“Don't be browbeaten by those who like to interfere in others lives. Worrying about what other people think is a sign of insecurity.”
That is very true.... and something I teach my children.
I make a point of letting people around me know what it is I am doing, and how it is not smoking, and then I let them decide ( if it is their property ) how to treat it, and I don’t complain no matter which way it goes. In public places, I use it as I want too, but I try not to be too "in your face" about it, I don’t walk up to rabid anti-smokers and blow it in their face.
But some folks don’t seem to understand that a bar is not a public place, nor is a store, nor restaurant, or any place of business that you work at, those are all private places, privately owned. ( unless you work for the government )
I honestly don’t think there is much of a difference between what I do and what others do.
I know if I vaped at work at my desk there would be complaints from folks that didn’t know, and I would end up in HR in short order, and then there would be an official company policy forbidding it. Instead I vape outside, but my co-workers who don’t smoke are starting to question why I need to do that. My own management is starting to question it. So when the issue gets to HR, instead of "this guy is doing something like smoking at his desk and we aren’t sure we like that" it will be more like, "Hey this guy is going outside to do this, and we don’t really think he needs to".
Instead of complaints… it will be support.
Like politics, and the stock market, perception can count for more than you expect it too.
