Kato Box mod SKU: 21923 from FC came in today.
This is what came in, the mod, a case and a bag with a allen wrench and extra spring.
Where to start, I guess with the 510 topcap, the 510 threading came in stripped, my Russian 91% wont even try to thread on, just bottoms out
This piece will have to be replaced by FC because this issue I cannot fix at my machine shop.

The Firing button, yet another issue, the delrin is too thick and wont allow the pin to protrude past it to fire the mod, here is a shot of it fully depressed:
Not too bad a fix, will have to sand down the delrin some on Monday at work to allow the pin to protrude past the delrin to fire the mod.

Apparently when this mod was assembled the bottom SS section was reversed so the 2 vent holes were under the atty side, so I took the 2 allen screws out to reverse it and to my surprise the middle delrin piece was missing
Luckily I work in a machine shop and can make me the replacement piece, here is a shot of a quick fix so I can at least use this mod this weekend.

Now for the appearance issues, Firstly the top SS section is poorly machined, you can see milling gouges along its length on both sides
One side also seems to have a small dent shape in it too
The bottom section will permanently have this little lip on it unless I widen the thru holes for the screws to allow a little more travel in adjusting the base to the mid section.

To be able to even use this mod this weekend I used my top cap and switch from my Kato Hammer Clone on this box mod til I can resolve those particular issues.
Here is a shot of my brand new Frankensteined Kato Box mod so I can at least use it for now

I'm so bummed out for you, Drifter. I know you guys were really looking forward to this one. Looks good with your replacement parts though - good thing you had a Hammer. Just don't use one on this mod!

I do like the mods box form factor, it feels tiny in your hand while vaping it
Aside from the missing Delrin piece and stripped 510 threads it's kinda what I expected for it being a clone. The appearance issues I can fix at work so I'm not too bummed about that.
The stripped 510 threads on the other hand should have never left the manufacturer, that very bad QC in my book. Like most clones, it's a good start but just needs a few finishing touches to make it perfect.
I had planned on this being a compact work mod anyways, if it was perfect from the start I probably would just cherish it at home and not even use it at work, so it's a mixed blessing I guess LOL

I was really hoping to be able to use it this weekend, so thankfully I had other parts that I was able to temporarily use to get it to work. I really feel bad for people who order these and can't fix some of these issues themselves. Hopefully others have better luck with theirs than what I did with mine
That does suck Drifter, not a cheap mod either, would expect it not to have all them problems at that price point, but in FC defence, they can't test every part of every mod they send out.

As far as the Kato box mod. The QC issues are typical of most inexpensive Chinese manufacturers, they're cheap because they don't waste any money doing any quality control at all. But to get one with so many unrelated items wrong, that's just terrible. Like you I too expect that something will need to be massaged or fixed or finished. Its just the way the market works for the cheap copies. But I'd still be unhappy getting one with so many wrong things.I do like the mods box form factor, it feels tiny in your hand while vaping it
I thought that was the purpose of the side by side design. I can't visualize the size though. Any chance you could take a pic of it next to a mechanical mod in 18650 mode with an atomizer for a comparison?

Got the delrin on the Kato box mod switch worked down some so now I can use it on the mod til I fix it proper Monday

Well your not the only one disappointed today. Got my Pegasus and it sucks the royal donkey also. It is very crappy. My locking ring is stuck. Mod looks like it was made in a hurry.
I'm going to buy me the Gnome V2 and SuperTPrecision Workhorse. I'll compare those with my current mods.
