Flat top Panasonic CGR18650CH with PROVARI

Hey guys, I bought a set of 4 Panis from Amazon at a great price, mostly to be used with a SS VAMO and a smok The Natural.

However, I'd like to use these on a provari.

I have read about using magnets or use a bit of welding at the top.

Not sure about either but I think I prefer the magnets

AVIDVAPER sells these magnets specifically for this purpose.

Any experience you could share?

We recommend only using AW IMR high drain batteries in your ProVari.
You must use batteries that have a positive button on the top. Flat top batteries will not work. Installing magnet(s) on top of your battery is very dangrous and will void the warranty.

The positive contact on the board inside the Provari requires a button battery to make contact. I wouldn't modify the battery. If the magnet slips you might end up applying voltage to the board or steel tube ... somewhere besides the contact itself. I wouldn't take the chance.

IMR and Li-ion batteries can provide tremendous instantaneous current. You would be playing with fire, literally.

Thanks for the input. I have read though (here in ECF) about people using these with success. Regarding tj99959, I know people are using the same Panis (but with nipple top) with great success. AW's cell are actually Japanese made (and I believe they are actually Panasonic themselves, but I may be wrong)

i have always heard the AW's are just wrapped and packaged in china also. but are not made there. the magnets work but why chance it that 1 in a million chance something goes wrong i know it would happen to me lol.

As someone who has had a "bad battery experience", don't attempt to make modifications. I know others do it, but they do it at their own risk. Use some common sense and just use the proper battery that the manufacturer recommends. Saving a few bucks on cheaper batteries or chargers; or using something for convenience because you have something already is not worth it in my opinion.
