Almost had it done :(

I could have been more careful. I'll try this again when the moral rises, I'll have to stay flat on the grinder this time....

Welcome to the nightmare.... :-x

I think I went through about a half-dozen wicks before I got the hang of it....and yep, most of them broke either when I was doing the "last finishing touches", or when I had finished everything, had it mounted up, and was doing the final snug-up of the coil on the positive post...SNAP!.....very frustrating.

No worries though... once you get the feel for working with the stuff, and start respecting the fragility of the wicks, it becomes fairly simple.

Just be thankful we're not working with explosives....

They still havent arrived yet, guess there is a huge backlog of Easter eggs at AustPost, heck I have some other things I am waiting on and nothing .... getting frustrated....

I looked at those on eBay and I wanted to grab one of those to try it out.... also saw a similar one at the pet supply store at Bankstown a few weeks back, was thinking of grabbing some firing it to see if it falls apart etc.... dont know though....

I am hearing you on the postal delays. Currently waiting for GGTS, ceramic wicks & Vamo. Whole bunch of atty's sitting hear all cleaned up waiting for wicks.

My vamo is dead now, only use it for reading ohms, the voltage fluctuates and burns juice and its like a lucky dip each time you press the button, strangely enough though the watts setting will work.... just voltage is unreliable

The tank trim. I decided to trim after I coiled it. This wire is thick. I almost had it done... I decided to go for that last trim... :)
Just looking at the picture you may have taken off a bit too much. It's barely noticeable when done, only about .2mm difference all around. Better than half the time I spent with that little 545 Dremel wheel getting the wick hole section nearly perfect. Too bad that broke on you ... would have loved to hear back on results. It's also easier to work on a thicker 4mm wick than playing around with 7/64.

I just got that 4mm ceramic done for my AGA and pulled the 220mm solid 4mm SS mesh I had been running for the last week. There is no comparison really, the ceramic walks all over the mesh even when not tipped -- flavor, cloud, TH-wise. That top reservoir never dries out, even replenishes itself through the wick's insides while running it continuously with a mechanical for well over 60 seconds ... but done on a 4/5 using 30ga.

Very nice fat reservoir. That's a real dandy.

Before we start drilling ( to make a straw ), what is the purpose? Yea the ceramic is porous, but is it porous enough to let the juice seep through enough or are we going for an over the top gravity feed? Then again once the wick is broken in the pore's would be and stay full from the inside? Steady Hand ain't gonna try that, good luck peeps.....Interesting!:vapor::headbang:

OK...another Franken-Wick concept. I seem to be going in the opposite direction than some, but here's what I'm playing with right now.

The 5mm wick has been working fine in the RSST, but I didn't like two things. One; trying to get the Ohms down to below 2.0 Ohms and still having enough wraps on the coil to produce decent vapor, and Two; the Vape-lag with the large diameter wick....it was like: hit the button...wait...wait..wait...OK, finally a nice vape.

So... I made a new 5mm wick & turned the top section down to 1/8 inch (opposite from what others have done - my "reservoir" is in the juice):

Did a 4/5 wrap of .5 X .1 mm Ribbon Kanthal that's giving me 1.9 Ohms. Nice wick coverage, I may remove a wrap later to bring the Ohm rating more inline with my sweet-spot (< 1.5 Ohms), but for now, just going to break it in.

The vape-lag has been reduced significantly....just a slight delay between button press & vapor production, but still takes a second or so before its optimum...I think it will get better as it breaks in.
Wicking is already starting to pick up after about half-a-tank, the top of the wick is staying wet even after a couple of long pulls and flavors are starting to come out.
So far, so good....I'm already starting to like it better than the straight 5mm wick, but I'll have to give it a day or so to see if the flavors are as good as the larger wick.

Definitely seems to be some trade-offs between the various ceramic wick diameters...bigger may not be better (for me at least)....only time will tell.

Got the .5mm ribbon today. Wow! with a 5/6 wrap, 1.1 ohm on a 3/32 I can say I finally say I found my sweet spot. No wicking issues, perfect temperature , perfect taste, just enough throat hit. I am chain vaping, the wire will not run hot at constant 3.7v as long as I'm puffing. Do have it running with the liquid screw off.

Hey guys, I'm a little perplexed here and need some wisdom from those in the know. I've been running diy cermic fishsticks for about a month now and have had really good success - just one wierd issue. I have 2 rba's, one is the original Aga-T with the orange o-rings, and the other is the Aga-T2 with a glass tank. The only real difference between the two that I can tell is that the Aga-T2 has a little smaller diameter wick hole (aside from the general metal SS makeup of the Aga-T2).

Ok, so I have a 3/32 wick in the original aga-t with a 5/4 wrap of 30g coming in at 1.4 ohms (plenty of wiggle room in the wick hole). The flavor is ecellent with this and is my go-to setup. The newer Aga-T2 simply will not produce the flavor of the original Aga-T for some reason. I have thinned the diameter of the wick to account for the smaller wick hole and tried various setups: 5/4 30g, 6/5 30g, 4/3 28g and 4/3 32g, and it will absolutely rock the vapor but I can't duplicate the flavor from the older Aga-T.

I have not drilled out the wick hole on either of these aga's. Scratching my head here trying to figure out what's causing this lack of flavor. I am a one juice vaper so it's easy for me to tell when the flavor is there or not - it's a 50/50 diy waffle juice. Any ideas?

Btw - I use the EHW method on all of my coils and have it down pretty well, good and tight.

I think these ceramics continue to get better over time, and you may not have noticed the gradual improvements. Replicate the setup and let time do it's thing. I've also had what I would call "Golden Wicks" but mostly with other types.

Yea, maybe I just got lucky with original "golden wick". Definately not giving up here...
