Here is a strange discovery that might lead to ideas, or at least getting rid of flavors you may not like...

I was smoking some home-made apple and then switched to some JC Chocolate Almond Decadance. The cross-over flavor was really nice, so I made a new mix. I wanted something with a little more "kick" anyway since I have been vaping low/med for a while, so I tried this:

2ml 36MG PG
2ml JC Chocolate Almond VG 11mg
1ml LorAnn Apple Flavor
.75ml Pure VG
.5ml 100 Proof Smirnoff Vodka

It's awesome, but when I passed my e-cig to my wife and said "Guess the flavor" she said "Honey-Dew Mellon" (I was expecting "chocolate-apple").

I tasted it again, and damned if it wasn't. The combination of apple and chocolate actually makes a pretty good honey-dew mellon flavor (plus a little kick from the vodka and higher nic than I usually mix).

So... Pay attention when you are transitioning in-betwen flavors. You never know what you might discover! :thumb:

i hope no one gets irritated that i'm posting this here... i can't start a new thread yet and don't know where else to put it... so shoot me if you must... anyway my question...

I just ordered my e cig and am waiting... impatiently for it to arrive... i ordered pg and flavoring from bickfords and a couple of sample 0 nic liquids from nuvape... i am planning on making my own liq because of price mainly especially since i am going 0 nic... i really didn't want to use just pg and flavor but can't seem to find a 0 nic liquid recipe that i like... i have been really interested in using maybe a herbal tea made into a decotion... something like camomile with some menthol crystals and pg to make a juice... has anyone used teas... i saw a post about tea but nothing in detail... if not do you think it's possible or at least any ideas on what i can cut the pg wit... someone help me please... thanks :)

Use about 20% Pure Vegetable Glycerine. Some people use Wilton's that you can find in the baking aisle at Michael's. I bought mine at a health food store. VG increases the vapor and gives some smoothness to the hit. Some people add up to 50% VG. VG tends to negate flavoring to some extent, at least for me. All I can taste is the sweetness of it...to me it actually tastes soapy so I won't go above 20%. Also the menthol crystals if you haven't used them are STRONG so try just a smidge and then adjust.

Hope this helps.

It does help thanks lorraineg... since i've read that the glycerine is thick and that some people cut it with water or liquor i think i'm going to try cutting it with the herbal tea... when i make the tea i can put it in a glass dropper bottle and add a smidge of the menthol to the bottle... where the tea should pick up the flavor of the menthol even if it doesn't desolve right... then add say 80% pg 20%vg and 20% tea? do you think it would work... i'm a menthol analog smoker so i think the menthol is really important to me... i am going to give it a shot and see... unless anyone thinks it's a bad idea... i am so excited... i can't wait for it to get here...

As someone mentioned interesting transition flavors, I'll give my example. I was vaping a new Carolina Nebula cart for about an hour or so when I decided it was time to top it off. I chose to top it with Marshmallow. As Nebula owners know, when you first top off with a new flavor, the new flavor DOMINATES the old one, but after a few dozen drags, you start to taste the former flavor too. During the first fifteen minutes of vaping I was in marshmallow heaven, but then the darnedest thing happened. The returning Carolina made it taste as if the marshmallow was slowly being roasted! Amazing flavor. This lasted for another hundred or so drags, then came another transition, one I'd never have expected. The cart started to taste an awful lot like Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal. I passed it to my wife and asked what flavor it was, and she said the same thing. Now, I like some cereals out there but I sure don't want to vape them! Now no matter what I add to the cart it tastes like some sort of cereal. Chocolate made for a nice Cocoa Puff flavor, Strawberry turned it to Frankenberry and so on and so on. I ended up tossing the cart as the sugary cereal taste was getting to my stomach. If you want a breakfasty cartridge, just mix marshmallow and tobacco!

Funny you should mention this. I just picked up Marshmallow the other day. I'm currently using 555 as a "base". My daughter asked me how I like the marshmallow and I said "ehhh...it doesn't taste sweet like marshmallow, it tastes more like a toasted marshmallow." So maybe it was the tobacco base?

It might be cool if a manufacturer would offer flavorless eliquid. You would have a pure base with the nicotene in it and add adjuncts to taste.

Many sites have flavourless, often referred to as virgin. It almost always comes in 36 mg nicotine level. You simply cut it down to the level you like for your use with either PG or VG. Most sell PG, but some like LiquidExpress sells it in both PG and VG. The base is jsut as expensive flavored, but the cutting fluid is cheep and in the case of VG can easily be found other places for much less yet.

Yep, I just got some from JuicyLiquid this week. :) Really quick shipping too.

I am totally hooked on Janty's Cappuccino...good strong taste, but the supply situation from Janty is iffy at best. Have tried Capp from several other vendors with very disappointing results - most taste very weak compared to Janty's.

Soooo, has anyone tried to duplicate the Janty Capp? Has anyone found a true taste equivalent to Janty from another vendor?

I have tried adding some Bickford's Kahlua to AlternaSmokes.com's Capp (which is pretty weak) - bumped up the flavor, and it's not bad at all...but still not Capp.

Sorry, I missed this post altogether. Have you tried the tea? I'm afraid that much water won't play nice with your atomizer. If you want menthol you should get some menthol drops from JuicyLiquid. 2 drops in 4-5 ml of juice and you get a really nice menthol flavoring. You don't want to use more than a few drops of any water....

I sure hope someone comes up with something. I was just wondering today if there was some way to make a cappucino flavor with Lorann's...I could go for a good cappucino, preferably mocha and sweet.....:)

When you guys say you add alcohol to your liquid, what kind of alcohol are you using? Is rubbing alcohol good enough or does it need to be stronger?

I don't think I'd use rubbing alcohol, don't think I'd want to vape that. A lot of people use vodka. I don't use alcohol but I've seen that posted in recipes.

HTH....

Most refer to Ethyl Alcohol USP grade as "Alcohol"... Common name is "Everclear".

Do NOT use Rubbing Alcohol, Isopropyl Alcohol, Isopropanol, IPA, etc... In any Mix you intend to vape.

I am trying to find a recipe using VG, LorAnn flavors, but no nicotine juice. What do I replace the nic juice with? Just more VG? Alcohol? Water (distilled I assume)?

Also, when you guys make these mixes, how do you clean your syringes and any other tools that are not disposable? Just more distilled water?

1.5 to 2 ml LorAnn Flavoring
4 ml Pure USP VG
.5ml Distilled Water

Optionally add .1ml of high proof non-flavored vodka for a good throat hit. I use Smirnoff Triple Distilled 100 Proof.

A few LorAnn flavors already give a nice throat hit, especially the Strawberry-Kiwi - so try it without first then add a few drops to kick it up.
