I was thinking in terms of new peeps, though if done right and safely I don't necessarily think a closed system us a bad thing.
This is sort of what I was thinking, TC is possible with almost all wires in use rn, so if you want to keep the open system it would need to be a feature in the board that determines tcr and then assigns a TFR map... but really from my limited understanding of metallurgy idk if this is possible, though I think it should be with drop-in coils.
The other way would be to require all new drop-in coils to be TC friendly, you could replace kanthal as the "standard" with something that's user friendly & dry burnable like kanthal, but also capable of TC. One of the NiFe's or SS's, just off the top of my head...
Or you could use that fsk software which "approximates" TC using kanthal or nichrome. Lots of options, but I think we all realized that it can't continue like this forever, nor should it, imo.
