kiba, You'd probably get a laugh out of this story. Back when I first started twisting wrenches in the 70's the
shop I worked in had these old in ground double post lifts, one post was stationary to lift under the rear axle and the front you would slide forward or rearward to lift under the front suspension, kind of like in the pic below but it was vintage even in the 70's.
The lift I used didn't work right, you started putting air pressure to it and it would lag before lifting, suddenly the pressure would rise enough and the front would BOOM jump a good foot in the air almost tossing a car off the lift. They had people come in to service the lift one day, I had an engine on a stand torn down that I was rebuilding, the engine came from a convertible that was sitting next to it. During lunch the lift repair guys were working on it when we suddenly heard a bunch of yelling in the shop, we walked out of the lunch room to see a two inch stream of hydraulic oil rising from the in ground oil reserve tank up like a oil gusher and hitting the ceiling then showering all over the shop. One of the workers had pulled the fill cap off the tank and another applied pressure to test the lift not knowing the cap was still off. There was old cream colored hydraulic oil, that stunk like hell, cream colored because it had water in it, all over the place. It was all inside the engine I was rebuilding, inside the open drawers of my tool box and all over the outside of the box, the walls, floor, dripping from the ceiling, the lights and all inside and outside of that convertible, the top was down....
