will do... a few days have passed, and i'm game for another go with my DID.
at least my Hydra is still going strong; will be due for its 3rd cleaning.
I can always use eko or nextel as a "sock" that works great; just gunks up in no time; but should be easy to wash and dry burn too; especially the ceramic nextel (which i don't have yet -just the XS which is silica not as tough...)...

I have seen that with nichrome it is slightly more susceptible to shorting, but this wasn't with ceramic and genesis set-ups so not really sure if it can be compared. personally I have never used nichrome so I really don't know if it really has anything to do with your issues but its worth a try. maybe the different make up of the wire is causing it to expand more then kanthal. also give the drill bit method a go as well, like nam mentioned, a lot have had great results doing it that way also.

can someone tell me what size ceramic wick will fit in the I-Atty? is it same as Z-Atty?

The 7/64" might fit. I have that size wick and an iChybrid, but never tried to fit it. I would run a SS 3/32 7X7 cable/rope wick with a mesh diaper on top where the coil goes. That is if you are asking about the I-atty made by Yiloong that FT sells for $15.

Yes the I-Atty from FT, shall I purchase the FC-2000 1/8" or 7/64" from DV...using Kanthal 30g heating wire?

make sure its small enough or the diaper material is wide enough... i like some room at the wick hole so the juice can come up with a tilt.
Don't choke the wick hole with the diaper either... just my 2c.

diaper is for hassle free (hot spots) firing...

So I should go with the 7/64" then? 28g or 30g do you recommend?
Can someone clarify what you guys mean by diaper material?

depends on the wick hole diameter... important consideration.

diaper - more like a sock ... you have to carefully cut your sleeve of hollow eko wool for example (and one with the right diamater to fit over the wick tip)... torching it first helps to harden the fibers.
the trick is wrapping your wire over it without spreading out the fibers too much.
just enough of a sock to go under the wire, and not choke the wick hole either so i would leave some room for the wick at the hole.

depending on whether your power supply is mechanical, and you know how to safely build and vape a low resistance coil (.7 to 1.2 Ohms)... stick with 1.1 to 1.5 Ohms if you are not experienced, 28g or 30g is good. right in the ball park.

if you are using a VV or VW you can go with 1.2 to 1.8 ohms and use more voltage.

the sock will prevent hot spots and given its wrapped decently, and your power to resistance is balanced, it will give you a great vape every time.

thanks... i am not too experienced and thinking of getting the 7/64" since it seems to be the right fit for the i-atty, prob go with 4/5 wraps with a 32g kanthal... i should get about 1.4 ohms and use my evic device.

yes... bad. 3 wrap with 28 or 30 is way too low... for evic, which is regulated and VV i think, you need to use 1.5 Ohms and up.

I'd use the 30g and with a wick like 7/64, if it fits the hole, do about 8 wraps, close together its ok if they touch (micro coil) side by side.
make sure the wires are wrapped cleanly and trim the excess from the pos and neg posts after you secure them.

its best to have a multi meter or ohms reader (easier) to test your coil before you put it on the evic.... if its regulated as i assume, the evic will not fire if the ohms are too low.

32g 4 wraps is plenty.

i don't want to throw you a curve ball, but you could use the 30g with say 6 to 7 wraps close together. shouldn't be too low, and with more coils close together, you get better juice distribution over the vaporizing surface... see micro coil threads.

I bought 6 of these to try and after snapping 3 of them I decided to wrap a couple of microcoils (not sure what size, they fit my larger precision screw drivers) that were a little larger than the wick. I pulled some cotton fibers off with the rough edge of the ceramic and seated two of them into an AGA-UDT at about 1.32 ohms with 28g kanthal. The cotton helped them fit nice and snug, and then I used some dikes to cut the tops off so I could close the lid. I used too much kanthal so it takes a while to heat up but I was chain vaping like crazy, at least a mil of juice, trying to get a dry hit last night and couldn't get one. Flavor seemed a little muted but it was a new 0 nic juice I had only tried on a dripper at the store. After I'm done with the tank I'll try another juice I know very well with more nicotine. I figure the cotton will go bad before the ceramic so I can hopefully just yank the wicks out, re-apply some cotton and go on about my merry way. I feel like it's wicking much better than cotton alone, and I'm pretty satisfied. Not sure whether or not it leaks through the wick holes though as I've mostly had it upright, but I think the cotton runs down into the tank some so it should swell up enough to prevent too much leaking.
