Oh and as a word of warning pipes go up around noon on Friday, but Gandalf usually sell out in the first 5mins. No joke. So if that is what you have your heart set on, I'd register an account right now and be ready to F5 battle for it. When ordering a pipe I know I'm gonna have to fight for I also keep my CC number copied and ready to paste in the block. Just a few hints from someone whose had their heart broken over the pipe that got away.

5 min? Damn!!! Great hints though. Thanks for looking out. I despise and am against social media in all its bieberific forms so I will have to stay dialed in here, be prepared, and hope for the best. I have learned that pipes, like guitars, will find their soul mate.

12:00 Friday... What time zone are we talking about here?

Just thought I'd chime in here.
Our time zone is EST. Pipes typically hit the site Friday's around 4 or 5 pm. Although sometimes earlier if we are ahead of things.

Unfortunately there will be no pipes this Friday. We are still down 1 lathe. Life is coming at us pretty hard and fast at the moment and we are doing our best to keep up. While waiting for Brian's lathe we are still prototyping and debugging the USBaux. Also we have begun work on the new run of mjolnirs. I am hoping that Brian's lathe will be here in the next day or so. Until it gets here things are a bit stifled in the shop.
I have not been able to do a lot of turning over the last week mostly due to meetings and annoying business stuff. I'd much rather be standing behind the lathe. But in order to grow the company I have to tend to business.
Next Friday we should be back on schedule with regular Friday releases.

Oh and about the post that mentioned batteries....
AW batteries will work in our pipes, they are good batteries. However, we sell Efest batteries (and have for the last 2 years BTW).
To my knowledge Efest and AW come from the same factory. I may be wrong on that, but I'm fairly certain. Efest and AW quality are nearly equal. I will warn any newb not to buy AW batteries from just any vendor though. There are many knockoff AW batteries that do not have high quality standards. This is part of the reason We do not carry AW. If you insist on AW batteries, I believe Empiremods.com is an official reseller. There are probably more official resellers that others may mention. Just a friendly buyer beware, if you find a "deal" on AW batteries they are most likely not genuine AW's.

Yeah, tough to buy a church warden in advance when even those are almost sold out currently. I like one of the remaining three, but gotta see what kind of wood my Gandalf ends up being before matching one up so will have to resist my urges for the night.

Ditto on Señor Reactor. I was eyeing a brass cone, but would need brass end caps to really make that look work.

So, while I'm thinking about it, does anyone make a tank with brass end caps? Or am I going to have to send off some stainless ones for plating?

Heck, there's a lathe in the magic pipe shop, no?

I have a tank with brass caps, it's the only one I have ever seen.
There was a big stink about brass being bad for you when used in atties and tanks.
I have done a bit of research on the subject and personally find the fear of brass to be hogwash.
Brass is an alloy of copper and tin. A long time ago lead was added to the alloy but no longer. I believe this may be the reason for the fear of brass. Not that any of us here really hold much weight in what the FDA says..., but according to the FDA Brass is non toxic and suitable for use with consumables. For instance brass pipes and fittings for drinking water and hot water applications. Some people can have an allergic reaction to brass. This is most commonly found in brass instrument musicians. Who have brass mouth pieces pressed against their faces for hours every day.

All that said, we have wood lathes, not metal lathes... And sorry no I can't part with my brass tank :)

Heh. No worries, Matt. You've given more than enough to this community.

One can get a pretty nice gold color with titanium nitride coatings, and those are extremely tough. I've got a Kershaw blade with a rainbow finish in that stuff and it served well as my EDC for years. But on a pipe, I'd actually like some patina on it. I'll keep looking.

Are these retail shop meetings? Because if you open up a storefront a half hour from my place you'll never get rid of me... :D

Partly yes, the retail search has been taking up far to much of my lathe time lately, but it's something we HAVE to do at this point.

If you decide to place any focus on working with brick and mortar vendors, my local store of choice in Orange County, So Cal is the place down here. I tried a great many shops before finding them. Super chill, extremely knowledgeable, unbelievably patient, and they are the only store around who carries the very top components out there from all over the country inducing tips, tanks, and some of the most sought after and hard to find mods out there. I have no stake at all in it, they don't even know me by name, but they are legit and seem like your kind of people.

Hey Juicy, when you get your pipe if there aren't any stems up just shoot me a PM and I'll lend you one of mine. I've got a fairly large collection and only two pipes in regular rotation.

I would do the same if mine was ever returned to me.... too bad

Ever thought to yourself, "Those e-pipes are something else! I wish I could have a go at it.". Well, give it a shot! Just a quick run but we've got 3 pre-wired blocks for sale in the Artist Original section. Make your own freehand!!!!
Artist's Original - Shankless - Steam Pipes

Thats pretty darn cool. I got absolutely no shot at making something but I'm sure someone will. Neat idea!

Thanks ... great project idea!

I just happened to get see it come through on Facebook as soon as it was posted and 1 minute later Katie had an order for the mid-size.

Going to carve it so that the button sits on the side and the stem straight up, similar to a Mjolnir can do, with a heavy base tapering to a smaller area near the threads. That way it sits nice and stable on my desk.

(I'll still be racing for one of the Damascus Mjolnir, too, but this makes sure I get a dreamed-out desk pipe either way)

My artist wife and I are now arguing on who gets to do the actual carving. Gotta go finish out my aspen staff to prove I can get it done with the right tools on my own ;)
