Have you tried having your set up with the wick pointed to the ground. It will promote the flow of juice down the wick. I'm not sure about the lavagen, but if it has a fill hole with a fill screw, leave it out.

Wick pointed to the ground?
There is no fill screw.

@stevo- no I got an early generation zen. But I don't think I've ever had issues with the wick grounding on the channel or the coil.
Brian on the other hand can't get a genie to not ground out on the wick!

We are both stumped. It just seems to be a big PITA

i will put a pin down the wick while it is in the device, and it helps with wrapping the coils tight to the wick then just nudge them till
there glowing even and they should light up quick, you should do wick and coils with an empty tank as well

Don't forget using a battery that's not fully charged. You want a low voltage to set up. It makes it a bit more forgiving. It's a learning curve, once you get it, you'll just GET it. I want you to get one set up Matt. It really can be worth the effort.

thanks for answering all my questions Mr Matt. My used pipe (bought from classies) arrived today, so was the replacement switches, 8" churchwarden stem and other stuff I ordered from your site. I forgot to order some pipe juice :(

Man this is a work of art and it functions really, really well. Definitely not my last one from you.

I'm seeing the coils light up very nice, quickly and evenly. Wick and coils are done on empty:)

yep and a big one is were the wire goes to the positive an negative screws, to have them and the wick very close to the posts
cos they can cause a hot spot straight away and it will taste like metal or dry wick

No sir, it's a defcon from S & S Mods. I had been dreaming of this rig ever since I saw your pipes. I wanted to get a corn cob because I'm a big Douglas MacArthur fan (born and raised in Bataan, Philippines) but this setup blew my mind. Never imagined it would be this gorgeous :)

Oh one more thing that is strange.
My coil is reading 1.95 ohm and tasting burnt. I've heard of some people running coils at >1.5 ohm on genies with no wicking issues.
This boggles my mind. I can't imagine rigging a coil that low with a mesh wick, talk about throat hit, just strap an I beam to a semi truck and hit me in the neck at 60mph.
I really wonder if it's just a matter of taste (preference).

thats one thing i never do, used something to measure the ohms of my wick n wire on my apv's
now i have the zap on the provari i can do it of that no matter what they always end up 1.9- 2 ohms but they move up and down as i vape it as well

i love my gen devices so much they taste so good and clean, i could never use a carto ever again i tried they taste like crap now i used to use just carto an a tank as well

I'm with you on carto's but no lie I think the Gen's are WAY worse in flavor.
I'll take a Phoenix, ody, or Penelope over any of them.

lol im the opposite mesh all the way, mesh lasts way longer as well i know some people who have not changed the mesh for over 6months
i do change my wire coil though every week or two helps with the flavor
