Oh yeh, I bought them off a very reputable supplier here in ireland. I'm very sure the batteries are kosher but the kangers are unbranded.

Unbranded say nothing IMHO. I have unbranded but physically they're 100% same like branded ones.
Hmm....I really want some of the unique colors FT offers on the evods (orange, lt blue, lt purple) because I want more evods but don't want to repeat colors and the few left I don't care for.....

It sounds like they do, but I don't know first hand. I'd like to know why LarryPer threw them in the trash if it wasn't a coil issue, which seems silly to ditch the whole thing anyway.
The bodies are 100% compatible at least in the 10 pack clones. I am using one right now with an original coil.

Got 7 of these in today. 6 of them read 2.3 ohms, one won't read at all, due to the base tightening down all the way on my SiD but no contact with the center pin 
TBO I kind of expected them to be lower quality, so I'm not really surprised. Threads to the base connecting to the body are crunchy, and the eGo threads are set deeper. The heads that came with them are indeed trash, wick and coil are very cheaply made, and I've replaced mine with 1.8 "real" evod heads.
Will I use them? Yes. Will I buy more or suggest anyone else to buy them? No.
I'd rather pay the extra $3 and get the real deal with no crunchy threads, not have to search for a replacement base, and not have to change out the stock head(therefore only really saving $1.5)

I had this problem with one of mine that came in the 10 pack - just had to grab a saftey-pin and nudge the coil center pin out a teeny tiny bit. Was fine after that. I don't regret buying the 10 pack at all so far.
The genuine Kanger evod heads work in the clone. Good performance.
With places like surevapes selling them for like 6.99 free shipping it's a no brainer.

I bought three FT evods. The stock heads were very tightly wrapped, and the threads feel a little rough.
One of the three worked for my girlfriend out of the bag, and while she thinks it tastes fine, I think the new plastic funk of it is still working out.
Evod #2 worked, but would give dry hits after a couple successive draws. Terrible plastic taste as well (not rubber, unfortunately I know the difference).
Evod #3 smelled of rubber on the second draw. Taking it apart, the rubber grommet was scorched.
I tried putting the tanks in rubbing alcohol and rinsing in distilled water. That helped on the plastic taste, but not the weak flavor, weak draws, and slow wicking heads. It was at this time I ran out of wire. But today came, and I saw vaping friends. I tried a real, broken-in Evod head on mine, and it was enough of an improvement that I decided to give them another chance. Friend left me with a length of 1.5mm silica and 32g kanthal.
1.5mm silica, doubled over, with 4.5 wraps of 32g kanthal and no flavor wick, and I'm very, very happy. Wicks great, no rubber burning, and the flavor is only slightly muted--which I understand being bottom-coil.
After reading a post about seeping through the plastic window: juice escapes if I plug the holes and blow into the tank, but not with normal use. I don't know if this is the case with a genuine Evod.
...Yes, the one I forcibly blew into still holds juice ;-)
So, bottom line: If you're looking for the color, or a cheap tank and base, grab the Fasttech for cheap and use real heads. If you're comfy rebuilding, go for it and enjoy the savings. But if you're gonna be stuck using the Fasttech heads, look elsewhere.

I was tinkering with the FT Evods over the weekend and I think you can improve your setup and here is how :
Instead of 1.5mm silica doubled over , pick one strand out and you will have 1 mm silica , then double it over into 2mm silica , wrap 5/6 times the Kanthal
to get a 2.1 ohm resistance and the strand you picked out put it as flavour wick on top.
Also there is a large silicon gasket/ring, under the wick on the FT clones which is not really needed IMHO, the real Kangers don't have it so get rid of it.
The ring might be the culprit for rubber taste. If you have 2mm inside the coil and two-three 0.5 mm strands as flavour wick that should be enough for sealing .
Another fix I suggest is enlarging the vent holes , I don't have the drill size I used but once you do that draw is less tight and that eliminates gurgling
by reducing the pressure inside the atty.
One more ting is never let the liquid level to go under the silicone cup , once the liquid is at wick level or lower it will start leaking.
I use high VG liquid so my recommendations might not be working if the liquid is very runny.

I like it without the flavor wick, though. I find paradoxically that it only robs flavor. I need to read up on old posts, but is that really the function they purported: that it improves the flavor? How is that supposed to work?
Whatever they purported, I agree they do nothing to improve flavor or vapor. I'm good with they are just used as gaskets to seal the corners at the top of wick hole. When wicking performance starts to lag, I toss them. Removing them at that stage greatly improves the flavor lol. The wicks and coils seem to last a long time, even with dark, high VG juices. I have several over a month old, still vaping strong.
My experience is different regarding the flavour wick, I get a more metallic taste when the top wick is not present.
I think that because it keeps the coil moistened all the time the temperature of the metal doesn't rise too high
and then you don't get the metal burn taste.
Maybe the flavour you vape hides this metallic taste, I vape mostly fruity flavors ... who really knows what happens there
The long ones seem to have silicon connector seal unlike the standard size Evod heads. I've had consistent problems with the rubber seal being very rubber smelly on both the clones and Kanger. The silicon should be odor free. I'll get some to try.
I got a 7-pack in the other day along with two more attached to the $20 starter kit with a couple 900mah batteries they sell...so far have only used two of them, but they're working fine for me right out of the box. I do notice the sloppy drilling for the vent holes, and the top edge of the metal near the mouthpiece isn't beveled like the ones I've bought stateside. I've got a bunch of legit Kanger heads at 2.5 and 1.8 resistance to swap out if I do encounter any problems there, but so far so good - no leaks either, though I'm being very careful about what juices I use after trashing a CE4 and a Kanger Evod in quick succession with cola and cinnamon juice as a noob...
I had a good experience with the one I got to try ... even the stock head worked well. I ended up rebuilding it a few times, right now I have a 1.1-1.2 ohm coil on it and it eats up tons of power without any issues. I can run it at 20w. I never had any problem with rubber taste until I rebuilt and scorched the insulator a bit. Ended up circumcising it and it works fine now.
My tip portion is perfectly clear and the machining looks good quality. I did also notice the extra silicone ring under the wick, and that can be taken out to good effect.
I ended up ordering like a dozen more. Hope the quality is the same!

I don't see why it would be much if any different, you can build the T3 coil just the same no?
My T3 gives a synthetic plastic overtone I could do without. I think it's kosher. I rebuilt it and all. It's the two part T3 not the newer 3 part.
