Any banker's here that know this stuff? They use to be able to enter the card number's if it wouldn't swipe from a bad strip, I don't know if they can still do that, if they can I assume that's how they did it. I don't know, the damn crooks are smarter then me that's for sure.

yeah, but that was the cashier who did that ;) - and in your case, willy, that means there's a bad apple at that station! :D

That's the way I took it, if there is I doubt I'm the only one they've done it to. I'm sure the fraud dept will connect any dot's and hand it off to the State Police if there is a viable trail. I'm sure they have time stamps, match that up with in store security camera footage (I've seen the camera's in the store) and you'll really narrow it down. If management is involved and get's wind they are on to them the footage will probably get deleted.

I'm not a banker but I was an IT mgr at a ATM company and dealt with the infrastructure including connections from atm's to the processors. VISA/MC has (had?) very strict policies and yearly audits for anyone that wants to process transactions with them. Your info is always encrypted once it enters the system (card swipe or manual entry) so if there's a breach, it's most likely at the entry point.

Oh... and never use a private ATM, only ATMs at bank locations.

Duplicating a card is as easy as either swiping your card or having the info from a swipe and swiping a blank card in a writer. The info is stored in (last I knew) one of 3 standard formats on 3 possible tracks usually having your name, card number, and a serial number specific to that card. It has been a long time since I hacked cards but I bet your zip is in there now. I still have some homebrew equipment that I might get out and see what is in my cards now days.

Why Alexander... I didn't know that side of you.
White hat......well maybe slightly off white every once and awhile.

I was always in the game just to see if I could do it, never to harm anyone.

Found by equipment but it's serial and I don't know that I have a computer with a serial port that is set up.

Sitting down, facing forward.
In your particular case, Willie, I'd strongly suspect the gas station/store employees. They can access the data if they do some minor hacks and, I'd guess in some cases with bad security, not even actually have to do any real hacking at all. Card duplicators can be made portable and work pretty quickly so it could actually be duplicated, but that's a lot of gear and software.

All of the charges that have been bogus on my card were made on the internet. I've got alerts set on that card to tell me when it's used online no matter what the amount of the charge is. That makes it very hard to sneak something past me and like I said BoA has done an excellent job. The interest rate on that card isn't too bad either.

I never had any trouble with my cards so far, Thank God :)
One time a few years ago I was at a truck stop, I had my truck & my pickup following.
I filled up the truck with diesel & had to use a separate pump for gas for the pickup.
Doom the bank frooze my second transaction & I had to call & explain the situation.
After all the security questions were answered correctly, they reinstated my card.
They told me because the second transaction was so close to the first at the same location they picked it up and stopped my card.

On a more positive note My limitless plus came today :)
I'v only been using it for a few hours But! first impressions are 2 giant thumbs up!
Any one wanting to try a new Gene style atty, this is the one.
Massive Air flow, big capacity real easy to build, 4 cool colours & the price is rite :)
one con the bottom grub acres aren't the best :( I will just switch them out :)
I paid 32 Canadian dollars for mine here in Canada :)

Here is more than you ever cared to know about what is on one of my cards :matrix:

No zip though unless it is obfuscated.

I've got "30/30" so not too bad. What's funny is that I remember running a 1000 seat network and feeling good about a "full T" to connect to the internet.
Don't have 30/30 but I do own a 45/70. Does that count?

and hg will run one more round in the contest (round 9) if we can get the necessary entries within 24 hours. very doable if people don't get their entries disqualified!
winner for round 8 will be picked shortly! ;)
Can you choose the same things as you did in round 8?
