Electronics and vapor

So I was sitting around playing Xbox and messing around on the computer when I started to notice my vapor drifting over towards the fan ports. Now I know with actual smoking the residue can cling on to the fans and other electronic components and could cause damage. Like over working the motor for the fan due to the extra weight or coating heat sinks etc... It could prevent the systems from dispersing heat properly/efficiently. If im in a room with no draft I can see the vapor settle to the ground.

Are there any risks to electronic devices due to e-cig vapor?

If he trusts several grand worth of electronics to be around a fair amount of vapor, and has yet to see any negative consequences, I'm gonna imagine your Xbox will be OK

You could always install an exhaust fan above you, but I have tv's outside all through the ( 100 % humidity ) summer and now on the third year..
I would think the oils in the vapor are much better than H2O vapor..

I would expect the VG mostly to build up slowly, maybe whatever is used in the 'flavoring' as well. There has been a few posts here relating to in-car vaping and windshields. Definitely not as bad as tobacco smoke though!

I use 50/50 juice and I vape when on the computer. There is a film that does buildup on my keyboard. Dust does stick to it.

I can't see it buggering up electronic devices, strange.

Well it may take quite a long time for detriments to take place, like years probably, but maybe months, but fan motors could be forced harder, thus maybe overheating them, or a film might build up on chips making them not operate as well due to heat.

When i used to cloud chase only and did it while driving, even tho i had my window open and exhaled the cloud towards the window, there was still a film buildup at the windscreen

That's what I was curious about as well. Anyway thanks for the information guys. I guess time will tell. But with people saying it leaves a film, that concerns me. If smoking didn't mess them up then I'm sure Vaping won't. I'll take my computer apart and see if any vapor residue is present.

Also Sparky, most of the time when electronic components get wet and dry they continue to work. As long as there is no power they should be fine. Like if you spilled water on a computer, the sooner you shut it down the better your chances. Take it apart and use compressed air to dry everything. My main concern was the extra weight on fans and heatsink blockage.

Vapor leaves film on cold surfaces. Less so on hot surfaces. jm2c

I just cleaned out my computer for the first time in a year and a half and it was filthy inside. The dust sticks everywhere. Near the fans, there was some moist spots. It's not as sticky as cigarette dust but I did have to wipe each blade on all the fans.

I keep my juice on my computer desk and that's where I fill my tanks. Even if you are careful you get drops of juice falling out while you do that, at least I do, and it ends up on the keyboard. I had one large drop land on the down arrow key and I didn't notice it right away, it ate through the shiny surface of the key. I've got juice underneath several keys as well, I can see it glistening when I look down the gaps around the edges of the keys.

The keyboard still works OK so far. Just being lazy. My monitor is on a wall mount so I could move it back and push the keyboard shelf in and mess with tanks on the front of the desk instead of over the keyboard.
