I just finished my first 5v mod. I had considered using a voltage booster but decided for the first I would use a standard TI 5v regulator. Used a 4AA battery box from RS with 2 14500's, 510 atty and RCA for the connection.

Holy crap! The nic hit compared to my 510 huge. I am actually dizzy from the nic right now!:D

Anyway, I think I have found the right voltage for me. I think 6 would be too much and the single 14500 mods just won't cut it.

Since someone wanted a picture, here is one of the 5v box mod with the TI 5v regulator.

I decided not to wait for the capacitors and made a 5v box mod with the TI 04050C booster. It has 2 14500's in parallel and uses the RCA connectors. Here is a picture of it.

Next, I'm going to order a 3AA box and the capacitors and do the 5v boost mod correctly. Not sure how I will fit it all in.

I did the mod just like Opuscrokus but my output is only like 3.6v! I ran 2 3.7v batteries in series to my button and from the button to the TI regulator. I made sure I put the wires on the right connectors. ran my ground to the center post of it.. All I get is 3.6! Anybody have any suggestions!

Center post is hot. You sure you have it wired properly? Are you using a TI 5v regulator? Sketch up your wiring and maybe we can help.

Ahh! I think I figured it out! TI makes 2 different voltage regulators for the UCC383TDKTTT! they make a -3G3 and a -5G3! I ordered it twice and one was the 3 and the other was the 5 and I grabbed the wrong one! Ugh! was a shame cause they soldered on so well! Oh well, at least I know the problem!

That will definitely do it. Think I'll go get a few more samples and see what I can come up with.

Just modded my first 5v Juice box using the TI voltage regulator. Smokes like a monster! Ive made tons of 3.7v juice boxes (which I think juicebox is the only way to go) but this 5v really puts out the vape!!

Hi Seminolewind,
Battery boxes used for mods such as radio shacks, the batteries are running in series, Quick rule of thumb, In series, batteries run positive, negative, postive, negative if you follow their ends. Paralel batteries, all positive is on one side of the box and negative on the other. In Series, you get the total amount of voltage of all the batteries. So two 3.7v batteries, you have 7.4 total volts. In paralel, with two 3.7v batteries, you still only have 3.7 volts total, but you have more current flowing, which the battery charge will last longer for longer use. I even found that on E-Cigs, it produces more vapor fo me. If you want paralel configuration in the battery box, you have to swap out the positive nipples and the negative springs so all the nipples are on one side and the springs are on the other. Make sure all the positive posts are touching each other and the negatives are touching themselves. So if you want 5v and use a TI regulator, keep the posts how they are in the box (series) and put in a TI regulator somewhere in the circuit before it gets to the e-cig recepticle. If you want to use a TI booster, you need to run the batteries in paralel so you only get 3.7v before you get to the booster which will make it go up to 5v. This is a 2 battery mod box Im talking about in all of this. Hope this makes any sense. Sorry if I confused you more

Thanks, Mike. You didn't confuse me. And I do know where to put the regulator, already memorized that, LOL!
