I had an issue with the ground so I shipped it to Evolv who soldered a ground to the aluminum

I had grounding issues with my Silo 1300's :(
I spent a lot of time removing the powder coat to try & make good contact with the 510 threads & board.
In the end I ran separate grounds to the SS 510 base inside. Had to use acid core solder to make the connection. ( not easy to solder to SS)
I ordered 2 bare aluminium Hana kits, to avoid that with these :)

I joined Prime when it dawned on me that I would actually save money after not paying for shipping on a lot of stuff and get two day delivery to boot. They actually deliver on Sunday if I order early on Friday morning, which is amazing. Returns, a very infrequent thing, are easy and there's a UPS store about ten minutes away, gives me a reason to take Leo for a ride.

I've been working on my trenching project every day. Usually do about forty feet per day. I'm hoping to finish tomorrow, weather permitting, then it's time to drill through the foundation and actually put in the conduit. As usual things have sort of "ballooned". I'm adding another piece of conduit for post lights at the end of the driveway, only another fifty feet or so of trench for that. I'm also adding a 1/2", low pressure, water line so I can add a drip watering system to a small flower bed in the middle of the lower front lawn, another forty feet or so of trench.

a reason to take Leo for a ride
ahem, does leo need a brother? from my fb feed:
Hello Friends;

I post today seeking your help re-homing my dog Mowgli. Following my accident in Hocking Hills this past September and the reconstructive surgery on my leg, I’m no longer able to care for this sweet and gentle giant.

Mowgli is a 6-7 years old English Mastiff. He is a neutered, male and up to date on all his shots. He currently weighs approximately 140 lbs. The vet advised us to keep his weight on the lower end of the scale to prevent the common arthritis and joint problems associated with very large breed dogs. He has had no issue to date. He is in excellent health and will come with all his supplies and Veterinary records.

Mo is extremely well behaved, he walks on a leash at my side without pulling and will stay close when allowed off leash. He is obedience trained, knows and follows commands such as “sit” , “lay down” , “heel” and “wait”.

As a mature dog, he does not chew on anything but his toys and bones. He does not get on the furniture or beds but sleeps on a bed of his own in the bedroom.
He does bark when a stranger comes to the door and , as you might imagine, his bark is a very loud baritone. Nice security feature.

He is not a very active dog and spends a good deal of time napping. He would not do well going with you on your morning jog, but does enjoy running short distances in the park or in a fenced yard. He does enjoy and needs to be walked regularly if he does not have access to a yard or other outdoor exercise area.

Mowgli is an indoor pet and will not be re-homed to anything other than a full-time indoor home. He actually has a very strong preference for being indoors with his people and would do best in a home where he has lots of interaction with his humans. He is very loyal and loving and gentle. Loves to be pet and hugged. He’s a sweet and gentle soul.

He has not lived with or been extensively exposed to small children and would do best in a home of all adults or a home with teens. He is not aggressive at all but due to his size and unfamiliarity with children I am looking for a home without small children.

Mowgli gets along with other dogs. He has been staying with my friend Maura and her dog Wren ( male, medium sized mixed breed) – a “wild man” LOL! since my accident and they get along very well. Playing , eating and sleeping together.
He also has never shown any real interest in my cat or the bunnies. He doesn’t “chase” but I would expect that his new family would want to properly introduce Mo to any current furry residents.

He is a wonderful , gentle and amazing dog and my heart breaks to part with him. Given the nature of my injury and the expected year+ rehabilitation necessary, I believe it will be best for him to find a permanent home with a new family.

Please feel free to contact me via private message if you or someone you know will provide my beautiful boy with a wonderful loving home!

Thanks, Mary Beth

Where is Mo, Tibs? He sounds like a great dog for a lover of large/giant breeds. I'm not sure how Leo would react to another dog his own size, he's about 140 now, too. The other problem would be where? We have a large, fenced, yard but the house is on the small side. Leo already causes traffic jams as it is! Our experience with Bo was the same as the way Mo behaved. He was a gentle giant until a stranger showed up, then look out! Leo is developing the same traits and, hopefully in another year or two, will get there.

Wow, this breaks my heart. I know what it's like to have such an injury to a leg, I went through that for two years before I actually lost my leg then another year after, a long story I won't bore you with. The frustration of being severely limited in what you can do, the financial burden added on top of everything weighs heavy on you. Loosing control over your life is a grieving process and it's very easy to fall into a deep depression, the last thing Mary needs is to loose her life soul. I applaud her for putting him first and I can see it's breaking her heart, I pray someone will offer to care for him while she recovers and then returns him to her, maybe if they were close enough they could bring him by for visits while she recovers. I wish I could do it for her. Do you know what area she lives in TIbs?

Well, Columbus is only about a 10 hour ride, used to make that ride quite a bit back in the 80's. Mo would double the food costs though, jeesh! It is a shame that she can't find someone nearby on a more permanent basis until she recovers enough to handle him. We both still miss Bo, even with Leo keeping us company and busy. It's funny how they each have their unique personalities and how attached we can get to them.

Yeah, they get to be like kids and it's really tough when you loose them. I keep saying never again but we always end up finding a pet that needs a home. I have to stay away from the animal shelter's, I can't go in one and not bring a cat or dog home, just can't do it. I'll never forget going in one, passed by a cage and a tiny paw reached out and snagged the back of my coat, turned to see this little kitten crying and reaching through the bars, he came home with me, I couldn't leave him there. That was just before Christmas one year, I went there to make a Christmas donation and drop off some blankets & towels which they are always in need of, my wife named him Noel.

There's no "that's just stupid" button for that one, Willy. Sounds like the old bait and switch to me. Maybe look at another one or bite the bullet and switch to PoE-IP cameras. I've had Blue Iris running as my NVR/DVR for about four years and I'm still finding stuff in it I never knew was there.

Well you should know by now, I try to take the cheap route.... I really hate to spend money on this security system, it still makes me mad I have to have it at all. If the people who have the right to use part of my driveway would just drive slow I wouldn't need it, it's 40 yards and they can't take a few seconds to slow down. I give them hell and it will be good for a while then it's back to flying in and out and I have to yell again, it's getting old. If my wife would let me I'd just put in speed bumps but she doesn't want to drive over them in her own driveway, I can understand but it would solve the problem.

That was it. Soldering to SS, not aluminum. IIRC, flux was only sold by the gallon and was expensive so it was easier/cheaper to just send it to Evolv when they offered.

I haven't had any grounding issues in any other mod. 7 Silos and 2 ERM+.

I've noticed this for a while, my builds all register 0.02Ω higher in power mode than in TC mode on quite a few of my DNA's. Vaping in power mode for example is perfect, but switching over to TC give's me a lack luster vape that hits protection very quickly. If I bump up the detected resistance up by 0.02Ω, then TC provides the same vape quality that power mode does and still gives me the benefits of dry hit protection etc.

Wicking is perfect so the coil is not starved for juice, it happens across all wire types (SS, NiFe, T1), using a room temp coils etc. I rarely get asked the New/Old coil question if that has anything to do with it. The resistance change is the default 25% in eScribe and all my wire profiles are stock Steam Engine except for a second SS316L profile which is the UD V4 from the evolv forums.

Any ideas?

What is your Mod Resistance set in Escribe? Have you tried playing with it there?
