Ok, then I at least haven't been goofing my pipes, since I've always put positive down first for them.

So then if I were to put a Kick in an ePipeMod, stack it between the battery and the VapeSafe ... ? Or just don't even bother (I know, I can wait for the possible VV attachment, I'm just trying to get a better understanding of how the Kick and VapeSafe might interact).

The kick and VapeSafe are compatible in many mods. The VapeSafe is not polarity specific and can be placed on either side of the battery. The reason we specifically state negative VS placement on the VS website is because that is the "correct" and safest way to install it. Most mods are designed in a way that makes this set up the "least likely for a jump short" (typically caused by torn battery labels).

But to answer your question the kick is simply not compatible with our pipes. For 2 main reasons.
1. no magnetic strength to keep everything together.
2. No ground (-) connection. It should be noted that the kick is well known for having a lousy ground spring to begin with.

The Crown is a viable option (at least more viable than a kick). But the magnets on a crown may not be strong enough to hold the battery in, and you would need to hard wire the ground....

I warned you that your ambition may have been exceeding your grasp.... I don't know your background or skill level with this sort of task, but I can tell you this.... It can be done, but you will never want to try it again. That is just my 2 cents though. I prefer to keep things simple and give Murphy little room to interfere with my day.

Our pipes are wired positive post down. It says this in the instruction manual and in the description on the site.
We do this intentionally. If your battery is in positive post up and there is a tear in the insulation on the battery,
When you press the button you could have an instant hard short that bypasses the VapeSafe.

I'm sorry for giving you bum gouge Jahf, just going off of what was posted before. But def listen to Matt, he helped design many of these items, and is our resident systems matter expert. And good luck with your CIY pipe, and be sure to take lots of pictures throughout the whole process. I'd love to see your method.

You had it right shoog, for our mods the safest way to insert the battery is positive post down/ positive end with the vapesafe.
the pipes are an exception to the rule with the vapesafe for a couple reasons. Think of the pipes like a bottom switch tube mod. take the cigars for example, the vape safe is used for the positive terminal. positive terminals are almost always inline with connectors in mods.
-, +, connector. Jazz carto pipes, and sunpipes are actually wired backwards. The reason we did not simply switch around the wires at the connector to make the battery go in positive up has to do with the jump short issue and proper grounding. The ring in your pipe, like the sleeve of a tube mod, should always be negatively charged. The reason for this is because batteries are natively designed this way if you removed the label from a battery the outer shell all the way around the battery is negatively charged. In the event of a torn or completely missing label, if the battery is in "upside down" and positively charging the outer shell of the mod, when the button is depressed you would end up with an instant hard short.

i wrote this before my first cup of tea so if it is confusing as hell i apologize.

Thanks for the answers :)

I'm expecting my CIY project to be one I -don't- ever want to do again but, if I don't goof it, will be really fun and teach me more about doing other stuff.

I ordered something else for the CIY block (I'm not even going to go into it now ... if I never mention the CIY block again you know I destroyed it ... will be a few weeks before I know : ) for a VV mod. But knowing the right info on the Kick / VapeSafe helps alot for future stuff.

Question Matt:
Because of the shank on the Corn Cob pipes how do you set it up usually? I was thinking a 901 dripper would be perfect and not make it too long... what do you think the best set-up options for it would be?

that looks really nice with a gold drip shield.
I usually lean towards a narrow atty or RBA because of the shank size, but they don't look half bad with tanks.
A vision eternity looks pretty slick on them as well.

Hello. Just wondered if there are any celestial beans in this batch? Thanks for making awesome pipes. I have quite a nice collection going and plan to expand it this Friday.

indyceo39, Lets see some pics of what you have acquired. I always wonder where some of these go. Love to see them in loving hands somewhere.

Matt, are the Steam Pipe stands all made in house? Im curious about the 5 pipe stand and how it fits all five spots at once. The site only shows it with three. I imagine tips begin to overlap? I think Im looking for a straight one that is really long.

no, no acrylic this run. I made a huge purchase of acrylic a couple weeks ago and when it came in i realized it was not our usual stock. different acrylics behave differently. The stuff we use is very stable. it resists breaking, scratching and chipping very well. The stuff we got in would have broken with 1 hard drop. So needless to say we returned it. The material we prefer is usually in short supply, and has nowhere near as many colors... but i will be ordering more soon.

apparently this is an issue... I honestly had not tried them out until just now
this was a side project during VapeFest that did not get enough attention.
I will redesign them soon so they will better support the pipes all the way around.

Speaking of narrow RBAs ... Doc Dave is teasing people on his FB group with shots of a "Mini-micro" Doc Dave RBA that looks to be the size of an Ego in width. So a handmade SS RBA (I think he does all Genesis-style RBAs but he hasn't teased the internals yet) that would be no wider than the small Clearomizer I'm using now.

I don't know if I would want to be rebuilding a Genesis that small, but darn it would be pretty on any pipe. No list open yet for it. Folks wanting a look-see take a look on FB for "Docdave's house of ModZ". I think you can see the post without having joined the group but not sure.

Only 1ml tank capacity but that is .2ml more than I ever put in my Clearomizer due to leaks since it is usually on my Dublin.

Im trying to decide if Im going to get one. They look fantastic. Been following the thread on the pit about them. Saw his pic on Facebook. My Mini b should arrive maybe the end of next week and will go on my Way to Middle Earth pipe when it arrives. If I dont mind working on that (its small also but not as small) and I love it Im sure Ill snap a micro up.

Got this pipe here on a trade (thanks Keith!). Absolutely love it! I thought 18500 might be a little big to be comfortable but I was wrong. Sits in the hand nicely. Now I want another Gandalf, another Dragon and a Mjolnir!! My list is getting bigger

By the way, since I haven't heard it discussed much if at all, I just want to go on the record as saying that Matt's DWARVE is bad fuc#ing ....

View attachment 202858

Having read pretty much everything ever published by the Tolkien's multiple times over the last 20 years, I have always been an Istari guy and thus more interested in Elvish culture than the dwarves...but whatever. That Dwarve pipe is freaking hard core. It really captures the spirit intended. I can totally see a dwarf sitting at the gates to the Lonely Mountain puffing away heartily on that. It may be my favorite of Matt's many designs

Thanks for posting this. I'd love to get one of those!
