Hey I've decided to get myself my first dripping atomizer to use at home with my SVD. I have been thinking of rebuilding my first coil but I'm not sure if I want to get into it yet but in case I decide to do so later on I figured that a Trident clone would be a good choice.
If I got it all right they are usable straight out of the box at ~1,76 ohms.
I have seen a large amount of Trident build videos and it seems to perform really well with crazy vapor and flavor.
So I am wondering if the standard build that it comes with works as well as an fair rebuild would?

I understand that certain clones are worse than others but this one is said to be as close to the original as it could be.

The trident In my experince will do well with higher power applications soooooo for ME it doeant do as well as the atomic rda clone. The atomic has a smaller deck and smaller size in general which helps with 1.5-2 ohm builds. I have an igo-l smok rda trident v2 and an atomic and of all of them with the same coil build I enjoy the atomic the most.

I'm probably gonna try to get it to 1.3 ohms in case I go for the Trident. Anyway, are you saing that it wont give a very satisfying performance with the svd at 15 Watt?
Also my standard webshop doesn't sell the atomic and I really prefere to use them as I got discounts ^^

I have used a trident on the SVD Not an ideal set up IMO, but it worked just fine the build in it was .8 ohms. Had to have wattage at 15w to produce good vapor. That said I also failed to realize that regulated devices do better with higher ohms builds, I have since been using a few drippers in the SVD in the 1.0- 2.0 ohms range.

You have to make coils in rda applications. You can make a 1.3 ohm coil if you prefer, you can't buy coils pre-made. I would suggest looking on you tube for riptrippers before purchasing an rda. He explains coils and coil building very well. Also read ohms law and understand the theory of coil building before you buy an rda. It will do you well.

Did you use a single or dual coil?

Yeah, I have watched alot of RBA builders on youtube, among those especially rip trippers. I have to say that I feel pretty ready to give this a go. Also, I'm well familiar with ohms law already.

octopus and igo aren't bad starters at all. never used a trident clone, but if it has the same post system as the authentic, should be incredibly easy to build coils on.

Yeah, at least this one has.

I also meant to ask if it's worse to use ekowool instead of just standard cotton as wicks? Asking because as I have definitely seen more builds with cotton. And how does the ekowool diameter mather?

I want to apologize, for the life of me I could have sworn you stated you were going to " get a 1.3 ohm coil"....sorry...:) anyways the best coil build I put in the trident v2 was a dual verticle at roughly 1.5 ohms. It had the best flavor and vapor production at 11 watts HOWEVER im sure it will be much better at 15watts!!!!

I have used both single and duel in the trident I prefer duel coil personally in all my RDAs that support it. The trident IMO is a great RDA I have found better in the Smoktech Caterpillar and its cheaper in price. I'm running that unit at .19 ohms rite now, but I first tried it at 1.0 ohms on the SVD.

I snapped and ordered a Trident, 0.33 Ekowool and 28 Kanthal. Expecting it to arive at wednesday, can't wait!

not to be discouraging but the screw caps on those are a real PITA . a trident clone was my first dripper and after using it for a couple of weeks i tried the Omega clone. another PITA with the wrapping of the wire around the posts... if you are wanting to save money buying a clone to find out if you like it... i would highly suggest getting a Brass monkee or helios clone. that will cut down on the frustration of building and let you concentrate on finding the type of build that suits your style of vaping best. spending the extra $ on authentic drippers was the best decision i ever made vaping wise. i exclusively drip now and wouldn't trade any of my quality rda's for ANY tank period. please remember safety first and read everything you can on IMR batteries and how NOT to short anything...best of luck on your dripping journey. <*}}}>{

i've got an igo-l that i've loved for a while. moved to a smok caterpillar, and i'm totally stoked. i wrapped a few sub-ohm coils, but found the "sweet spot" at 1.3. totally worth the $12!
Slappy I bought the Cat mostly because of how nice it looked and I work on a lot of Caterpillar equipment, Little did I know I would be making it my favorite dripper. It just goes to show you spending big bucks on authentic may not always be the best choice. I have a patriot and zenith authentic as well as trident, igo-W, omega and Crown clones the Caterpillar is the best of all of them IMO

Thanks for your relpy. I've read some solutions to make the screw caps less of a pain. For example this.

Do you have an idea of what the minium ohm that wil fire on the SVD is? I've read so much different. Some people say that it wont fire below 1.3 ohm and some have been running at .8
Can anyone clear this out?
