Yes, I didn't go any deeper, just wider, I used a 3mm diamond bit. You basically end up with half of a 3 mm hole

I spent all day working on a micro coil for this thing. Getting the 28 gauge wire captured was a complete PITA, and in the process of trying to do that, my nice, tight cylinder-like coil turned into a slinky. That's enough for today. I'll get back to it.
But right now I gotta figure out ... is up with my friggin' Magneto mod. It just....won't fire. It WAS firing (I tested the coil on the Fogger with it, took a good 6 seconds to heat up even though it was 1.1Ohm) and now it just....isn't. Everything FEELS right. I haven't looked at the thread for it yet. Just wanted to drop by and gripe in here, I guess. Don't mind me.

I just had a similar issue with one of my mechs, it was caused by this funky build up between the button, and the receptacle (sleeve?) part of the switch. I would look there, especially where the magnets touch each other.

You should review my build instructions for how to solve the slinky issue that I linked earlier in this thread. It was part of the EVOD instructions but the concept it the same.
I followed your instructions. I'm just a klutz and a goon and can't hold on to tiny wee things. Carpal tunnel repair in both hands about a year ago; didn't fix everything.

So I finally got the thing re wicked at a local shop (ultra newbie so I thought I should see someone do it before I dive in). Man oh man does this thing vape nice. Fogger indeed! Might pick up a second at some point so I can rotate flavors.
One question though. He opted to do a stuffed and heated eco wool wick so that it was more solid. From what I can see you guys are using cotton balls and tight wound coils. Would I be able to skip the heating part if I wind the coils tighter? I have upholstery needles on hand so threading the silica through the eco wool is cake and I should be able to wrap around the eco wool once it's been stuffed. I just don't see the point in stiffening the eco wool since the coils hold the wick and not the other way around.

Stiffening up the ekowool helps the ends not to fray out when working with it. That is stiffening it up using a flame.
Is the Fogger V2 worth getting? I read some posts about burnt rubber taste, looking at the various pictures of the atomizer deck, the coil comes awfully close to the center grommet...
I think so ... mine doesn't have that raised center piece, the grommet is flush with the deck floor. I haven't had any issues. Honestly I think it vapes better than my Ithaka and Oddy clones, and that says a lot.
I might tackle mine again tonight, but I want to be sure of a couple of points that have already been addressed:

I'm aiming for just under 1Ohm sooo....3-4 wraps of 28 gauge kanthal? If I'm using two 1.5mm strands of ekowool (solid, not hollow) do I need to use the o-ring to curtail flooding/leaking?

I remove the sleeve and drip tip, take the top off the tank, remove the fill screw, fill the tank then replace the top and put the fill screw back in and screw the top sleeve with the drip tip back on. No flooding at all this way just be careful removing the top.
I would wait and get a russian or russian91%. The fogger v2 is a extremely fiddly to set up. The glass tank split into two the first day I got it. It is just not designed very well at all. It has a tasty vape but doesn't come close to producing the thick vapor I get with my other devices. Its a cheapo device compared to the Kayfuns and the Russians.
The last build I just did, I wrapped 28g around the screwdriver that came with it... it just so happens to be the perfect width for this 3mm silica I just got. I did about 5 wraps, pretty close, but not touching (I'm not a fan of overly warm vapes, so I'm doing this to keep the temp down) I then cut one end of the silica at an angle, and carefully feed it through the coil. It seems like I get the best feeding if I eliminate one of the "strands" of the stuff I'm using. If I use it stock, I have to do primer pulls to saturate the wick before I hit it. Eliminating a strand seems to keep it from choking.
The best vape I've had with this is with a 1/16" micro with cotton, BUT, and it's a big but for me, the cotton is only good for a few hours. At first it's amazing, but then something happens and it just stops wicking properly. Since getting to the coil is somewhat of a PITA, I've been running silica builds for more durability.
So you're removing the top of the tank, meaning the part that's held in place by the black o-ring, right?

I agree with Scope666. For ~30 bucks you get an atty that gives you the ability to get an outstanding vape. While your not getting a high end atty quality, (fit, finish, QC), its what you do with it that matters (and quality is really not bad - similar to the RSST). Its not the simplest to set up, but it certainly isnt that difficult to get it set up. Its in the slight tweaks you do that make the difference.
Dont worry if you get a grommet that sticks-up (mine did). A quick slice with an xtacto knife removed the extended portion in less than 10 seconds. You really dont need it.
All the flaws in this device (if you by chance get them) can be corrected, thanks to a lot of the contributors in this thread.

What's your resistance? This sounds much easier for me to handle, btw. Micro coils just....man I just can't do 'em. Yet.
