Hi. I have a question that I'd love some feedback on, but it's not really conducive to googling. I started a trial run years ago with Blu, Vuse, and NJoy refillables. I participated in market research on the Juul cartridges, and switched to a refillable AIO unit (Aspire Breeze) a couple of years ago. I just finally made the plunge into box kits with a smok Mag Grip.

Problem is, my experience so far is a bad one. I'm getting an almost overwhelming taste of the vape juice, which I initially thought might be due to higher wattage than I'm used to. I *seem* to be getting juice in the mouth though (strangely, it's somewhat tough to tell) - not hot pops of it, it just seems to be coating my tongue (and making me feel sick). I'm using 70/30 PG/VG, btw.

Does anyone else have experience with this happening, or with having a totally different experience between smaller wattage AIOs and more customizable setups?

Not familiar with your equipment but you've come to the right place. Someone will be along shortly who can help you, no doubt. Welcome home :)

ETA: it could just be that your new setup is producing stronger flavor than you're used to. This sometimes happens with more advanced equipment. Quite a few of us have lowered our flavoring % as we upgraded equipment or just became more distanced from our smoking (improved taste buds). It's not unheard of for strong flavors to make one feel queezy.

I'm betting it could be the change. Nothing tastes burnt, right? Seems to be functioning well?

When I got an APV I lowered my flavoring % some. Don't remember feeling sick, but the flavor really "popped" and was too intense for me. It could also be "spraying" juice into your mouth perhaps, though - not so much "spitting" as I think you'd notice that. It's really hard for me to assess this as I don't have any knowledge of your specific equipment.

Does your atomizer gurgle a bit when you draw on it? If so, your atomizer may be flooded, which can but there's an easy fix for that. Take a tissue or paper towel and cover the air flow holes of your atomizer, then turn it upside down and blow in the atomizer. The juice that's in the air flow will come out of the air flow holes and onto the tissue. This should fix your flooding issue & should keep yyou from getting juice or juice condensation in the mouth.

You seem to have only tested low quality stuff. SMOK is generally considered the very bottom of bottom shelf box mods.

With box mods though they aren’t a single piece. The SMOK grip can have any of many atomizers attaches to it, and the atomizer not the grip is going to cause or not cause the problems you are having. I assume you bought a SMOK grip kit with the atomizer included. Which atomizer was included?

I would maybe try a different tank so you have something to compare it too. Maybe that way we can ween out if it's just your taste buds, or if you're getting spit back. Spit back is usually hot and you will know it when/if it lands on your tongue.

A flooded tank (with a gurgle) when you pull on it wont produce much vapor and flavor will taste a little duller.

I agree across the board. I think a few things could be tried, one is the lower the pg, perhaps try a 70vg in that tank. Mess with flavor percentages and perhaps try another tank just to compare. I personally do mtl tanks, so cannot reccomend one....also , because some tanks are meant to be a really open draw, they just work better that way and if you tighten up airflow, you can be bringing up more juice...I normally dont try and persuade drop in coil users to try rebuildables, but in these uncertain times, It most likely can behoove you to learn

I have pods and mods of all sorts. You are correct to think that each will give a very different vaping experience.

Tanks will give more hit and flavor than pods, RTAs will give more than tanks, and RDAs will give more still, generally speaking.

But regardless of which form factor you prefer, get the best brand in that style that you can afford.

If you find your favorite juice is too much in the mod kit, you could get some unflavored and dilute it a bit to suit you.

First off, that's probably not the right tank for you. Second, are you sure it was 70%PG (not VG) juice... that's very thin! How many watts are you using. So many posts lately from people getting big "cloud chaser" Smok mod/tanks, many jumping right from small pod devices. I just don't get it.

A. Odd complaint, but it seems common (based on the 'net): When I quit smoking and went to vaping full-time, I started getting a million canker sores. Was trying anything to cut that down, and saw some recommendations to increase % of PG, so that's what I've been accustomed to ordering.

B. I've tried different wattages, haven't noticed much difference.

C. Heh, bought the Smok unit on sale - impulse buy.

Hi and welcome,
As long as you are taking strong, fast draws of about 3 seconds max, it should work just fine.
If you are trying to take a comfortable, slow, cigarette like draw, you are not going to be happy with that tank.

Are your draws similar in strength and duration to the reviewer below?
Start at 10:50

Hope that helps.

Thanks to everyone who has replied! I tried cutting the juice a bit with distilled water, before going overboard, and it seems to have helped a bit. I think the flavor probably has something to do with it, as well. Weird times in Michigan with the upcoming ban - I've been gifted different flavors (and PG/VG ratios), so I'm going to see if those work better (even diluted a bit). Thanks again for the advice!
