liquids (also used in anti-freeze) will dry out the skin and constrict the flow of skin enriching nutrients through your blood vessels. This will cause dry, itchy, irritated skin with in-grown red bumps. This happens because you are constantly de-hydrating your skin while simultaneously constricting the blood vessels. Whether it's cigarettes or vapes, both are just horrible for your lungs, heart and your skin. My advice is to seek professional help, and maybe start on a nicotine gum or lozenge that you can ween off of. Those products are not pleasurable compared to vaping, which is why they will work better in terms of quitting. Vaping nicotine will never make you quit because vaping feels even better!

@joseph pasquarella - I do hope you come back in here. LOTS of valuable info!! :)

And welcome to ECF.

you just gotta make Vaping work for ya

Fair enough Mike. Sometimes my thoughts don't come out well in the written word. :(

That actually just seems stupid, especially considering I went through withdrawals when I stopped smoking and started vaping. I'm not exactly sure why all these people think the only addictive portion of smoking cigarettes is nicotine. If it was, anyone and everyone could easily beat the addiction using patches or other such replacements for smokes.

If Marlboro made a nicotine free cigarette, I'd put money on it that it would still be addictive.

Although I am certain nicotine use can become something of a dependency much like caffeine, I don't recall seeing proof that it is what would be considered an addictive substance. When dropping nicotine levels in vaping I may have felt a little jittery for a day or two. It was dramatically different than trying to cut down on my cigarette usage, which led me to becoming an angry ........ Or an even angrier ......., depending on who you asked.
