There is nothing spectacular about the seed puff and repeat feature, the Ijoy Asolo mod had that a couple of years ago. It TC'd kanthal as well. You did have some power control ie +/- 15% from initial seed puff wattage. It took some fiddling to get it to work right but it did work for the most part. Hopefully Evolve has perfected that feature.

Whats really sad, is only 10% of DNA users use TC all the time.
We need some advancements on Drop In TC coils, If you do a search, not much out there :(
I'm assuming that a good number of vapers use Prebuilt coils? If there were good reliable TC coils for them, maybe we could bring that 10% up a bit?

OK, "REPLAY" explained to the best of my knowledge.
  • Works in either wattage or TC mode
  • Requires some sort of TC wire, but it doesnt matter what kind, ie doesnt work with Kanthal.
  • It basically works off of duplicating LIVE OHMS, and will adjust wattage to mimick LIVE OHMS of seed puff
  • It doesnt directly limit Temperature except in that it will keep temp close to seed puff temp
  • Targeted at wattage users and indeed is useful.
    • Wattage users wont get dry hits
    • Chain vaping, ambient temp, and other variables that would normally raise the temperature are now controlled. You can chain hit all you want and it wont increase the temp.
    • The intent was driven at reproducing FLAVOR profiles. If you get a hit that the flavor was spot on, then use that hit as your seed puff.
  • It is indeed useful in TC as well.
    • It levels and compensates for wonky coils that change resistance, especially heavy mass Claptons and such.
What it wont do is guarantee a wattage user a specific temp, the temp will be whatever the seed puff was. It does up the safety level for wattage users though by eliminating increased temp with chain hits, and dry hits.

Notice the LIVE OHMS, seed puff is circled in red, then I turned REPLAY on and did a variety of different hits.

Sitting down, facing forward.
I guess what I am trying to get at is that, if done properly in a refined manner, the "replay" feature will mimic TC by maintaining resistance of the wire at the determined point by varying current and voltage as needed. In effect it is a sort of temperature controlled mode but without the wire type being specified it isn't really TC either, I guess. The chip could record the increase in resistance as power is applied, store that information, then calculate a relative TCR. Again, without the wire type being specified it's just a relative number. In a "perfect world" situation the readings could be compared to a set of know wire type to determine the most likely wire type. If the wire is specified, those readings could be compared and adjustments made to the TCR as needed. Whether or not all that processing power is on the chip, of even necessary, is a whole other question. But doing whatever they are doing does provide a level of control that, if it works as well as EVolv TC does, will be fairly accurate and repeatable just not real TC unless you're already in TC mode.

Interesting, the ijoy Asolo called the seed puff/replay mode the "FLAVOR MODE". I wonder if there's been some IP trading going on between iJoy and Evolv.

I'm glad they worked for you. I forgot to tell you, the shorter screws are what the Aromamizer two post deck take (and most other atty's), those are M2.5 x .45 x 3 long.
M2.5 x .45 Socket Set Screw Cup Point Metric A2 Stainless Steel
The longer screws are just some I had kicking around, which ones worked for you?
^this, the only way for some people imo is to force them to use it, just look at that thread that Mike started, it's astonishing how allergic to change & set in their ways some people are, like "can you do a complicated experiment to measure temps on my exact setup so I can feel better & keep doing what I'm doing" instead of maybe... idk switching to TC, just a thought... My own gf I had to drag into it but once she realized she could do her normal, vape it down to a single drop of juice, without burning cotton she was hooked.

I threw the long ones in (they're in the atty rn) & they are the perfect size, but it looks like both will fit, if I was using a bigger clapton the shorter ones would probably be better. I was using even a 316L coil and the first thing I noticed was the temperature felt much more accurate.

QUESTION: what happens if you record a puff, then change atomisers (wire type)?
Do you get the "new coil" question?

If you say "no" could you potentially vaporize your new titanium coil?
Yes......

Good analogy. With an auto trans you lose more power to the rear wheels; with RTAs you lose more flavor. :D
Truth be told, there are "automatic" transmissions these days that out-perform traditional manuals. But for me at least, they're nowhere near as satisfying to drive.

Wonder how satisfying your stick would be stuck for hours in bumper to bumper traffic?
Ease that clutch out, now push it back in! over & over again :(
