After reading this thread I went on and took a close look at my eGo batteries. I have an original eGo-C battery from Ovale and an eGo-T battery that I bought recently online. This last one has the joyetech logo on the metal cap at the bottom and says eGo-T on the side.

The thing is they don't have the same font size. They also don't have the same length. Is this normal?

They both claim to be 650mah, they both have the 5 click protection and they both have white LEDs.

@Governa,

All I know is that the Authentic Joyetech web site has a section of Authorized sellers. If your seller is not in that list, then
I would be very leery about your products authenticity.

If you google: "ego T china manufacturer wholesale" you will be shocked to see how man FAKES are being manufactured with the eGo logo. Check out how cheap the "fakes" are. Suppliers that buy in bulk can buy eGo Kits for under $5.00
and turn around and sell them to us for $69.99 - $79.00. Talk about "Highway Robbery"!!!

I started a new thread under this section, called: "Forum - The E-Cigarette - General E-Smoking Discussion -
Authentic Joyetech eGo C versus knock off eGo C - Prices"

We are paying "top dollar" for what we think are the Authentic Joyetech, when in fact, they are cheap knockoffs.

Something has to be done to stop this flagrant, misrepresentation and price gouging of FAKES for two reasons.
First and foremost "safety" and second, "fakes" do not warrant the "top dollar" price tag, due to manufacturing defects.

I trust the seller 100%. That's why I didn't mention them, to avoid misunderstandings. :)

But as a consumer I do find it confusing to have the same product branded in many different ways, all supposedly from the same source. Small eGo-T logo, big eGo-T logo, eGo-T™ logo with the ™ mark, eGo-T logo with no ™ mark, no eGo-T logo whatsoever, etc. :confused:

On top of that when people report exploding batteries then of course I do worry and I want to make sure the products I buy were properly QA'd, especially when I am paying a premium. :2c:

@Governa

I completely understand your not wanting to p*ss off your seller. I too have been in your shoes. But, this is the 2nd time I am reading about an exploding battery in the past 2 yrs of my peeking in on this forum & now I am pretty much developing a spine and asking outright, "Is the eGo T that you have been selling me the authentic version or not? Please be honest."
Well, I got an honest reply, it was "NO". Needless to say, I asked him why he was charging premium price for a knockoff, so far I have NOT gotten a response from him. So I took it upon myself to start the tread that I mentioned above or below depending how you set up your viewing of the comments.

Just remember, after all, it's your money & your safety we are talking about here. Not someone else's EGO! (And I don't mean the ecig.)

This thread got me to rethink charging overnight. Then it got me thinking about when I leave the batteries charging unattended. Now I touch the batteries every now and then while they are charging to see if they're warm. When I charge them unattended I use my box that I made. It was too cold for fishing or golf the other day so I got into an afternoon project with the thought of booming batteries in mind. Now I'm thinking about getting one of those charging bags to put my box in to catch any stray flames that get out of its vents if there is a failure.

This is my post from the thread I started
Hopefully none of my batteries blow but if they do, I'll have severely reduced damage or maybe no damage due to my explosive containment unit.
The tray has clearance around the sides and top for ventilation and is locked in place securely while the batteries are charging.
The groves in the eGo charger fit perfectly in the slots on the front so it holds the 650mah batterys far enough away from the back of the tray to allow the end caps to blow out if there is a failure.

It will even work with the 900mah batteries

@Sheriff420

Wow, you sure are a handy person. Amazing set up. To bad the rest of us are not as gifted as you. These exploding ecigs have many of us worried now. It makes no sense what so ever to have to create or buy protective boxes just to recharge these units. The onus should be on the manufacturers to build safe products. And on the sellers to ensure that they are not forgoing safety for profit margin. In other words, sellers should be extra cautious about whom they buy from.

After all, anyone in China can slap a label on their literature and claim it meets USA or Canadian safety regulations.

All the more reason to make sure that we are buying direct from the Authentic company and not a knockoff product.
It's time we became very vocal about faulty equipment & knockoffs.

I know mine is authentic, Vaporkings.com is listed on Joyetechs website as an authorized distributor. I didn't think to check that before I bought my eGo-C and I'm glad to find out that it isn't a fake.
I think the most important question to ask the people that have had a battery blow is has that battery ever (or frequently) been over charged?
I've only charged both of my batteries about 6 times since I got them so I doubt any damage has been done with the few overnight charges that have happened. At least I hope none has been done.

I caught a V-2 battery before it exploded. It was so hot I had to use a towel to unscrew it. I unplugged it from the wall first of course. I Knew it was getting close to full charge and im lucky I checked on it. Had I left it on overnight like I normally would have, It would have been bad. I do that most every night. Tell now. Too much firework story's have come up.

Have you thought about plumbing a powered vent hose to exhaust the toxic fumes in case one of the eGo batteries blow?

The lithium in batteries is a liquid and is caustic. There just ought to be a fuse or efficient breaker on our chargers, but cost is always the consideration in manufacturing. They design these things to be safe and then marketing starts chipping away until the bare essentials are left in the device.

Just remember to Un-Plug from the Wall if you Ever did have a Problem. Metal can Conduct Volts/Amps.

I just work with what I have most of the time like I did with that box.
Unplugging would be the first thing I did, I know too well what 120v feels like. It tingles a bit, it isn't as bad as a phone line though.
I thought about redesigning the box and making it out of steel with a vent on one side instead of both so the flame would hit the bottom of the box before it went up toward the vents. I'm thinking about more space for the flame to fill before it escapes the box. If I get another day with nothing to do then I might make a better one. Then again, I've always got designs for different projects jumbling around in my head, it makes it tough to get to sleep sometimes. Some people say I have ADD but I don't believe them.

My thoughts exactly. Then you throw a nice day in the mix and golf/fishing/vehicle maintenance gets in the way of any projects you want to do. Around dark and for a couple hours after is a good time for projects on those nice days.
