Hi everybody! This is my first post ever. I've been researching and enjoying this forum for about two weeks, and vaping for about eight days now. I used to smoke seven cigs per day, and I've only smoked three in the last eight days since I purchased an Njoy Ncig. (one of the batteries didn't work at all from Day 1 and I've been limping along on one good battery while waiting for Njoy to send a replacement.)

Anyway, I've started making my own liquid mixes, mainly using VG, Lorann's and extracts from supermarkets. One product (I guess it is an extract) that I bought recently is Frontier "alcohol free almond flavor." It says that it is premium quality and all natural. I found it at Whole Foods market, and two ounces (59 ml) costs $4.00.

Here's the thing: the ingredient list says, "Glycerin, water, natural bitter almond oil." The bottle looked like it had room for an additional milliliter of distilled water, so I added that, bringing the total to 60ml. I shook it up to mix in the extra water, and dripped it right into an empty cart.

It vapes like crazy, tastes great, and leaves a faint aroma of almond cookies in the air! Has anyone had any success in vaping something like that pretty much straight out of the bottle?

Not supposed to vape anything with "oil" cause it can kill an atomizer.. but there are plenty of "lorann's OILS" which have NO oil in them. Read ingredients on their website.

Thanks for the info Spikey. I did a quick look at a Lorann Special:
Princess Cake And Cookie Bakery Emulsion
Product Number:0756-0800
Kosher Certified. Contains: Water, Propylene Glycol, Natural and Artificial Flavors, Xanthan Gum, Caramel Color. Soluble in water.

Aside from assaulting my masculinity with this product, I couldn't find anything negative on Xanthan Gum on a quick forum search, though I did find a lot of warnings on oils.

Hexum, I'm not sure that I'd want to run xanthan gum through my atomizer...

I cook with the stuff a lot, since I have to bake gluten free and even unheated it gets, well, gummy. If it gets wet and then dries out the stuff is concrete as are most binder gums.

They no doubt put it in there to make the flavoring thicker.

Hello everyone. My first post =)
Can someone tell me the difference between PG, VG and Glycerol?
I thought PG was Glycerol... But apparently not. I can only find Glycerol BP
(pharmacy grade) and VG in a local healthfood store (even though I am
a bit concerned to take it - it is in the ess. oils isle). If Glycerol is NOT VG and
NOT PG that what is it?

One more unrelated question to the title. I have started vaping only few
days ago... Got a Gamucci =( Saw bad reviews too late... Waiting on 103 to
arrive. But my question is about the following:
After vaping I get headaches... Well it feels like I have a tight hat on.. and it aches in my temples. I do not know, maybe the carts are too strong for me?
I got Regular 16 mg carts. I used to smoke about 30 cigs a day, but they were the lightest ones (1mg tar).

What do you think? Is this normal? What should I do?

I will copy here the formula that comes in e-liquid bottle of Totally Wicked. We must thanks to this marks that they include the formula in the bottle, something that other sellers dont do and should be forbidden to sell any liquid of cartridge without written formula
I bought this bottle of 35 mg nicotine to mix with generic e-liqud

Pill Box 38 (cigar)
INGREDIENTS
Tobacco esencial oil <5%
Tobacco lead oil <5%
Nicotine from tobacco leaf <3%
Propilene glicol >65%
Glycerol <20%
Pure water <10%
there are other products but all in proportion less than 1%

PG = Propylene Glycol
VG = Vegetable Glycerin(e) = Glycerin(e) = Glycerol

Welcome to the forum Sergey. You might be getting too much nic, or it might be a reaction to PG, or it might be neither. I'm really not sure; I only can say that around analogue smokes i occasionally will get a headache even from secondhand smoke, but with vaping it's been nothing but smooth sailing. Wish I could be more helpful!

Thank you so much for the info Siobhan. I will refrain from using it then, and whilst my masculinity will triumph, my tastebuds will weep.

Has anyone tried mixing with honey or stevia for sweetness?

I have not, but have thought about it. Honey may be too much for an atomizer, so I will shy from that, but the stevia, at least near me is conveniently flavored vanilla creme chocolate or unflavored...worth a shot.

Oh, a ZeroNic ratio
50%PG
30%VG
10-20% flavoring(10% Distilled water if strong flavor)

So, I've given up on the pg b/c of problems..but I am using straight glycerin to vape..I just bought Frontier cherry and Frontier Maple..They are both made with glycerin, water and natural flavors..They taste great out of the bottle (very dark) but they aren't sweet when I vape them.. How do you get it to taste sweet? Just keep adding more flavoring?

yeah I saw those too..but than I was thinking about how my stevia jar I use for tea , cakes up on the outside. Probably wouldn't be to great on an atomizer..

Very Cheesecake-y vape :)

I use the Bickford cheesecake flavoring which is already in a PG base so I don't need to thicken/thin the mix and it works well :)

2 parts 36mg PG flavorless
2 parts no nic PG
1 part Bickford Cheesecake flavoring

If my math is right (questionable), I believe this comes out to about 14mg vape.

Anyone got a recipe using just Lorann's Strawberry?

I mixed up a couple batches of it and it was so bad I was going to chomp in the kitty box (yes, *that* BAD) to get the taste out of my mouth (but a soft drink swigged and gargled eventually worked, thank god!). Hate to make more at this rate. I am starting to wonder if I have a bad bottle, it really was disgusting :-(. Strawberry is one of my absolute fave flavors, so you can imagine I am just a bit more than a little disappointed :-(.

My experiments with the Orange Cream and Cheesecake so far were really good, thus I am perplexed...

Thanks!

Anyone got a recipe using just Lorann's Strawberry?

Just had my first cooking episode. I didn't get strawberry, but did get the kiwi strawberry. Doing straight VG with 10% vodka as the base (no nic juice yet while I'm playing). After trying to do a batch of kiwi strawberry (couldn't get the flavor up), added some cheesecake. Still had mild flavor. Decided to experiment with the toffee since it's strong. Mixed up a small batch of it, and dripped it on the atty that I'd been using for the kiwi-strawberry-cheesecake. It was great. So I added toffee to the other mixture. Didn't keep accurate measurements but it was approximately 3 parts ks, 1 part ccake, 1 part toffee. You may want to try it with the strawberry.

BTW, caramel apple is tasty too (about 2 parts apple, 1 part caramel)

When mixing two Nic strengths what do u end up with.

Etc Mixing 20 Nic with a 10 nic level.

Do you get a 15 Nic level ? ?

(X ml * A mg) + (Y ml * B mg) / (X+Y) = combined mg

Sound complex but not really and I'm terrible at math... assuming you were making 30ml:

15 ml times 20 mg = 300
15 ml times 10 mg = 150
15ml plus 15 ml = 30 ml
300+150 = 400
400/30 ml = 15 mg combined

So yes, you are correct if you mix equal amounts. An example with unequal amounts:

5 ml of 20 mg = 100
25 ml of 10 mg = 250
5 ml plus 25 ml = 30 ml
100+250= 350
350/30 ml = 11.7 mg combined
