Fix for mod chewing up battery wraps

Hoping I can get some help with this one? My mech squonker (magic box) is ripping up my wraps . Not the keystone clip at top,the bottom positive button. It has no spring in that contact what so ever and is ripping the tops off my batteries . I know wraps are cheap but there has got to be a work around for this contact.

Any help is very appreciated.

With that set up, you may need to put more upward pressure on the battery when installing and removing the battery.

From the looks of it the bottom contact is already rounded off and has no real sharp edges, so sanding probably won't help. Worst comes to worst, some mod designs are just prone to damage battery wraps.

I have a feeling I am stuck with the later here. The keystone tab has very little give in it pushing up . The little you do get it still rips across that bottom contact?

Are you overwrapping your cells with heat shrink tubes? I have several batteries that I applied heat shrink to with a label underneath with the date purchased so I'd know how old they were down the road. Those are a little tight in some mods. The thickness of the paper contributes to that. Next time I think I'll just mark the date on the battery with a fine point felt tip instead of a paper label.

Some mods just have more room in the battery tube than others.

ETA: from your post it sounds like the battery itself (without a wrap) is too big for the tube.

I read somewhere, maybe here that someone used a pop cycle stick to help push up the battery just enough to get it out.
I recently purchased the Crea and it was crazy tight. It has loosened up thankfully, but I kinda whittled and filed down a pop cycle stick and it worked great with out tearing up the wraps.
Just a slight enough pressure to move it over the non moving battery contact.

I think it's a different type of chewing than you're talking about. But I just sanded the crap out of my DripBox 160 when I noticed a big gash in one of its battery wraps. They had it thick at the vent holes with a ridge so the batteries were too tight when put in together. So far so good.

My only solution for one stretching up the top or bottom of the wrap was to reheat it and start charging in the mod. The only other solution I could come up with would be taking out the contacts and reworking them to round the edges and dome the center of the contacts.

Can also use a ribbon or shoestring. Put the ribbon in the battery chamber and then the battery. Clip the excess ribbon so there is only about 3 inches on either end. When ready to remove the battery, pull on both ends of the ribbon simultaneously.

No using a single wrap for the re-wrap not thick at all.

Might try a pop sicle stick.

That really wouldn't help much with the battery getting chewed up by the lower contact when installing and removing it.

The popsicle stick method could be a decent solution, and over time may loosen up the top contact enough that you wouldn't need the stick anymore.

Can't charge in device it's a mech (magic box). And yes it is a different type of tearing the wraps. It completely rips the outer edge of the positive wrap down to the cylinder .

In a mech that could result in an experience you don't want to have! Is it the tube rubbing or the contact that's rubbing the wrap? I may have missed where you explained it uptopic.

It would be interesting to know what the outside diameter of the cell is. It should be 18mm for an 18650, but I think that's the metal tube size. The thickness of the factory wrap could matter in your case.

The Hcigar magic box it has a stiff gold nub at the bottom and a keystone negative at the top. The keystone tab has very little movement too,but the positive is the one causing the battery rips.
