Looks like a few people liked the CIY blocks. I'll have to make some more.
Good luck to those carving their own! It is tons of fun.

Besides normal pipe carving, any quick pro-tips? Specifically wondering if you usually freehand carve with the threads installed?

I know these blocks will ship fully assembled so you can test ... Just hoping to hear that the thread mounts are sturdy enough to have some carving done near them (or conversely a warning to take it easy around them).

I saw the guides drawn on the side as a warning where not to go past on the bowl ... Very helpful, thanks :)

(Edit/addition, thinking of buying a 510 to 510 adapter cheap somewhere as a carving guide ... Ie to pretext the threads from errant tools)

I carve and then wire, so I would go easy around the connector. You can always remove more material, but you can't put material back.
I learned the finer points of pipe carving through YouTube believe it or not. There is a wealth of tips and tricks there. I learned a lot about hand shaping from watching videos by a guy named Flieger. I'm not sure if his videos are still around but there are numerous videos available on pipe carving.

Thanks, yeah I was finding lots of briar pipe specific hits on YouTube. Someday when I'm rich I'm hand delivering you some meerschaum to wire up for a hefty fee :) until then this will do nicely.

So on a different topic, how do folks feel about Genesis style rebuildables these days for fatter pipes? I am looking at something like the LavaGen as I want a show-off pipe ... ie shows the internals as well as the vapor chamber. I YouTubed enough videos that I'm sure I can rebuild the wick (or maybe go for the new ceramic wicks coming out soon). This pipe will be less pipe-like in looks than most so I don't mind the width.

Mostly curious about performance of the genesis on the 16350 hardware in epipemods. Though if I get a VV mod for it I can probably fine tune it enough between the VV and the wick to have no worries.

I know a lot of people are preferring some of the newer style RBAs, but I haven't seen any others that I can hook up to show off the insides that way, only the juice. If I'm missing an alternative let me know.

Yes, I'm that kind of guy that in the 90s had a clear computer case and worried about how my cables looked. I want to be able to point to all the parts and explain how they correspond to ecig parts without disassembling :)

Thanks for the quick response :) Doing some further LavaGen investigation. I don't have an easy way to compare so ... After this I will leave you be awhile until I've got results to share. As in a long while, not a few hours ;) I know you 2 are already pulling hair out.

Biggest thing left for me to figure ...

Any chance of a preview of the dimensions on the VV mod you are considering? And any chance of it in brass? And ... Doh too many Qs but ... will it work on 2.5 pipes? and if you can't give more details on the VV right now, I'll quit asking about it:)

[EDIT: Matt, Shoog and ThetaReactor answered thes next 2 for me ... Unless you know of a 510 cone even wider than what you stock ... Don't spend any time on the questions below ... Leaving due to quotes ...]

Is the Lava tube/gen diameter significantly bigger than tanks like the Jazz carto? Hard to tell from pics but I'm guessing so based on your 16500 comment. I might go back on the prowl for a "show the guts" rebuildable or skip it for this pipe if it is more than a mm or two wider. From what I can see on Google the Jazz is 9.5mm but I am having a hard time finding specs on the Lava.

Know of any good transitional covers that go from 510 to a wider size (9mm-ish)? Purely for decoration, like the 510 gold cone you stock (which I bought just in case I don't find what I really want and for flexibility). Something that will flange out to transition from the 510 to a wide tank.

There are eGo tank cones like this on the site. They are the best way to make a tank blend to the shank.

You can get them in gunmetal as well at Madvapes, if they aren't sold out.

Cool, yeah, I just found the internal diameter by looking up genesis atty specs ... 22mm so 25mm external sounds about right. I actually think for this project I'm good with that.

EDIT: Actually, looks like the Reactor & LavaGen are 19mm, the genesis I looked up must have been a larger version. Even better.

Thanks all ... Off to go beg JB to see if he has any stainless LavaGens left. Sounds like he sold most at vape bash. Might go for a reactor if so and drop his LavaGen drop in into the reactor.

Can anyone speak to or refer me to reviews or forum threads regarding "Pipe Sauce?" Respectfully, the website doesn't give very detailed descriptions of the flavors and I am interested.

After sampling several wares out there I am primarily vaping juices from Highbrow. By far the highest quality, richest, most complex, multilayered, and satisfying juices I have had. However, I am definitely willing to try the Sauce and am obviously curious about the Shire offerings.

Will the sample bottles of pipe sauce be available again anytime soon...I hate spending 15 bucks per bottle for something I may hate...

Im pretty sure matt posted recently that they are working on more sample packs.... he can correct me if I'm wrong though.

They constantly have more samplers on the way, they just sell out quickly. There is usually a note here and on FB when they come in. The issue is the juices appeal to a larger crowd and are distinctive flavors so lots of interest.

If you prefer sweeter juices, Kentucky Bluegrass (blueberry) and Georgia Peach are winners and mix together well (I call the mix "kissing cousins"). I often add a bit of tobacco flavor as well to add a little mellow flavor. I just bought larger bottles of those 2 + Long Bottom Leaf after exhausting my sampler.

As I found out recently, their mixes are VG cut with a small amount of distilled water and work very well if you like a thicker puff as any pipe lover would.

Thanks for the heads up to the video. I don;t know, I am already SO tired of reviewers. APPRECIATE them and value them...most of the guys just bug me.

That was a good starting point, but again not terrific detail on flavors especially on Longbottom and Shire Malt. Anyone else want to share the impressions of those sauces?
