I feel that I do also have to point out that there is often more danger in thinking you are protected from an explosion than knowing you aren't for sure.
Here's what I mean, take two scenarios:

- You're using a couple of batteries that are supposed to be protected but for whatever reason, unknown to you, the protection circuit malfunctions in one of them - so you're there, happily vaping away and your batteries start to feel a bit warm. You say to yourself, "not to worry, they are protected, so if they get dangerously discharged, the protection will kick in" .......................BOOM! OOPS!
- You're using a couple of CR2s, the device starts to feel a bit warm - you stop vaping because you know for sure your batteries aren't protected and extra warmth is not a good sign... Disaster averted.
