Got a buddy who recently became a father and is looking to quit smoking (again)...any suggestions on a starter mod/kit with Temp. Control? Ever since I started constructing my own mods with the Evolve DNAxxx boards, I've not paid any attention to what else is out there.

SlickWilly posted a link to the LavaBox M DNA75 and its a great deal at $46 and still available. I really don't trust charging in a mod unless it has an Evolv board.

Well I guess the Canadian Dog Sled Team was feed Well :)
So Far the Ammit 25 is a lot like a Pharaoh!
It's a lot smaller & more attractive to look at.
The draw is a bit tighter & the flavour seems a bit, just a bit! muted compared to the Pharaoh!
The build quality seems good :) it comes with 2 pieces of glass but only one of each 2 Mil & 5 Mil.
I like the "goon style drip tip" it came with a top cap adapter for the tip but no goon tip, I purchased them separately
The build deck is a bit smaller & the wire retention system seems a bit more trouble than the clamp, the Pharaoh has.
IMO the side air flow is watering down the flavour that tinny bit! With the Pharaoh it's only bottom Air flow so all the air hits the coil from the bottom not the bottom & side like the 25.
I would like to use them for a while longer before I say for sure, But as of now IMO the Pharaoh is in the lead by a bit :)
After using them for a while I will post a follow up, with any faults I mite find :)
BTW I'm in TC Mode, the coil is 2 by 24 wrapped in 30 gauge all Titanium wire :)

My Ammit dual has better flavor. The Ammit 25 is flat milled inside at the top of the atty chamber. I'm amazed that GV did that knowing that conical and domed shapes are better for flavor.

The flat top mite be adding to the lack of intense flavour :(

Also airflow, wasted airflow kills flavor.
I think this is a big part of it to! A percentage of side Air flow gets sucked straight up the chimney with out hitting any thing. It's like watering down booze :(

Example: obs engine nano, one of the worst things I've ever tried in 6 years of vaping, has an unnecessarily large chamber that's almost hilariously tall with about 80% unused space, and the airflow is designed in a way where only about 60% of it reaches the coil... the rest either misses it completely or hits the cotton. There's actually a superfluous air hole in the back that's way to far from the coil anyway & just squirts air out all over the back of the posts.

Side airflow works actually quite well if the coil is able to be positioned in the right place, we used it for years on genny's

Last time I watered down booze was when I was a teenager and didn't want Dad to know I had sneaked a few pulls.

It's more the size of the chamber than anything else, putting a cone on top of a chamber the size of an 18350 isn't really going to do much, it's hopeless at that point lol.

Too much and wasted airflow yes, can't agree with your assessment of coned and domed tops though. An internally flat milled top cap will cause the liquid in the vapor to fall out of suspension in that sharp corner. That liquid then just runs back down the chamber wall.

idk, have to agree to disagree on that one I guess, every tank I've ever used had liquid run back down, cone or not... a lot of the tanks these days have the cone on top of huge chambers, it doesn't help the muted flavor imo.

The ubertoot that I use every day has also a flat ceiling, but on top of a compacted chamber and I still keep going back to it, I haven't found an atty w/ better vapor density and flavor.

@turbocad6 did research with chamber size and shape awhile ago. IIRC he custom cut chambers. I don't have time right now to find his posts about it, but he is pretty thorough when he gets his mind set on a task.

Mike is correct that vaping style will alter what is best from one person to another. I still haven't found anything I like better than the old modified for bottom feeding triangle atty (RM2) which has a pretty small chamber. I think I have 6 or so new triangles that I haven't modified yet. Wish I would have known they were stopping production of them so I could have bought a bunch at less than $10 each. The chalice and Nuppin are close contenders for me but they don't surpass it. Course I'm still tootle puffing my MM at 0.5 to 0.7 ohms, which is funny to call it tootle puffing since we were on the leading edge a few years ago with most people thinking we were crazy sub ohming. Guess I found my rut back then and still enjoy wallering in it. ;)
