I kinda did at first for a little while... especially cuz my first was a dark red / maroon colored pen style with the black flat / whistle tips. I felt kinda akward, but the more I used it - it just became second nature like smoking was before. Plus it is just kinda cool now really with all the different ones to try out and different colors and flavors and such. Everything has come such a long way since I started!!!

At first I was a little self-conscious, but not any more.

We just got back from a weekend in Asheville, NC, where pretty much anything goes. I vaped while we walked around (red 801 w/blue LED and purple 510 w/purple LED--so if I forgot and walked inside a place that didn't allow smoking, it wouldn't look as if I was), and 90% of the people didn't even notice *me* much less what I was doing. Of the 10% that looked at me, 90% of those didn't notice or care what I was doing. The 1% that noticed and wondered what it was asked, and I happily told them.

Most of the people that notice and ask, want one--either for themselves or for someone they know.

Yeah I know what you mean. I don't think i would be comfortable vaping at the supermarket for awhile yet! Don't do the bar scene anymore, but if I ever do go to one again, I would ask first before I just vaped away. Have to respect other people and vaping can be looked on as 'smoking' to a lot of people.

Heck, no! I wasn't bashful about smoking in the places I could smoke. I surely don't feel bashful in those places with my e-cig. I also puff like crazy in traffic jams, and don't fear puffing in places like Lowes and Wal-Mart. But you do need to be ready to explain what you have and it's good to have some cards to hand out because it's the smokers that will gravitate toward you with their questions.

Does anyone feel embarrassed of smoking a e-cig?
sometimes I feel like its weird you know? I love doing it at home.. but i dont really take it outside.. =P

No considerations whatsoever but the Janty Stick is the best 'stealth vape' - cupped in the palm, not sticking out, led not obvious, etc.

I haven't received mine yet, but I am already proud of the decision I've made to switch to vaping. I imagine when I get it, I'll be more then happy to explain to anyone I use it in front of exactly what is, what it does, and were to get information on it. This is something that could save you, help you, and that a smoker can full heartily enjoy. It can even convert the thoughts of non-smokers so they can give advice on it to their loved ones who smoke.

It can be a pain to vape in public. At my job, its been a conversation stopper... To the point where someone will stop in the middle of a sentence to ask "What is that?"
I have 5 different managers over me at work, and generally have a good relationship with all of them... And all of them except one gave me permission to vape inside, so long as it wasn't in front of our customers, or THEIR boss (who only drops by occasionally anyway). Only one of my managers freaks out about it (and still can't give me a reasonable explanation why)... So I just don't do it in front of him.
But I've done it at walmart, in coffee shops, quik trip... Just about everywhere, and never gotten a single comment. So you just never know who's going to react to what.

It's so easy to take a vape ..... hold it and have little if any vapor on the exhale.
Doesn't draw attention unless you want it to.

With the regulations being discussed - I try to literally 'show' people how little effect it can have when a I'm conscious of the airspace of those around me.
At the bank, retail, restaurants .... and even my cardiac/respiratory specialist was thrilled when I demonstrated and explained -
NO SMOKE!

Interesting that many smokers have little understanding of the difference between inhaling smoke and vapor. Another response that is less than my favorite is COPD smokers .... with emphysema and all - suggesting it's 'just another crutch'.

Nicotine is a viable substance for creating dopamine (works against depression, anxiety, alzheimer's symptoms and even being studied for use in controlling schizophrenia)
more info on that - links to whatcha smokin - what's in that ciggie? Research on medical use of nicotine.... and all printable to give friends is my gift to all 'smokers' -
at the link in my signature.

30 years of smoking...

Personally I love using my 510 in public and love when smokers ask about it since its a good way to help others. I tell anyone who I know that smokes all about them and this site to help inform them and try to get them onto these. It has changed my life already and I have only been vaping for 8 days. I can already taste and smell things I had forgotten about long ago and don't smell like an ashtray anymore. I didn't realize just how bad cigarette smoke was to those who didn't smoke. My home cloths car all smell better now. I recently went to a festival and had lots of people stop me and ask me about it and all said the wanted to get one. Even had a few people just walk up to me and ask is that working for you I have been thinking about getting one.

I was, until I found the right words to be able to explain all of it coherently. Even my husband was impressed with the transition. I think he was also a little embarrassed about the new "toy", but he is also thinking I should just stop now. But I have this thing about my personal well-being is not on anyone's timetable but mine, so back off.
I'm 62 years old, I'm entitled to endulge myself a little. I think I've fullfilled all my expected duties and then some to everyone else for years and years. Right now I have to be about my own business, like it or not.
I was stoked!! Because I had just stepped away from a 44 year long habit that was killing me, and I feel alive for the first time in years. I think when people saw how I felt, more than what I was doing, they were indeed interested. Then I discovered that there was a highly-respected person in the background of our social circles that was also "vaping", he is a Vietnam Vet and a Biker, and don't mess with him. (And a super nice, quiet guy, as well.) So I was safe, unbeknownst to me. Who was going to be the first one to let loose with a smart remark..NOT..so people really were interested in the mechanics of the e-cig, had never seen one like mine (Janty Stick). I think the technology is very credible, even now in it's relative infancy. And the "biker" says I'm ok, too. That should count for something. But yes, I hear remarks too, "you still sucking on that thing?" Well, obviously...duh

I vape openly, and I'm not embarassed. In areas where smoking is not allowed, I stealth vape just to avoid any issues, but anywhere else, I puff big ol' clouds.

I've had people stopped beside me at red lights look at me funny, but I just smile, puff away, and fog up the interior of my car until the light changes.

I was a little worried about vaping at work. not inside, I can hide in my cubicle and blow it under my desk with no one being bothered, but I need the 'smoke break' to get up, get some fresh air and stretch my legs, ya know? So I still take a walk outside to the smoking area here, and was worried that I was going to get inundated with questions about it from the other smokers (a couple of which are also the security guys). So far though I've gotten a couple curious looks, but no one has said/asked anything

you'll realize, that people very seldom notice you..............or say anything.
I think it's just some of the crazy stories you read on here about other people's experiences that get us thinking there's going to be alot more notice taken then there really is most times
