Not picking on you @mattiem but just a quote that sums up my thinking.
It's strange that nobody on this thread is trying to dissuade the guy/gal from smoking at all!
I know we like vaping but shouldn't we sometimes encourage people to neither vape or smoke?
When someone such as the OP comes on the forum asking for help I don't think it is our place to try to talk them out of vaping or even smoking. I just assume that they are an adult and as such are free to make their own choices and since they asked, we feel compelled to help them.

^^ Fair enough. Obviously, most feel as you do but I personally would like to see, maybe, somebody advocating a smoke & vape free life on occasion in this thread.

I know that I've read a few posts elsewhere on this forum where people have encouraged the OP to refrain from vaping when it isn't a necessity. A pack or two, three, four a day is very different from a cigarette with coffee and when your driving.

As you said, an adult is (probably) perfectly capable of making an informed decision.
I just hope that he, or she considers a smoke and vape free life.

Again, I only singled you out because part of your post was a perfect quote to use.

Pico is a great choice and @Eskie covered pretty much everything. PLENTY of MTL tank options out there. Nautilus is very popular. The Kanger Subtank or Toptank are good at MTL with some minor fiddlin' on the airflow, coil type and drip tip size. The Kanger tanks can grow with you, too. They do subohm DL well and have coil options for temp control vaping.

@BrotherBob pointed out another, simpler option. That's a very reliable and popular starter system. I still have Evod batteries in my backup stash. They have taken a lot of abuse over the years.

Well, if this smoker vapes how he smokes (rarely) it's a win for harm reduction, but to the OP, I think it's a smart decision to start with a smaller, more MTL device. And again, I'd still start with fairly low nicotine. I think the danger from switching from *that few* cigs is that you may prefer vaping *more* and do more of it. You'd want to be making sure you don't turn yourself into a 20 ml of e-juice a day monster. Don't get me wrong, I doubt that is going to happen, but if you want a straight switch to vaping from smoking, you'll probably have to be a bit disciplined. Though, in my observation, a lot of people chain vape to start, due to detoxing from cigs. Even with those few cigs, a detox is likely, so you might want to read up on the sx of it, etc. (New Member's form pinned threads).

Was just listening to 'just dropped in'

That film is great.

Ok, back on topic. Whatever you choose op. Make sure that that film is on in the background.
Sorry guys, I can't bring myself to say 'movie' ;)

cheers all. much love and yes I'm a male adult. I would love to completely quit smoking as a whole, but I'm not to concerned about that yet anyways. and who knows you may be right... the ease of being able to sit here and just have a hit might induce me to vape a lot more than me thinking ahhh do I really wanna go outside and have a smoke haha.

Hello everyone,

I'm actually surprised with all of your great responses and supporting a n00b like me get into my journey of vaping. Many of you made very valid points which made me rethink a lot about the device. I've read many people that get into vaping do end up spending tons of money going through devices and the whole process of it - which I mean it's not that big of a deal, but If I can avoid that it would be ideal which is why I started to research about the "best" (or apple brand) of vaping so I could get the most of my money and be able to grow into it. Dumb idea on my part because I already spend countless of money on buying ciggs (esp in Vancouver its about $13CDN/pack for the brand I smoke) and a lot of people would be like ... are you on... lol.

A little more about myself. Now.... like I said I'm more of a social smoker, have one w/ coffee in the morning.. and then maybe one after lunch and then perhaps a one during the drive home from work etc. Not heavy at all, and if I could avoid putting these 1000+ toxics in my body then vaping is the route to go. IDEALLY, the only purpose of smoking I have is the habit of just inhaling/exhaling smoke whether it be a social thing or just a little "personal habit/thing to do" to have a break or keep myself busy. I mean I'm killing myself just for a silly habit of mine compared to people who are actually addicted to cigarettes and who do pack a day and what not.

All in all.... after going to a couple of local vape stores - it is literally a mind f#!K considering all the brands and processes going on w/ watts, ohms, coils, atomizers. The safety of batteries, making sure to buy reputable LG/Samsung batteries. For a person like me to wanting to vape, there's a LONG ... process to learn. I just thought it would be easy as a plug-in-play device haha, which i mean that's how it used to be anyways. However, the more and more questions I asked and the different answers I kept getting from the local rep, just made me like not even excited to purchase it. The fact I would have to buy an external charger, make sure the batteries are being charged in sync (married), replacing the coil etc. I just want a simple process and by all means even if it has no nicotine - i don't even care. I just need the act of INHALING/EXHALING smoke hahaha. When I learnt about the coil being burnt and having to replace, I just thought of it being another headache compared to me going to the gas station and just buying a pack of ciggs. boom done.

In conclusion, I think as my first vape I would rather much do what one of the members said saying do a starter kit, single battery like the ELEAF iStick 75W Pico. I dont' wanna eff around w/ the batteries, I can just charge it while being in the mod and just continue to refill juices and what not. The inexpensiveness of this device is worth for a trail and error run to see if it meets my needs. It's not like I'm investing a lot of money just to get all the gear as if I would w/ the SMOK.

Would I be able to change the tank of this device? FYI - I'm not in this to chase/produce big clouds at all, ZERO interest. I remember taking a hit of the SMOK of some local vape shop guys. I exhaled and literally did it as if I was smoking a cig, and had to keep exhaling because of all the remainder smoke still in my lungs which ended up coming out of my nose (and heck even through my ears which it felt like rofl). I def don't want to experience that again, I just want the short airtime similiar to cigs. Is the tank what reflects MTL D2L? so if this Eleaf has the MELO w/e tank that's D2L? and If I wanted to try MTL, i would have to change the tank?

I just want a quick/simple set up process and be on my way.

Thanks for all the help guys - much appreciated.
The Eleaf Pico is a decent starter device and like said can be charged thru the USB port. Plus you can get the whole kit online for under $30. You would not need to change the tank, just the coils and close the airflow for a more restricted vape. I just started my cousin on one of these kits with the .5 ohm coil and 3 mg nicotine. I use one for out and about pocket friendly with a Smok Baby Beast

Haha. $30 i wish. Everywhere I looked it's going to cost me a good $100 CDN which includes 2 batteries and then the eleaf starter kit blah ,whatever. USA is so much better :(
Sorry, I forget not everyone is in the US, but the Pico is a single battery mod. Are there no online stores you can order from? Everything is cheaper online

A bit late,,, but I want to know if you made a decision on what to get.
Fact is..... This cheap vape (Cloned) pen from Fast Tech gives great flavor and nice clouds. The 1650 mAh powered battery last for a good while. Definitely a great personal ( all in one ) vape mod kit.
Wish I found this in the beginning.
$13.32 VAPE PEN 22 Styled 1650mAh Starter Kit - 5ml / 0.3ohm / stainless steel + glass at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping
The bad rap they got was from not securing the coil to the base tightly.
When you first get this unit, you want to use pliers and give the coil a 1 quarter turn tightened. This avoids the big problem when refilling and it comes apart. ( Problem Solved. )
This set up is as cheap as it gets. It does tend to go through juice rather quickly. ( As I am a chain vaper, this pen will last me 6 hours on a full charge with a refilling after 3 hours.)
Some times I will place tape over 1 of the 2 air intakes to get a tighter hit.
All summed up.. GREAT STARTER KIT AT THE ABSOLUTE BEST PRICE. ( JUICE REQUIRED )
