Was in and out of the office today, after about 8 hours into the shift a senior manager I don't know asked what I was using, after a couple of fake coughs. I explained, she asked if I had to use it inside, not for personal reasons, just being curious, I explained that the twenty people I worked with have not had any problem and were all supportive of me giving up smoking. She then about faced and said due to personal prejudice she wanted me to go outside. So I did for half an hour and vaped to my hearts content. Luckily I don't see her often so it will be business as usual next week.

On the up side my new ss VAMO came today so I have a bigger pv to parade with!

Fortunately I doubt she has enough influence to instigate a policy decision. For the majority of the time she was blissfully unaware I was vaping within metres of her, once she clocked it it was all systems go. I'll speak with my station governor when I see him and see if she has created any waves, he's fine with me cracking on vaping whilst in the office as its not lost time like smoking used to be.

i would think more employers would be happy about using PV's because of this very reason. more employees not having to burn 5-10mins of paid time to burn one...good for the company!

think about it...even 5 cigs a day would be nearly an hour they paid you for and you did zero work.

at minimum wage for a FT employee that's easily 40$ a week your saving them.

2,080$ a year! for just one employee. show a company it saves them money and they will support it!
10 employees would be 20,800$ a year, no company is gonna balk at saving 20k a year. that pays for an entire employee making minimum wage for almost a year!

sounds to me like she is a real ......... [insert whatever you like] I know too many of those "entitled" people and as far as I am concerned it is the man thing that has destroyed society today, no one is allowed to be offended or else the get offended ...end of rant

Couldnt agree with you more. Most people have been taught for at least a generation and sometimes longer that its okay to blame other people for their problems.

You see it all the time lately. A morbidly obese man sues McDonalds because they MADE him fat. Smokers sue cigarette manufactures because they gave them cancer (never mind that most of us coughed our lungs out/didnt like the taste of one the first time we tried them) and moms lobby schools to have peanut butter removed from their schools menu because their kid is allergic to it (even though they could take 5 minutes to pack their lunch for them)

Then people act surprised that tragedies like Sandy Hook elementary happened. Why? Im not condoning the guys actions by any means but society taught him it was alright to blame someone else for his problems.

End rant

I have no problem with legitimate issues. If someone truly has an allergic reaction that's one thing. But, we seem to have a whole lot of people in society who seem to just be petty and wake up every day with intentions of making other people miserable. They really get their kicks out of griping and groaning and making everyone else life miserable. Love to make people squirm. And, what really just irks the snot out of me is those people seem to get their way more often than not when the matter goes to the supervisors or HR, because those people don't want to deal with or don't know how to deal with the pettiness.

It's unfortunate how the timing worked out... 10-15 years ago, when there was a smoking section in every restaurant, ecigs would have been a welcome alternative. Now, having just run all of the smokers not just outside but often off premises, it's going to be a hard fight to come back indoors. In general, I just observe the same rules as smoking and go outside in public places.

On more than one occasion, I've had friends/family insist that I come back inside when I do so at *their* homes, though. :)

I've had a word with a few colleagues who know her a bit better than me, they said its just a public power thing. I have no option but to tow the line when she's about, but will revert to business as usual when she's not. The good thing is most of my colleagues told me on the quiet afterwards not to worry about it. And they will be the ones that come running to help me when I put up an assistance shout, not her.
