Lol. How about T4W? Turspedies tweezer tensioned triangle wrap. In all seriousness , I cannot take credit for the method since its just my interpretation of others ideas and suggestions across these boards. But if my guide helps people switch to ribbon, which is a much better wire, and to wrap safe without getting burned, that's very cool!

Actually, it is so much easier and safer to do a hot wrap with ribbon than with 30g, because it's sturdy and holds its shape and tension really well, so much that you can just use tweezers for the tensioning. I took some pics of a previous wrap I did.

Started with a 5/64 drill bit to wrap it into shape:

Then slid it into a juice-oiled wick, tensioned it really hard with opposing motions and wrapping over the excess at both ends to cross them into a triangle, which I then held with tweezers:

Burned it to a nice glow....

And the end result is a tight coil pretty much fused to the wick:

Looking forward to trying this with .5mm ribbon on the 3/32 wicks.

Hey! Nice work, Turspedie! You were talking about trying something like this way back in the day! Looks like it was a good idea!

EDIT: just checked, for the heck of it, cause I was trying to remember the context: post #625

So I ordered some of the 3/32 ceramics and none of them fit in my aga wick hole....super bummer. Guess no ceramic for me today.

Can I get some clarification on this fish wick people are using? what exactly is it and how are you using it? I keep seeing it mentioned but can't seem to find any good in depth info on it.

Oh man thats unreal, I took delivery of my other ribbons today so I will try them out using your method, makes sense, I was trying to EHW it but couldnt get it to stick so I didnt even try vaping, it seems now we are getting spoilt that unless we have a coil hug the wick tightly that we are unsatisfied.

Great job, thanks for sharing

Mine arrived last week and didn't fit either, but they almost did. I took one and gently eased some off by rubbing it across my dremel diamond wheel. The dremel wasn't plugged in, I just used the wheel as a hand sander. You could probably get the same results with a sanding block. Anyhow, I only needed to remove a small amount, being careful to keep the round cylinder shape and in it went into the AGA-T. Good luck!:toast:

So it turns out I went to grab my second bottle of juice, I mix 2 bottles, one week apart approx, vape one the other has is steeping empty bottle remix vape the steeped bottle simple process yeah? but my daughter sees the juice and decides she would try it, she loved it and was using it and forgot to mention it to me, anyway you can imagine.... had to go grab my second most favorite juice... good thing I have heaps around, trouble is the juice I like needs to steep for a long period otherwise its...

Anyway this Sunday is my free day.... daughter is having her Kitchen Tea, you know where the women get together and drink tea, gather kitchen stuff etc... girlie stuff, well I said it to all today that there should be a garage beer for the guys, guys get together, have a beer, gather stuff for the garage, a couple of waitresses in lingerie serving beers all good...

Oh back to the point of the free Sunday, well I finally will have time to make juice, make coils etc and am very keen to try the wrap method for the ribbon by terspedie

I would love to see it video running juice through it or some photos etc, also with those wraps what resistance you getting and what voltage you running at.

i did an Elias Hot Wrap test with the fc2000 wick:

First:tried hot wrapping by heating just the wire, and spinning the wick. got a couple overheats, and the kanthal snapped. did a good one, tightly wrapped. tested the melding strenth by prodding the coils. some were on pretty good, but alot were easy to move, and did not stick well.

Second: i tried heating the wick only, and manually wrapping the coil 1/2 a turn at a time on the heated area, backed it off so not to overheat the wire and snap it. did this untill fully wrapped. more specific, i heated a spot on the wick close to where the next wrap would be, and let the glow sneak up to the next coil area. once that area glowed, i pulled away from the torch flame and quickly wrapped the coil on the glow, then repeated till done.

tested the melding strenth by prodding. all the coil wraps were tight, and did not move.

so it appears all you really need to do is make sure the part of the wick is glowing were your coling, and it will meld very good. better than heating the wire and spinning the non-glowing wick. also prevents wire breakage do to overheating.

I have since undone that wrap, since the vape was just too mellow for my taste, I need some throat hit, but it was a test of whether it is possible to pull off .8mm ribbon on a 3/32 wick and an AGA. It was doing some great vertical wicking to my surprise and tons of vapor. If you are into super low res and dont mind sacrificing throat hit to maximize flavor .8mm might be the wire for you. It came at .7 ohms and I was using a Legacy mechanical with a 18650 AW battery. I should have .5mm in the mailbox by next week and I will make a new wrap and add some video.

in my close up example I do both, but yes it appears to be a key factor that the wick is heated up to a nice orange glow, if you look at my video you will see I tend to lead the heat and follow round with the coil but I am heating both

that must be a much different aga then mine, i have the original one with orange o-rings and i have major space between the wick & wick hole. i guess it can also be that you just got some really big 3/32 wicks, but for them to be that much bigger doesnt seem right.

i just recieved the ac-9 clone. i actually used the fill hole with a 3/32 wick and did a 4/5 wrap with 29g, this came out to 1.1Ω which is weird because on my other set-up i have another 3/32 wick with 30g, also a 4/5 wrap of 30g, which also comes out to 1.1Ω. so it must be a slightly larger 3/32 wick, but if anything it looks smaller. being that my 30g set-up wasnt ehw, but hand wrapped, i wonder by doing a hot wrap if it shrinks the wires slightly and reduces the resistances. anyways the clone has some great flavor to it and for 35 bucks its not to bad.
