Hello there,

Now around eight months ago, I cut a few mint leaves and dipped them into VG inside a small bottle, locked it and shook it from time to time.

Eight months later (today), I open the bottle, and goodness gracious! The smell of strong mint fills my room. It actually smells really good! This is only the smell though.

Now I'm not really experienced when it comes to making my own extracts. I've done a lot of research but I'm still not there yet. Now I would love to vape this extract, and that means I would need to filter it a few times to make sure it's close to pure liquid. Does anyone know if my mint might have bacteria or anything similar since it was fresh when I started steeping it 8 months ago? Because it still looks the same, only transparent now (I don't see anything weird swimming around it or anything, I just want to know what I should do next, since I have no idea how good VG is with preserving organic stuff)

(As you can see, it has a slight natural greenish color to it)

To all the experts out there. What should I do next?

Thanks!

bacteria will not grow in VG so you have nothing to worry about. As far as filtering it there are many ways to do this. you can use a strainer to strain out the mint leaves then filter it through a coffee filter then remove the needle from a large syringe and place cotton at the bottom and fill it with the mixture and plunge through the cotton to finely filter it.

you can read through this forum for more ideas. It's based on tobacco extraction but the principles are the same. There are also methods that will take far less time then 8 months as well which will also be located in this forum.

Okay I added about three drops of it to my current mix of strawberry flavor (3ml). Doesn't taste so bad! I can taste the natural mint as if I'm chewing it, but I think it will be much better if mixed with better flavors. Any suggestions? It tastes very natural (I don't know why I expected to taste the artificial mint lol).

*I know I should have filtered it first for the taste test, but I couldn't wait any longer heh

Thanks for the info and link! I'll check it out and start filtering it this week.
